Popular Post MrPotatoTed
Recently discovered a fun, free, online game where you are presented with four real-world events that happened in world history. Choose one of the events, choose one of the potential alternate outcomes, and see how that changes world history. http://abw.blue/index_en.php?e=1 After making about ten of these changes, the timeline finalizes and you see what your end results were. I've had some wild timelines, including one that had modern day dinosaurs, and another where humanity was wiped out by the black plague. In fact, in this timeline mankind was wiped out early -- but I was able to bring things (kind of) back on track by changing another historical event. Here was my most recent timeline. While it's possible to go back as far as 11,000 BC, my point of departure begins in 1200 BC. -1200 BC: I go back in time to the Bronze Age and introduce the world to modern-day steel production principles. Naturally, this has a major impact on the rest of the timeline. -753 BC: I travel back and convince Roman empire to focus more on internal growth than external expansion. The City of Rome is founded by former slaves -659 BC: Rome becomes a Democracy, negotiates protectorates -563 BC: Buddha is born, I go back and help Buddhism spread in the West. -501 BC: The Roman Empire spreads across the known world, mostly through diplomacy -498 BC: The Great Buddha Temple in Rome helps unify Western faiths. - 336 BC: Alexander the Great becomes Emperor of Rome - 221 BC: Qin Shi Huang becomes Emperor of Rome - 4 BC: Jesus Christ is born and becomes a Buddhist prophet - 155 AD: Rome proposes the idea of a unified world government - 503: The Roman Empire becomes divided over religious issues - 999: The Buddhist "Holy Empire of the Sacred Fig Tree" unifies Europe - 1002: North Africa joins The Holy Empire -1066: William the Wise begins his reign as Head of England, after I go back in time to help William the Conqueror defeat his enemies and fellow claimants much faster/easier than happened historically. 1088: I go back in time to help promote making university attendance mandatory throughout the globe. Powerful universities are built across the planet. 1095: The First Crusade results in Europe conquering India 1100: The Kingdom of England begins a 120-year period of peace 1109: The modern scientific method is established 1133: The Kingdom of Jerusalem becomes a Protectorate of Arabia. 1150: Angkor Wat is built in Cambodia -- as a giant library, rather than as a temple. (my doing, as your friendly time traveler) 1193: Cambodia signs a peace treaty with Japan. 1210: Cambodia establishes The Great Exchange to spread Asian culture across the world. 1267: The Kingdom of England conquers the Kingdom of France. 1271: Marco Polo returns from a trip to Cambodia and tells of the great library there. 1310: European powers set out to conquer Cambodia and claim the knowledge stored in the library for themselves. 1347: The Black Plague is quickly defeated thanks to great advances in medicine. 1407: The Khmer (Cambodian) Luminous History is written 1445: The notion of ecology is discovered 1453: Constantinople becomes the cultural capital of the world. 1498: The Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama is visited by me and I convince him to focus on colonizing Africa instead of India. Leave the poor Indians alone. 1502: Academics begin arguing against slavery. 1508: Portugal establishes the first slave state, in the Congo. Whoops. 1517: The Western Schism of Buddhism leads to a new group, the Modern Buddhists. 1520: The Romans have conquered Turkey and Central Asia. 1522: The Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan discovers King Soloman's Mines during his explorations of Africa. 1576: Advanced studies on animals intelligence leads to the establishment of animal rights. 1588: Spain's invincible Armada conquers England. 1598: The Ethnic Cleansing of Protestants 1599: William Shakespear writes "Indra", heavily inspired by Cambodian culture. 1603: Portugal reigns over the 14 Slave States of Africa. 1607: Spain establishes the first colony in North America, Santiago Ciudad. 1609: The Pope (apparently there's still a Pope despite Buddhism) canonizes Gallileo for his holy scientific revelations. 1610: Rock music is invented! 1617: The Church of Logic and Faith is established. 1630: The Spanish Kingdom spans North and South America. 1642: With Spain in control, the English Civil War does not happen. 1680: The Bible is a compilation of scientific discoveries 1687: Cardinal Isaac Newton is canonized and the Church begins developing the Holy Rocket. 1688: Following persecution, the Modern Buddhists flee to America. 1700: Ottoman War of Independence 1707: The Portuguese "King of Blood" refuses calls for abolition of slavery. 1789: The Spanish-English Revolution begins 1804: Napoleon tries in vain to peacefully unify Europe over common values. 1807: The Slave States of Africa revolt against Portuguese control 1816: The Treaty of Khartoum: Portugal will retain control of Africa, but slavery is abolished. 1852: European nations unite under The Roman Council of Europe 1859: Charles Darwin is canonized, The Book of Genesis is replaced by The Evolution of Species. 1860: With my extremely accidental help (I misread the options) the Confederacy wins the American civil war. 1861: The Confederate States enshrine slavery into the Constitution 1867: Commodore Perry conquers Japan on behalf of The Confederate States. 1870: Invention of theoretical computer science 1872: The Great Division -- The Confederate States break apart into 3,242 autonomous counties 1877: The Japanese War for Independence 1879: Seizing upon new advancements in radio technology, nations across the world work together to develop the SETI program to potentially communicate with beings from outer space. 1880: English France and Spanish England unite to help Africa free itself from Portuguese control. 1903: Holy Satellites spread the Word of God across the whole world. 1904: The 1st World War pits Russia against the autonomous counties of the Confederate States for control over Japan. 1905: Korea attempts an insurrection and is heavily beaten. 1910: Samurais assassinate the Governor of Japan. Confederate Americans withdraw, leaving Japan in anarchy. 1915: A declaration of "radio war" with an alien race Proxima of the Centaur abruptly puts an end to the conflict in Japan. The Peace Party is established in every European country. 1917: World War II begins, again pitting Americans against Russians but this time in Europe, while Russia also cracks down on Japanese Communists? 1918: The Spanish Flu is quickly defeated thanks to globalized university research. 1920: Adolf Hitler establishes the Party of Collaboration with the Centaurians. 1921: The Party of Collaboration with the Centaurians demands the survival of the 3rd Reich in exchange for the survival of the rest of planet Earth. 1922: The Holy Mission leaves to colonize Mars. 1927: Japan invades China to restore order by annexing the country. 1928: The Second American Civil War 1929: Terror breaks out in the United States as lone Samurais create public massacres across America. Timur
I've tried this game before. I don't remember which option, but if you chose it, Adolf Hitler becomes a Communist.
SilentLiberty
I've been playing this about every day, it passes the time when I'm at work and don't have anything that needs to be done. I've had some wacky things happen. People in space super early, the world ending in 1948, just a bunch of things. There's a lot of options to play with but it's not endless possibilities, once you figure out what certain events trigger its easy to avoid them. Like if you pick streaming Hitler ends up super popular in Europe. If you have Russia revolt for capitalism Hilter ends up communist. There's also an American option that'll turn Hitler communist too. Just interesting how sometimes you're shoe horned into things. Very fun game though.
