Pringles
https://www.humblebundle.com/games/europa-universalis-iv-complete I know this got posted in our discord a few days back but I also wanted to leave it here for anyone interested. Everything concerning EU4 for 20 bucks that goes to a good cause. Although most of us here probably have EU4 and at least most of its stuff. Deal's got nearly 2 weeks left so plenty of time to jump in if you're waiting on a paycheck! Although not my favorite Paradox title, all this DLC (hundreds of dollars) for 20 bucks is a steal. Pringles
Just now, Patine said: Age of Empires IV is the only new nation-building and -managing strategy game on my list to buy, right now, but it's still at $70 on Steam, so I'm going to wait for it to drop or have a sale. Any remotely likely bundles with it would involve buying things I already had. If you're really dying to play it, it's on Game Pass! $9.99 bucks a month (although you might be able to find a month free trial or something). Cheap enough to scratch the itch if you're dying to play it. I usually like to buy my games in full but XBOX Game Pass is decent if you just want to try some new games for a month. Misleading name, but XBOX Game Pass is also a PC exclusive. So you can get it on here. I always used to like when I was a kid first playing games on Steam, back in 2012-2013 or so... my older cousin would get me Steam cards on my birthday or other Holidays. 😛 He knew what I really wanted. 😁 Edited March 30, 2022 by Pringles

I think EU might be the greatest geopolitical strategy game ever made. It's certainly more complex than the other Paradox titles. My start in "game making" came from helping out with two games: Civil War General III by Sierra (which never came out). I was in high school/freshman in college and helping out with that. The next thing I worked on was an add-on (would be called a DLC today) for Europa Universalis II called Age of Nationalism. I was in charge with coming up with all the generals and finding their abilities. I was in my 4th and 5th military history classes, which helped. When I lived in NYC, I was helping with Ageod's Thirty Year's War, which is on Steam, but I was only helping for maybe a month. The creator stopped responding to my emails because I kept insisting that the game needed more diplomatic options since half that war was diplomacy. I think also he was wanting volunteering in coding things and, because that's not my area of expertise, I was looking for areas to enhance the game. I ended up buying the game. He did add some diplomatic options, but I had ideas that would have made the diplomacy much more fun. I think he was just all too interesting in the military aspect of the war. Definitely one of the most interesting wars. Truly epic.

I love the timespan of EU4 it's just the game itself I've never been really good at. Which has always made me not like it too well. I'm more of a Crusader Kings/Hearts of Iron guy. I'd argue Hearts of Iron 3 is the most complex Paradox title simply because of the military mechanics. It's like playing those Gary Grigsby games that are professional military sims haha. CK and HOI are more military-focused, which is why they're easier. CK is kind of like a hybrid between CK and HOI. EU focuses more on diplomacy, economics, and trade, which is why it might be more difficult for some. It's got more factors. Victoria is sort of like a more extreme version of EU in this regard. I'd say HOI is the simplest game. You know exactly what the focus is of the game. It doesn't require as much mental juggling since it is war-focused.
