Quickshot 2016 - Republican Primary

The Blood

Recommended Posts

Hello all! Just wanted to make a return to tradition and run a good-old fashioned primary quickshot. Same rules apply as usual. We start on January 1st, 2016, with one week in-RP passing each turn and 3 events per candidate all rolled on with a D10. Debates will also be held as they came IRL, with the usual core message, pander, and attack system employed. Without further explanation, here are the candidates and their current standings!

National GOP Presidential Primary Polling - January 1st 2016:

Donald Trump: 36% @Fbarbarossa

Ted Cruz: 20% @Timur

Marco Rubio: 13% @Pringles

Ben Carson: 10% @Rodja

Jeb! Bush: 6% @Rezi

Chris Christie: 4% @Hestia

Rand Paul: 3% @Zenobiyl

Carly Fiorina: 2% @mark2

John Kasich: 2% @Sean F Kennedy

Mike Huckabee: 2%

Lindsay Graham(Still in at special request): 1% @Kitten

Rick Santorum: 1%

Iowa GOP Presidential Caucus Polling - January 1st 2016:

Carson: 9%

Bush: 5%

Christie: 3%

Paul: 3%

Huckabee: 2%

Fiorina: 2%

Kasich: 2%

Graham: 1%

New Hampshire GOP Presidential Primary Polling - January 1st 2016:

Rubio: 14%

Cruz: 12%

Kasich: 12%

Christie: 11%

Bush: 8%

Fiorina: 6%

Carson: 5%

Paul: 2%

Santorum: 1%

Graham: 0%

Huckabee: 0%

The candidate list won't have to be filled completely, even at this point it's a large field and I'd prefer we fill out the major slots, I can wipe Rick Santorum from the polling if needed. With all that, let the candidate selection begin!

We have enough players to begin! You all can begin your events now, and unless anyone chooses them before the next turn, Huckabee and Santorum will quietly leave the race heading into turn two. Thank you!

Heading to New Hampshire Trump will talk on tariffs and corruption

Trump Tower: 6. Trump's rally is reasonably sized, but the event lacks the expected energy for a Trump rally, with Donald failing to grab headlines or whip up a frenzy in the crowd with his rhetoric.

Iowa: 1! Trump will attack a desperate Iowa farmer at the event. The farmer, who will plead to Trump that his farm is failing and he fears that Trump will worsen his situation as President, describing how the farming industry depends on easy access to foreign markets, will be viciously derided by Donald, who declares, "Yeah yeah, it's people like you I want to send out of this country, just like the illegals! I hope you lose your farm, get out of here!", causing a mass controversy in the media and among Iowa Republicans.

New Hampshire: 9. On the other hand, Trump will campaign to cheering crowds and excited supporters in New Hampshire, boosting his campaign in the state.

Overall: 0. A mixed week all-around. Despite success in New Hampshire and in front of Trump Tower, Trump's Iowa controversy hits his campaign hard in a crucial state while bringing any potential national momentum to a halt.

Christie will return to New Hampshire, talking about the need to project strength abroad.

New Hampshire: 9. Christie will receive a welcome reception in New Hampshire, campaigning to large and receptive crowds wherever he goes as moderates in the state begin to consider him as their bet.

Iowa: 2. In Iowa, however, Governor Christie will be met with small crowds and bored voters, with those in Waukee saying that they simply don't trust Christie after all they heard during Bridgegate and that they want a more conservative nominee than him.

New Hampshire: 9. Returning to New Hampshire Christie will once again find success, with voters excited and energized hearing his foreign policy pitch, ready to see President Christie restore America's prestige internationally.

Overall: +5. Despite a rough time in Iowa, Christie builds up significant strength in New Hampshire, helping his campaign nationally and in the first primary state to vote.

3. Kasich will campaign in Nevada, speaking the need for immigration reform, citing Reagan’s 1986 Immigration Act.

Columbus: 3. Many conservatives will criticize Kasich for the rally, saying he'd be a "suck-up" to Democrats as President, and the rally itself sees a small crowd and limited positive coverage.

New Hampshire: 10! In New Hampshire Kasich will propel his campaign forward! Gathering support from all party affiliations, Kasich will strengthen his broad coalition in the state with every town hall and handshake, holding long discussions with voters and fighting for every last vote.

Nevada: 3. Once again, Kasich will receive attacks as a "RINO" over his moderate views, and few in Nevada will seem open to his campaign or excited about immigration reform as an issue.

Overall: +1. Despite failures in his home state of Ohio and Nevada, Kasich will keep his campaign going with an excellent push in New Hampshire.

Rubio then heads to Nevada. Meeting with Hispanic/Latino Conservative groups.

Iowa: 10! Rubio takes Iowa by storm! His campaign surges among those looking for an electable, energetic conservative, with many viewing him as the future of the Republican Party.

New Hampshire: 5. Rubio does fine campaigning in New Hampshire, but voters find him repetitive and seem more interested in the campaigns of Christie and Kasich.

Nevada: 9. Rubio will gain significant ground with the Hispanic vote in Nevada, building his campaign in the state to success.

Overall: +9. Rubio will surge with strong successes in both Iowa and Nevada, with some in the media opining about the "Marcomentum" seen in the Republican Primary.

Graham will campaign in Iowa where he talks about trade deals under his administration.

Iowa: 5. Some are excited by Graham's rhetoric, others are horrified, it balances out.

Iowa: 10! As Graham speaks, the simple words "cut your taxes" send the crowd into a wild frenzy. Graham is lifted up in the air, as the people of Iowa give him their praise, declaring him the next Ronald Reagan and the "Tax cutting savior" of the Republican Primary.

Iowa: 3. Graham will go into tedious detail over his trade plans, going so far as to discuss his specific thoughts on America's blueberry trade with Kenya. Needless to say, the crowd will slowly dissipate from his event.

Overall: +3. Graham gains momentum in Iowa, with a groundbreaking event on taxes followed by a less successful discussion of trade policy.

  3. Bush holds a megarally in Iowa, with both Georges, where he proposes the deregulation of agriculture, to increase profits for farmers and lower prices for consumers.

NH: 10! Bush will prove himself to be high-energy in New Hampshire, drawing in a large crowd of voters to his event and giving them a strong and motivating message. And at the end they even clap without being asked to!

Ronald Reagan Presidential Library: 10! Moderates will rally around Bush for his sensible and reasonable messaging on the Supreme Court, with many declaring that this shows his level-headed nature and willingness to compromise for the strength of America's institutions.

Iowa: 8. The megarally is well-attended, with rural voters appreciative of Bush's plans to support the agriculture industry.

Overall: +13! Bush surges nationwide as voters rally around his cause. Making gains in both Iowa and New Hampshire, Jeb! may be setting himself up for a strong performance in the early states to further grow his revived campaign.

Iowa: 3. Cruz will come off as uncharismatic and "slimy" according to one voter who attended his event.

New Hampshire: 2. One policy-minded New Hampshirite will ask a specific question of Cruz regarding his proposal for a flat tax. Cruz will then give a simple "we need to cut taxes in America", dodging every request to give specifics on his plan while being recorded, hurting his New Hampshire campaign.

South Carolina: 5. With a middling performance across the state, Cruz will fail to excite evangelical voters with his campaign.

Overall: -5. With failures in both Iowa and New Hampshire, Cruz 2016 starts the year with a rough week on the trail.

Iowa: 8. Paul's rhetoric on immigration does well, bringing in nativists to his campaign.

Iowa: 3. On the other hand, few Iowans seem enthused by Paul's rhetoric on the PATRIOT Act, with many viewing him as weak on national security issues, and libertarians feeling unenergetic for what they view as a doomed campaign.

Iowa: 6. Conservatives will prove receptive to Paul's messaging, though Rand's tour fails to provide substantial strength to his campaign.

Overall: +2. In a week of big successes for his competitors, Paul carries on with acceptable progress in Iowa as the week ends.

1.Dr.Carson campaigns in IA promising to repeal ObamaCare in first 100 days.

2.Dr.Carson in addres to IA veterans promises to pull all troops out of Afghanistan.

3.Dr.Carson will seek endorsement from Fmr.Gov.Palin

Iowa: 2. Carson will be booed by an elderly man at his event, who declares that Obamacare saved his life. Carson will seem dismissive in response, brushing the man aside in an incident which takes hold in the local media, hurting his Iowa campaign.

Iowa: 3. Neoconservatives will attack Carson for the statement, declaring that the candidate intends to "abandon America's allies" and "give into terrorists" abroad.

Sarah Palin: 10! Governor Palin will give a glowing endorsement to Carson, giving a needed boost to his campaign.

Overall: 0. Carson's Iowa campaign takes serious hits this week, but his national momentum is saved by a strong endorsement from Sarah Palin.

Iowa: 4. As with Carson, Fiorina will be attacked by Neocons for her rhetoric on Afghanistan, though her attacks on ISIS help shield from the pushback.

Iowa: 7. Fiorina's townhall goes well, with strong turnout and a solid performance from Fiorina.

New Hampshire: 1! Just as Carly begins her event on corruption, unconfirmed reports break that following her post-debate surge in 2015, her campaign had been in touch with multiple high-level lobbyists from the oil industry, and soon after donations were made to support her campaign from the oil industry. As Fiorina rails against corruption on stage, her campaign is hit with questions regarding its connections with the oil industry and Carly's ability to serve as President free of corporate influence. While the unconfirmed nature of the reports shield Fiorina, and her campaign is low-level enough to avoid mass scrutiny, her campaign takes a hit, and the New Hampshirites at her event actively question a confused candidate as Carly finishes her speech.

Overall: -4. Despite a successful Des Moines townhall, hits from Neocons and a notable corruption scandal drag Fiorina's campaign down.

January 14th Debate: All candidates are invited to the January 14th debate! Candidates may PM me the core message, attack, and pander they wish to make on the debate stage, and I shall roll a D10 on all 3 actions. The RNC has made it clear that they are inviting all candidates to the debate, in a change of policy in the interests of fairness and representation.
