If you want Congress to do something, just send Patine in. They'll eventually get tired of him and just do what he wants

You gonna let me go after the public sector unions?

As long as the good union people like Sean are gonna be alright, hell yeah. Get rid of the corruption, and the forcing of workers ex: teachers in certain states to join Unions, which then make them adherent to said union. Get the unions out of education! 😛

Education is one of the areas where collective bargaining is more needed.

I think it would be a good compromise on Teachers' Unions would be to strengthen collective bargaining to improve the wages of teachers (which are far too low) as well as their workplace conditions (which should be better), and to also either remove or significantly weaken tenure, which can absolutely be abused by teachers to ease it up and not put forward their best effort towards their students.

Education is one of the areas where collective bargaining is more needed. Teachers get screwed over royally by schools - public and private - all the time. The unions that really need gotten rid of, and are least representative of the labour movement, by far, are the Screen Actors' Union and Professional Athletics Players' Associations. Plus, I noticed you ONLY mentioned getting of corruption in the teachers' unions, not addressing similar corruption, as well as abusive workplace policies, often close to untenable worktime management, and lower-then-deserved salary by many, many schools, public and private. Do you view these problems as being addressed meaningfully by Government, directly, if you plan to gut the unions, if I may ask?

That was a lighthearted generalization of what I'd want Jvikings to do as Secretary of Labor. I'm not discussing paragraphs of policy in a post about who we'd appoint to our cabinet from this forum. 😛

Ha.  If the men and women I served with could see how often I'm nominated for Secretary of Defense, they'd be deeply amused.

I was in the military and served in Iraq...but I was just a radio DJ/TV Anchor (think "Good Morning VIetnam".  I was good at telling the military's stories, but was not particularly amazing at any other part of military life (and was sub-standard at some of it).  Ha.

I'm very thankful that I served, I got a LOT out of it (I would not have the education, the high paying career, or even the wife and daughter without it).  But there's a million reasons I got out at the first opportunity, and chief among those reasons is the fact that nobody asked me to stay.  Haha.

However, a, "loyal," or, "habitual," voter, as in the UK, would be a better analog to what the U.S. calls a, "registered party member."

Are you a member of the NDP? I myself am a payed up Labour Party member
