  1. List of suggestions for radical or otherwise unorthodox What If Politicians (assuming they're not already in here) LW Populists: Jim Jones (The flavor-aid cult one, Influential in California politics and his endorsement was highly sought after during the 1970s, wavered in what form of socialism he practiced but could have easily marketed himself as a Christian Socialist, incredibly prone to scandal as his church was an obvious hotbed of all sorts of abuse and violence, very charismatic) Vito Marcantonio (probably already here, Republican Socialist Congressman in the 1930s-50s who later joined an offshoot of the Socialist Party of America) Frank Zeidler (Socialist mayor of Milwaukee from 1948 to 1960) Tom Kahn (Socialist activist from New York who worked for Scoop Jackson and became somewhat influential in the Civil Rights and especially the Labor Movement and AFL-CIO specifically, surprisingly an Anti-Communist hawk which could help him in a Cold War game, also fought for gay rights and died of AIDS which could hurt him in a traditionalist national environment) Moderate Conservative: Ted Bundy (The serial killer was a Rockefeller staffer in 68 and was even one of his delegates that year at the RNC, worked as a GOP staffer for a while after that and some of his associates though he might have entered politics, like Jim Jones he should be incredibly prone to scandal due to his violent tendencies, his charisma is debatable and seems to have been overblown by the media coverage of him) RW Populists: Robert Rice Reynolds (U.S. Senator, Isolationist, Pro-Nazi and Fascist Democrat from North Carolina, New Dealer, allowed fascist subversives to use his franking privileges, hated the English and supported the Fortress America policy 1935-1945) Ellison "Cotton Ed" Smith (Early 20th century segregationist and far right politician with a penchant for dramatic and sometimes violent publicity stunts, U.S. Senator from South Carolina, veered towards isolationism and appears to have flirted with fascism towards his defeat and death in 1944) John E. Rankin (Another violently racist Southerner, this time a Congressman from Mississippi, he said the N word on the House floor and helped pass the bill that created concentration camps for Japanese-Americans during WW2, accused Albert Einstein of being a communist and was anti-Semitic) There's a lot more I can probably find but these are some of the highlights from off the top of my head.
  2. It might make more sense to replace the nationalist populists with the "Patriot Party" since that was the name of the Trumpist 3rd party being floated around after the Capitol Riots and to change nicknames like "Know Nothing" to the actual name of the party like "Native American Party". In a similar vein as the Patriot Party suggestion, I think it might be worthwhile to change fictional names like "American Fascist Party" to the names of real third parties like "The American Nazi Party". Finally, and unrelated, where would the Union Party (1936) or the proposed Share the Wealth third party be on here? I'm assuming they'd be left wing populists but they also had fascists like Gerald L.K. Smith in their ranks.
