On the 11th day on getting my four wisdom teeth out.. Probably can't eat complete solids for a couple of days. Wondering how it went for everyone else

I got my last ones taken out just over two years ago - at age 44... 😞

I didn't want to wait past 22, I heard the older you get the more healing is required (Cause your jaw bone isn't "completely" formed until you are 25).

They've been telling me to take mine out since the 1990s. I still have all of them.

Interesting, Do they not bother your?

Accidentally hit the wrong thing on 3. Meant to be N/A. I've been told that mine probably won't need to come out. I haven't felt anything of them yet, and according to xrays at least... they're just chilling there lol.

Oh don't worry, they'll try to convince you to get them out even if it's not necessary. Mine never hurt, were totally fine, was told that I wouldn't need to get them out. Switched to a new dentist and suddenly "They needed to go". Don't get them out unless they actually discomfort you, even if your dentists try to get your/your insurance's money by saying they need to be taken out.

For what it's worth, I had mine removed when I had braces put on in high school. My teeth are too big for my mouth, so they would have pushed my other teeth around when they came through. I recovered within a few days. Took only ibuprofen for pain relief. I found that placing moist black tea bags for a few minutes on my teeth really helped control the inflammation and pain.

I mean they can try. I doubt they would though. I know my dentist extremely well. Known him since I was a kid... I don't think he'd pull something like that. Even if he did I wouldn't want them out unless I can't stand the pain of them being there.

But yeah, I'll watch out when I inevitably switch to a different dentist some day.

On a sidenote, I think the toughest thing concerning my teeth happened when I was a kid. I fell face/mouth first onto a counter I was climbing for some weird kid reason when I was like 3 or 4.

It ended up making me have to have braces at 8-9 years old. I didn't mind.

The fall on the counter though caused one of my teeth to grow in crooked. So braces+ an actual spring was required to shape that tooth back into place. It was a weird procedure. Definitely not the usual lmao.

My top ones grew in all the way and were perfectly fine, but by that point my bottom ones only just started peeking out of my gums and were growing completely sideways (maybe under other teeth? I forget). They weren't hurting yet, but it was obvious they were going to cause excruciating pain when they did grow in more so I got them removed (all four at once). I had no pain on top because they were normal, but terrible pain on the bottom since they basically dug my teeth out of my gums. I also couldn't use any of the higher strength pain relievers they usually prescribe when you get your wisdom teeth removed because of medication interactions. I was either 16 or 17.

Can’t relate, I keep my wisdom in my head instead of my mouth.
