2024 Republican Primary Quick-Shot

Hestia

Recommended Posts

Hello all! In the spirit of just finishing one of my classes and being happy that some time is being freed up, I wanted to begin a Quick-Shot campaign for the 2024 Republican nomination. There's only one rule. President Trump is NOT running for re-election. That would just make it too hard and uninteresting! 😛 I'm sure you all agree haha. Everyone else is fair game. I encourage you to pick Governors/Senators/former Cabinet officials, but some Representatives (like Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, among a few others that are well known) are fair game as well. I'll have a list below of some suggested picks. Sorry to those of you who are Dems and now having to deal with two separate GOP nomination battles, but we've done a lot of Democratic ones and few Republican ones in our lifespan 😂. As is typical of quickshots here, there are 3 actions a turn, and for my RP, one endorsement request a turn (separate from events, but only 1).

Candidate Ideas -

Ron DeSantis (Gov. of Florida) @Richard

Mike Pence (former Vice President)

Ted Cruz (Sen. of Texas)

Larry Hogan (Gov. of Maryland) @Dobs

Chris Sununu (Gov. of New Hampshire)

Greg Abbott (Gov. of Texas)

Tom Cotton (Sen. of Arkansas)

Doug Ducey (Gov. of Arizona)

Nikki Haley (former UN Ambassador) @ShortKing

Adam Kinzinger (Rep. of Illinois)

Rand Paul (Sen. of Kentucky)

Kim Reynolds (Gov. of Iowa)

Mitt Romney (Sen. of Utah)

Marco Rubio (Sen. of Florida) @Pringles

Ben Sasse (Sen. of Nebraska)

Glenn Youngkin (Gov. of Virginia)

Liz Cheney (Rep. of Wyoming) @The Blood

Joni Ernst (Sen. of Iowa)

Kristi Noem (Gov. of South Dakota)

Paul Ryan (former Speaker)

Rick Scott (Sen. of Florida)

Tim Scott (Sen. of South Carolina)

Ivanka Trump (former advisor to President Trump)

Tucker Carlson (News Host) @WVProgressive

Marjorie Taylor Greene (Rep. of Georgia) @Timur

John Kasich (Former Gov. Of Ohio) @Fbarbarossa

Mike Lindell @Zenobiyl

If you're looking for another candidate that may be a little out of the box, please check with me on Discord or in PMs here. I'd like to keep it semi-realistic, so please keep that in mind. Post your candidate claims down here, and I'll have initial polling when it seems like everyone is in. Thank you! 💞

Can I have Tucker Carlson? I know he isn’t listed, and said he isn’t running but I thought he would be a fun candidate to play as.

1. Liz Cheney will launch her campaign with a barnstorming trip to New Hampshire, calling on the state's primary voters to vote for a "return to the ideas of fiscal conservatism, government restraint, and the promotion of American entrepreneurship and innovation". Cheney will warn voters that the "hateful ideology" of candidates like Lindell and Carlson will only drag the nation down, instead promoting deficit reduction, supply-side economics, and Reaganite conservatism as the true path forward for America.

2. Cheney will campaign in South Carolina, hitting Tucker Carlson and other members of the "America First" movement for "supporting and emboldening" dictators abroad such as Russian President Putin with their rhetoric. "We cannot select a nominee who has incessantly downplayed and in effect supported the actions of foreign dictators. I can tell you now that as President, I will stand up for democracy and liberty abroad, because I'm not afraid to confront and oppose the enemies of democracy like Putin and Assad on the world stage."

3. Cheney will openly criticize the Big Lie while campaigning in Iowa, declaring, "2020 was not a rigged election. This may be an unpopular statement among some voters, but it's a fact. We cannot continue to harm our democracy and alienate millions of Americans by pushing this lie as a party. Instead, we need to recenter our values as a party and focus on a message of genuine conservatism which promotes the liberty and prosperity of all Americans, rather than continuing our senseless fight against the results of a free and fair election."

Endorsement: Mitt Romney

1. Marco Rubio visits the state of Iowa. Hitting the major cities and talking with voters. He talks about how it's time to beat the Democrats in 2024 and reverse the damage they've done at home, and abroad.

2. Rubio then heads to New Hampshire. Flexing his foreign policy credentials and emphasizing how the Biden Administration hasn't done enough to help Ukraine throughout the conflict. (Which has hopefully died down by this point.)

3. Rubio heads to Nevada, meeting with Latino and Hispanic Conservative groups.

Endorsement: Tim Scott

1. Larry Hogan announces his candidacy in historic downtown Annapolis, Maryland. He emphasizes his record of pragmatic conservatism, cutting taxes and defending law and order. He emphasizes his record as an able Governor, highlighting Maryland's growth under his two terms and emphasizing both his fiscal conservatism and law and order bona fides as well as his social centrism, highlighting a GOP that actively courts immigrants, racial minorities, and members of the LGBTQ. The campaign stands to reach those 26% of Republicans who identify as moderate as well as enough of those Reagan conservative who appreciate pragmatism and results above all else. He will rebrand "moderate" Republican politics into "pragmatic conservative" Republican politics.

2. The Hogan campaign will begin to lay down heavy roots in New Hampshire. First up, an event with small business owners in Nashua, New Hampshire to highlight Hogan's tax-cutting record and effectiveness in governing a deep blue state.

3. Hogan continues to cultivate ties in the Granite state with a similar event with small shipyard owners and tugboat operators in Portsmouth, NH. He focuses on the importance of free trade, unencumbered by government inference and the role that steady international leadership plays in American trade.

Endorsement: None other than New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, let's start to build that pragmatic conservative/moderate governor street cred.

John Kasich will launch his campaign in Columbus, Ohio. The Kasich launch will be a small event with some key supporters, campaign managers and news teams there for the announcement. Kasich will stress that his campaign will represent a return to civility in politics as well as an era of bipartisanship and forward progress for the US - What truly makes America great.

Kasich will attend state fairs in Iowa where he will speak to everyday people of all party registrations, trying to paint himself in touch and as a candidate who would want to reach all Americans, not just his party and faction.

Finally, Kasich will hold a town hall in New Hampshire. While it will predominantly consist of undecided Republican voters he will also invite a handful of supporters of other candidates and even some Democrats and Independents.

Endorsement Request: Chris Sununu

3. Nikki Haley runs ads in New Hampshire highlighting her experience as Governor of South Carolina and UN Ambassador.

Endorsement: 3. Unfortunately, Haley girlbossed too close to the sun, and Governor Reynolds thought that she was too woke for her endorsement. Maybe next time.

Iowa Event 1: 4. Haley's event in Iowa doesn't go much better, failing to gain much traction.

Iowa Event 2: 3. Haley's call for new leadership lands on deaf ears in Des Moines, where many are still loyal to Trump and see Haley as the same class of politicians as him, leaving them scratching their heads as to why she is a new generation.

New Hampshire Ad:  10! In this moderate state, the ad of Haley's remarks against Russia, Syria and Iran after a chemical attack are particularly prescient at this moment. It goes off without a hitch for the former UN ambassador.

Overall: -3. A slightly poor week for the former UN ambassador, Haley manages to save some momentum, particularly in the critical state of New Hampshire.

Endorsement Request: Q

Endorsement Request: 2. Lindell hits a hard block when it comes to this fictitious mysterious observer, not able to find much information about who he is and if he can help his campaign. He ends up looking like a nut.

Iowa: 6. The 'Stop the Steal' Symposium goes decently in Cedar Rapids, with Lindell having a moderate showing there.

Iowa: 10! The expose that was broadcast on Breitbart goes over swimmingly for Lindell, with many hardcore Trumpists turning out for him to speak.

Iowa: 8. Lindell sends out some information about the election, though it is actually fake since Q wasn't willing to work with him. Still, the people gobble it up.

Overall: +9. A wonderful week for Lindell, and a terrifying one for the rest of the nation.

3. Carlson campaigns in Iowa, blasting Biden's open borders immigration policy, and calling for an Australian style points-based immigration screening system.

Endorsement Request: Steve Bannon

Endorsement Request: 3. Oddly, like those that came before him, Bannon refuses to endorse Carlson, busy with his work in Europe at the moment.

Tucker Carlson Tonight: 2. The viewers are upset that he will be going off air, even though it is only right to do so. It ends up embroiling him in a minor scandal right before the first part of the campaign.

Iowa Speech: 3. The America-First Foreign Policy is one of the more contentious issues among Republicans, and he is hounded by protestors before finishing his speech.

Campaign Iowa: 10! Giving red meat to the base, Carlson is back where he belongs. It reminds voters why they wanted Carlson in the race at all.

Overall: -2. Carlson stumbles out of the gate, rescuing his momentum with a good campaign speech in Iowa at the end.

Endorsement: Mitt Romney

Endorsement: 6. (Needed 6) Romney agrees to endorse Liz Cheney, providing the anti-Trumper a critical endorsement among part of the party that she will need if she can win the primary.

New Hampshire: 2. The strength of Trumpists in the party continues to grow, and Cheney is hounded even in New Hampshire, calling her a RINO and a Democrat.

South Carolina: 2. While Tucker's speech did not go well either, Cheney is rounded on for going after him after one of his better speeches in Iowa.

Iowa: 3. Cheney has slightly more success in Iowa, but is still very unpopular among the base.

Overall: -9 (-11 from rolls, +2 from endorsement) Cheney immediately stumbles out of the gate, but the Romney endorsement helps save a slight bit of her momentum.

Endorsement: 3. Scott refuses to endorse at this time, worried about angering the base before the primary is far from over.

Iowa: 3. Like Cheney, Rubio seems to stumble this week, particularly among the segment of the base that Trump favors.

New Hampshire: 4. A slightly better showing in New Hampshire, but critics pan the speech as being too bland.

Nevada: 3. What should have been a saving grace for the Rubio campaign turns to be just as much of a misfire, with not much of consequence coming from the meeting.

Overall: -8. A tough week for the pair of more moderate conservatives, especially since Rubio was hoping for a better week.

Endorsement: Governor DeSantis will meet with conservative radio personality Glenn Beck for his endorsement.

Endorsement: 8. (Needed 6) Beck endorses DeSantis, giving him a small boost into the campaign cycle this week!

Florida: 9. His event in his home state goes swimmingly, aiding to a perception that DeSantis is unbeatable in his home state.

Iowa: 3. His event in Iowa goes less well, as rural schools push back on the idea that they teach CRT.

Nevada: 8. DeSantis is popular with Hispanic voters, and it only goes further in this event.

Overall: +6 (+4 events, +2 endorsement)

Maryland: 3. The Maryland GOP is further to the right than himself, and many refuse to turn up to hear their own governor speak.

New Hampshire: 8. A much better event with business owners in Nashua, as many know the necessity of getting back to the basics of politics.

New Hampshire: 3. The tugboat operators of Portsmouth are less enthusiastic about Hogan, with a few challenging him on free trade.

Overall: -3. Hogan survives the week that has butchered fellow moderate competitors with only a few scrapes, which is saying something at this point.

Endorsement: (Needed 6) 9. Lauren Boebert endorses MTG, the two fitting together like peas in a pod!

Georgia: 7. A decent event in her home state, MTG gets the crowd fired up about the New World Order.

Birch Society: 1! Greene puts her foot in her mouth (as is common) and negative press lights her up, even on Fox, for the whole week.

QAnon: 4. Q seems to be less of a campaign issue in 2024 than it was in 2020, with many voters simply not caring.

Overall: -3. (-5 events, +2 endorsement) Boebert's campaign endorsement helps salvage what could have been a pretty dreary week otherwise.

Endorsement: 10! Trump Jr. receives an enthusiastic endorsement from Jim Jordan, who declares that Trump Jr. is the only one who could succeed Trump.

Pennsylvania: 10! Trump Jr.'s campaign starts off well, with many reminded of his father's visits to Pennsylvania.

Iowa: 7. The speech goes well, but some are unnerved by such public attacks on the likely frontrunner.

Iowa: 8. Iowa voters are appreciative of a large boon to their home state, hoping for an end to the waivers that were granted under his father.

Endorsement: 8. Sununu decides to be a bully to Hogan and immediately endorses Kasich. (Needed 6)

Ohio: 5. Kasich is spared some of the hurt other candidates have received, with his home state just choosing to give him a polite welcome to the field.

Iowa: 9. Kasich has a great event in Iowa, as the Trumpists were too busy mocking other candidates at the time!

New Hampshire: 3. Unfortunately, Kasich gets the hurt in New Hampshire. Both Democrats and farther right Republicans round on him during the event and make him look awkward.

Overall: +2 (0 from events, +2 endorsement) Sununu's endorsement helps Kasich scrape by with a positive week, but the real help was in Iowa.
