Dang, where's my man Justin Jefferson!?

He didn't make the spreadsheet. Of really recent players, I have to see unusual dominance. Rookie Ja'Marr Chase had a top 5 best season ever by a rookie WR, which is the only reason he's on here.

Oh I know, it was more rhetorical than anything. Though I'd say Jefferson also had a top 5 rookie receiving season in his first season too (in 3 fewer games too).

@ConservativeElector2 @Rezi @jvikings1 @themiddlepolitical @WVProgressive

Teams are now filled!

Here's what I'll need to do next:

- Prepare your team spreadsheet tabs, so you can make your rosters and figure out your starters and lineup schemes, etc.

- I need to create spreadsheet tabs to automate and simulate game results or at least help me in that. This latter part might take me a week as AMPU is my top priority and this is sort of something to take a brief break from that work once a day.

Actually have time for @ConservativeElector2's team:

Ok, you have some personnel decisions to make. Below you'll see your roster.

  • RO, PO, RD, PD, STO, STD stands for Rushing Offense Strength, Passing Offense Strength, Rushing Defense Strength, Passing Defense Strength, Special Teams Offense and Defense.

Here's what I need to know.

1. What sort of Offense will you use as your primary offensive formation?

a. Standard - 1 RB, 1 FB, 2 WR, 1 TE (comes with backup WR)

b. Double RB - 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE (comes with backup WR)

c. Double TE - 1 RB, 2 WR, 2 TE (comes with backup RB)

d. Three-WR - 1 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE (comes with backup WR)

e. Four-WR - 1 RB, 4 WR (comes with backup TE)

2. What sort of Defense will you use as your primary defensive formation?

a. 4-3 Def - 2 DE, 2 DT, 2 OLB, 1 MLB, 2 CB, 2 S (comes with backup CB)

b. 3-4 Def - 2 DE, 1 DT, 2 OLB, 2 MLB, 2 CB, 2 S (comes with backup CB)

c. 5 DB - 2 DE, 2 DT, 1 OLB, 1 MLB, 3 CB, 2 S (comes with backup OLB)

3. Who will be your KR/PR?

Pick someone with at least a 1 in STO that isn't a K or P. (Actually you have no KR option, but Woodson will fill the gap)

4. Who will be your starters on offense and defense (note: Most backups will be cut)?

Use your formations to determine what positions you need. Don't forget to pick starting QB, C, 2 G, 2 T, K, P

Teams are set! @ConservativeElector2 @jvikings1 @WVProgressive @Rezi

I now just need to create the spreadsheet so it simulates game results and statistics (or helps with that). Here are the strongest teams:

Best Rushing Offense: @Rezi by a significant margin.

Best Passing Offense: @ConservativeElector2, although two other teams are close behind.

Best Rushing Defense: @jvikings1 with two other teams close behind, but all unlikely to do well at stopping Rezi rushing offense.

Best Passing Defense: @jvikings1 with three other teams almost tied.

Best ST Off: @Rezi, although not by a huge margin.

Best ST Def: No team really has a strong ST def

My prediction is that while @jvikings1 might have the strongest team combined, that the combination of @Rezi's running game and top ST will see them win the entire thing. A team will have to take the lead early against them to force them into passing. Having Barry Sanders and Jim Brown in the backfield together is deadly!

Alright, I think I have the spreadsheet rules set up for simulating Week 1 tomorrow, if I have some time. Week 1 might be kind of odd, resulting in me changing some of how I'm doing this. I'm hoping that the forum football league will be something fun to do once a year, once I figure this out for sure: @ConservativeElector2 @jvikings1 @WVProgressive @Rezi

The first game of the season will either occur today or Wednesday, most likely. Depends when I get can 20-30 solid minutes free. Once I get the routine down, it will probably only take me 10 minutes per game.

I took a 15 min break to play half the first game @Rezi vs @jvikings1 . Going to need to start over and totally recalibrate how the simulation works. Both teams scored on all 6 of their first drives (TD or FG). No Sacks or INTs. Lamar Jackson, Barry Sanders, and Jim Brown were all on pace for 200 yards rushing each and Jackson only had 25 passing yards in the first half. Tim Brown had a KR TD and almost another one.

I think I know how I can fix this but it's going to take sometime to totally change how I do this. I also need to figure out a way to make it all more efficient because it's going to take me an hour to do a game the way I currently have it, what with typing out all the statistics. I think I know of a way I can streamline some of it so it allows me time to add the stats. I'll have to do a lot of spreadsheet things. This might take me awhile, considering I have AMPU things and extended office hours this week, and grading 100 more papers at the end of the week. Hopefully, will have something up by next week that works.

It is kind of fun to see these all-time greats but the offenses just make this seem like I'm simulating high school games.

Will add @ConservativeElector2 and @WVProgressive too

First game of the season!!!!! All-Time NFL Week !

@ConservativeElector2 @Rezi @jvikings1 @WVProgressive

@Rezi faces @jvikings1 in the first game.

I expected this game to be a blow out because of @Rezi's dominant rushing team, but it turns out both defenses played rather solid.

Rezi wins 20-13!!!! in what is something of an ugly game offensively. Game MVP is Jim Brown, even though it wasn't an MVP type game for anyone.

Rezi stats:

  • Lamar Jackson 150 yrds, 0 TDs, and 1 Int, but he rushes for 50 yrds and 1 TD.
  • Barry Sanders gets 70 yrds rushing and 1 rec for 5yrds
  • Jim Brown gets 60 yards rushing a 1 TD
  • Terrell Owens 3 recs 45yrds
  • Sterling Sharpe 3 recs 45 yrds
  • Charlie Sanders 2 recs 20 yrds
  • Eric Metcalf 1 rec 20 yards
  • Deacon Jones 1 sack
  • Deion Sanders 1 INT
  • Jan Stenerud 2 FGs

JViking stats:

  • Tom Brady 225 yrds, 1 TD, 1 INT
  • Calvin Johnson 5 recs 80 yrds 1 TD
  • Cliff Branch 3 recs 60 yrds
  • Tony Gonzalez 2 recs 30 yrds
  • John Mackey 2 recs 25 yrds
  • Emmitt Smith 80 yrds rushing, 2 rec 15yrds rec
  • Adrian Peterson 10 yrds rushing
  • JJ Watt 1 sack
  • Aaron Donald 1 sack
  • Rod Woodson 1 INT
  • Adam Vinatieri 2 FGs

It takes me about 20 min to simulate a game with this method, so this system is great for the little time I have.
