The Japanese government will cut taxes. The Social Democrats in the Imperial Diet make sure to add a tax cut to the middle class instead of the wealth like most Social Conservatives propose.

The Japanese government will invest in infrastructure throughout rural Japan, hoping to connect the whole country with roads and rail.

The Japanese government will begin sending out troops to Manchuria in preparation of its future plans in China.

The Japanese government will begin building the latest weapons for its soldiers.

The Japanese navy will patrol the waters off of China in preparation of its plans.

1: Déat has come up with a novel way of educating the populace on why certain political actions are important, the radio. Déat will explain what the government is doing and why it is doing it in semi-informal weekly radio shows. The broadcasts will be performed the Chairman himself to build a connection to the people.

2: Wanting to make sure the commander of the army is a man whose dedication to the revolution is unquestionable, Déat will propose that Konstantin Rokossovsky be made head of the army of the Commune of France.

3: The Commune will push to develop infrastructure linking together population centres.

4: The Commune will propose creating new mutually beneficial trading links with the Republic of Brazil.

5: The Commune will sponsor new art movements and artists in France and will push to have successful exhibits and pieces travel outside of the big cities so that all can appreciate it.

1. Austria-Hungary will reach out to the Greek government about joining the Austrian economic program. The country is already deeply intertwined with the economies of both Serbia and Greece, and hopes that expanding influence in Athens will aid Austria's regional ideas. They offer some protective guarantees as a way to sweeten the deal with Vienna. They know that the Greeks are still concerned about a revanchist Ottoman State.

2. Austria-Hungary also will look towards Italy and the small Italian Republic that the Austrians have propped up nestled against the Austrian border. They work with that government on preparing a team of spies to send into the syndicalist state further south, aiming to cause instability while France and Britain are preoccupied elsewhere.

3. The Dual Monarchy will continue preparations for the Augsleich negotiations of 1937, sitting down with a meeting between an Austrian negotiation team and a Hungarian one, aiming to settle differences between the two so the negotiations will go even smoother.

4. In order to continue the progress the army has begun, there is an exploratory committee formed during a meeting in Prague about beginning to form an air force. The country has little navy and a strengthening armed forces - an air force would aid the country immensely and bring them closer to the modern era. The goal is to hire advisers from civil society in Germany, the US, or Canada in order to begin training predominantly Austrian pilots who will, in turn, train other members of the nation.

5. Austria is worried about the progression of the economy, and orders a review into how the Dual Monarchy can improve the economics in the state and to act on those recommendations.

1. @Willthescout7 Boris Savinkov will commence his state visit to the German Empire. As they discuss a future partnership, and mend old wounds, Savinkov would propose a stand against Syndicalism around the globe. Savinkov states, "Syndicalism is the true enemy of the people. It consumes a society into irrelevance, it destroys pride in ones country, it is a despicable movement. It is a plague on humanity." Savinkov would formally propose the Anti-Syndicalist Pact; which outlines a unilateral trade embargo on all Syndicalist nations. Cutting them off from the economic powerhouses of the German Empire, and Russian State. Other nations are invited and welcome to attend. Formal invitations are sent to the true British Government. @The Blood Along with the Sultan in Istanbul @Rezi, and the Austro-Hungarian throne, @Hestia.

2. Kornilov and Savinkov, alongside their cabinet, will promote Nationalist education throughout the country. Moving on from the days of the Tsar, President Kerensky, and the failures of both regimes. All Syndicalist and Democratic material is banned from schools, and any books promoting such propaganda are ordered to be seized by the military and burned. As usual, all suspected syndicalists, democrats, tsarists, are to be sent to the "camps."

3. Savinkov will begin attempting to expand the power of his Black Shirts. After initial failure, Savinkov will form the KGB (Committee for State Security.) Designed to crack down on all dissentious activity to the Russian State. Their first mission will be the execution of top Syndicalists and Democrats. The Romanovs, while stupid, deserve a slight better treatment than death in a Siberian gulag. House arrest is fitting.

4. Savinkov will order General Boris Shopshnikov to begin training exercises and immediate preparation for invasion in the Far East. On the border with Transamur: the false state lead by the traitor Alexander Kolchak.

5. @Kitten Finally, Savinkov will visit Japan for the remainder of the month. Meeting the Emperor and forming a strong bond with the Japanese nation. Savinkov will propose what will be known as the Tokyo Accords. Outlining plans for the future of the Russian State, and Japanese Empire. As long as Japan does not interfere in defending the false state of Transamur, Russia will not interfere in Imperial ambitions of the Japanese Empire. An economic pact is also proposed, hoping to bolster the economic strength of both nations.

1. The German Empire readily joins with the Russian State and their Anti-Syndicalist Pact. They hope this is the beginning of a long and prosperous relationship.

2. Germany will reach out to @Hestia to look into a trade agreement to bolster their two nations. Let the neighbors be friends.

3. Germany will continue to modernize their military under their new general.

4. Encourages their new head of police to continue to root out corruption, informing him that improvement must be seen or he will find himself out of a job. The German people must feel confident in their law enforcement.

5. The German chancellor will hold a day of celebration with his citizens, to honor the sacrifices and loyalty of his people as they move forward into the future.

Event 1. The King in Europe: King Edward was most exhausted from the political wrangling at home. Having received a cold reception from the Canadian public upon his ascension to the throne, and with PM King having thus far outmaneuvered him politically with Bill C-7, Edward needed to get away from it all. So, when the opportunity came for King Edward to travel to the German Empire, he took it excitedly. Only sending a small letter to PM King stating his travel plans, Edward would set off via plane, arriving in Berlin in the first official state visit of his reign. Edward would meet with the Kaiser and Savinkov, openly admiring the more "adherent" forms of government in both Germany and Russia. Then, exercising his Royal Prerogatives, the King will pledge the whole of the British Dominions and Empire to the Anti-Syndicalist Pact, signing the pact as a representative of his subjects in India, Australasia, Canada, the West Indies, and South Africa. King Edward had of course discussed this with and notified most of the relevant Dominion governments, except for the government of Prime Minister King in Canada. While he had told the PM of his intentions to travel to Berlin, Edward had not notified Mackenzie of any pact signing, with King Edward reasoning that if the Prime Minister thought he could govern Canada independently of Royal influence, then the King could exercise his prerogatives to determine Canada's foreign policy independently of the Prime Minister's government. After signing the Anti-Syndicalist Pact, the King would stay in Berlin for an extra day to enjoy the city, before finally deciding to not return home to Canada, but instead to fly to a new location.

Event 2. The King in India: Those pesky Afghans were at it again. After already snatching up territory in the chaos following the British Revolution, Afghanistan thought it could bully British India once again. This time, however, the King himself wished to show the Afghans who ruled over India. Arriving in Delhi, the King would meet with Ganga Singh and the Indian government, discussing the state of the war and India's ability to repel the Afghan menace. After this meeting, King Edward would take a train directly to the front to visit with the brave soldiers facing the Afghani armies, hoping that his visit to the front will inspire determination and a fighting spirit in the Indian army. Finally, the King will return to Delhi, concluding his visit and heading home to Canada.

Event 3. Old Debts: The Conservatives and King Edward knew that the stability and perseverance of the United States was essential to their ultimate goal of liberating the home isles. A syndicalist takeover of the US would jeopardize not only this mission, but also Canada itself, and a friendly relationship with America would prove beneficial to Canada in the long run. As such, the Conservatives would propose new legislation implementation a Federal value-added tax of 5%, with all revenues being committed to payments on the British Empire's debts to the US borrowed during World War One. While some question implementing such a tax for this purpose, the bill will stipulate that the funds will only go to the US if America agrees to set its tariffs on Canadian products to 0% @Cenzonico, with the tax revenues free to use for other purposes if the tariffs are not dropped. R.B. Bennett will argue that in return for each Canadian paying a small tax on every purchase they make, Canadian industry and exports will be strengthened by the elimination of American tariffs, creating growth, jobs, and a trickle-down effect of strengthened exports creating wealth and prosperity for all Canadians.

Event 4. The Senate Plan: Recognizing that the Liberals have a clear path to passing Bill C-7 in the House of Commons, the Conservatives and King Edward will devise a plan to kill the bill in the Senate of Canada. With many members of the Senate being British exiles appointed by King George, King Edward will begin personally meeting with Senators, discussing how Bill C-7 is simply not right for Canada nor the goal of reconquering Britian, and asking for their commitment to kill the bill once it reaches their chamber of Parliament. R.B. Bennett will also make the rounds, promising to reverse PM King's decision to block Senate members from serving in the cabinet, pledging that once he is elected as Prime Minister, many cabinet spots will be filled by Senate members who proved their loyalty striking down Bill C-7. King Edward and Bennett hope to show Prime Minister King that he is not the only voice in the Canadian government, using the Senate to prove that the Liberals' power is limited, even with control of the House of Commons.

Event 5. The People's King: Having completed his work swaying Senate members against Bill C-7, the King will decide that it is time to strengthen his popularity with the Canadian people. He will do this by going on tour, taking a train all across Canada to visit both the major cities and medium-sized population centers. On this tour, the King will not only serve as a surrogate for the Conservative Party but will also give passionate speeches on the need for Canadians to "do their part" in preparing for the liberation of the home isles, raging against the "syndicalist dogs" who have taken over Britain. The King will meet with everyday people, speaking with them and hearing their concerns, and he hopes that his tour across Canada will improve his popularity among his subjects, as he is hopefully seen as a true people's King.

Event 1: Anti-Syndicalist Pact - Foreign Minister Ismet Pasha and the Sultan proudly stand side by side at the Dolmabahçe Palace to announce that the Ottoman Empire will heed Savinkov’s request and join the Anti-Syndicalist Pact. The Sultan hopes that this pact can help to mend relations between the former allies of the Great War along with the Russians to keep a world order of strong nations together. @Pringles

Event 2: Military Police - Grand Vizier Kemal and his subordinates debut a plan to create a new branch of the military, the “İstikrar polisi”. He sees to it that this new force works closely with the army to ensure that citizens within certain unruly provinces are not entertaining any wacky ideas that may be out of line for the Empire. The İstikrar polisi debut in the Vilayets of Diyarbekir, Kars, and Van. With The Grand Vizier believing the Arabs to be loyal after the Sultan’s tour of the Levant, he turns to these Vilayets as means of keeping the Kurdish Tribes in line with the Empire. He does not fear rebellion as the Kurds have been loyal to the cause of Turkification against other ethnicities, but the Kurds have a strong sense of regionalism that must be kept in check.

Event 3: Development of African Territories - The Emirate of Cyrenaica and the Vilayet of Tripolitania are a constant headache for the Sultan. The areas are plagued by rebellious tribes and low quality of life. As such, the two territories will be reorganized into the Emirate of Libya, and will be the subject of economic investment from the Sultan. With all luck, the tribes of the area can unite into a powerful subject, loyal to the Pan-Islamic cause of the Empire.

Event 4: Islamic Unity under Secular Government  - The Grand Vizier meets together with Sunni, Shiite, and Ibadi religious leaders to build a plan for how the sects, which have formerly been at each others' throats, can put aside their differences to work towards a better future for all Muslims. Mustafa Kemal conveys his dream of a world where Muslims stand together as brothers, under the hood of a secular Empire which accepts all religions and faiths. Admittedly, the Empire would grow such that the vast majority would be Islamic, which is the goal, but no other religions or sects would see discrimination.

Event 5: A Friend in Egypt? - Sultan Abdulmejid II requests from the Egyptian Government a historic meeting between the Sultans of the two nations, as well as a meeting between Mustafa Kemal Pasha and Egyptian Prime Minister Aly Maher. The Grand Vizier seeks to propose an expansion of the Ottoman railway system, and will seek to broker a deal between the Ottoman Government, the Egyptian Government, and the Palestine Railways company to expand rail through Egyptian cities of Kairo and Alexandria towards the Emirate of Libya in the West. This means investment would bolster both the Ottoman and Egyptian economies. If the meeting goes very well, the Sultan will consider issuing a formal apology for their maltreatment of Egyptians during Ottoman occupation.

1. The Garner-Wagner Bill continues to be debated in the House, but a verdict is expected to be reached soon.

2. Herbert Hoover writes a short letter to the King of Canada (@The Blood) about recent developments

Dear Edward VIII,

For the good of both our countries, I will take your deal.

                                                             Kind regards,

                                                           Herbert C. Hoover

3. Herbert Hoover by executive order sets the tariff rate on Canadian goods to zero. In a statement Hoover would say,

Quote

If America as a nation is going to recover from the brink depths of the Great Depression, we need to cultivate economic partnerships with the countries around us. Canada is a valued partner in North American affairs and as a gesture of good will, I have decided to take this recent course of action. Protectionism during this time simply works to only hurt our already sickly economy.

 4. Hoover will against the advice of many in his inner circle attempt to try to tour the Midwest once again. Herbert's rationale believes that he needs to assert himself as President of the United States to look strong and not weak in the face of radical threats. And if those socialists come up again? Well this time, it won't stop him.

5. Behind the scenes, Hoover starts to get buddy buddy with Republican party bosses. You see, Herbert has an idea in his head. With the radical left and radical right surging across the nation, sane politics needs to unify in order to defeat both of those aforementioned sides. So he proposes the idea of a "Coalition" party. This will be a unity ticket unveiled later on in the year between the Democrats and the Republicans for one purpose only. Make sure Jack Reed nor Huey Long take power.

The Union of Britain wants to promote itself as a shining beacon of Socialism, showing what can be achieved. As such corruption must be fought head on. Independent review committees will be established to investigate corruption.

Armament will continue as the Union of Britain will continue to invest into its naval and air defenses. As well as anti ship and anti aircraft weaponry the Union will also invest in building an airforce and navy.

In an effort to boost its own economy as well as further establish itself as a nation and normalize itself in the international community, the Union of Britain will reach out to form trade agreements with other nations.

The Union of Britain will begin investing in different sources of electricity, seeking to make use of every method it can to generate power. The aim of this being to ensure that every home is lit and warm for all citizens.

In another attempt to fight corruption the Union of Britain will encourage local representatives to hold regular meetings with constituents, in addition to this regular radio broadcasts of the current goings on in Government will be held to increase transparency.

Germany

Germanic Brotherhood: 10 – The Austrians were very busy this month, perhaps you can try again next month.

The Transamur Crisis

Transamur Preparations: 2

R-Tokyo Accords: 6

Chinese Preparations: 16

Japanese Modernization: 7

J-Tokyo Accords: 5

The early-morning dew glistened as the first glimmers of the sun peaked over the hilltops. A Transamuran soldiers lit a cigarette as he maintained a lonely vigil on the Russian-Transamur border. The light of his cigarette illuminated his face in the dim early-morning light. A moment later a sniper’s bullet ripped its way through the soldier’s skull.

As the sentry’s body crumpled to the ground, a squad of camouflaged Russian special forces rose from the foliage on the Russian side of the border. “Nice shot, Eagle!” the youngest of the commandos complimented as he rose. “Quiet up, and spread out!” the graying commander ordered, “We need to destroy the enemy munitions factory, and get back before 1200 hours.” he continued.

The four man squad crossed the Transamur border, and stealthily traversed the rough landscape. Eventually, they came upon their target, a Transamuran weapons factory essential to the supply of the Transamuran army. Two sentries guarded each door to the factory floor, in addition to a two man patrol on the roof, and an additional two man patrol around the building. As the outer patrol crossed by the still shadowy woods, a sound emanated from behind-and-to-the-right of it. One of the patrolmen went to investigate the sound, leaving his comrade isolated hence making him easy prey for the commando who slit his throat silently. A second later, a different commando shot the final patrolman twice in his chest, and once in the head. “Scorpion, Dragon, you two take the ground floor,” the commander ordered as he handed a satchel of explosives to commando Dragon, “The kid, and I will take the roof.” he continued, handing a second bag to the youngest commando, “Understood Commander!” the three subordinates replied, as they went to their positions.

The commander was the first to climb the rusty ladder to the roof, spying the patrolmen slacking off. One of the patrolmen was urinating on the far diagonal side of the roof, the other taking a smoke break directly across from the ladder, both had their backs towards the commander, as they stared into the leaky sunlight of early dawn. The commander quickly produced a suppressed pistol from his chest holster, and eliminated the patrol on the roof.

The commander checked on the younger commando as he clambered up the side of the building, high-explosives in tow. “Don’t drop those explosives, kid.” the commander said, as he helped the commando to the roof. The pair walked to an opening in the factory skylight, before the commander took a knee, and spoke into his communicator, “Scorpion, have you entered the factory yet?” he asked, “Affirmative, Commander, we’ve already begun planting our explosives.” Scorpion answered. The two men entered the factory through the skylight, dropping down onto the catwalks below.

“We’ll start with those crates over there.” the commander said, pointing to a stack of closed crates, filled with completed weapons. The two men walked to the pile of crates, and began sticking explosive charges to the outsides of them. “Put some on the inside too,” the commander ordered, to which the rookie cracked open a crate lid, before freezing. The rookie pulled out one of the weapons that the Transmurans had made, displaying a modern-looking sub-machine gun, “Hey boss, isn’t this a bit better than what the Transmuran army usually uses?” he asked. The commander thought for a moment, while feeling the side of the left side of the crate, before feeling a familiar symbol. Looking down, the commander found the answer to his query, “That’s because this factory isn’t making weapons for the Transmuran military,” he began, “They’re making it for the Japanese military.”

A moment later, the factory was filled with blinding white light, as a Japanese officer ordered the surrender of the ‘partisans’ who had taken over the factory. “Rebel scum, exit the weapons factory at once, and we may grant you leniency!” the officer ordered, “Dragon, Scorpion, get out of there, now!” the commander ordered. “Exit now, or you will leave us no choice!” the officer yelled, “A soldier must be willing to sacrifice everything for his nation.” Scorpion told the commander, “Farewell, Commander.” he said, sliding open the factory’s front doors.

“Dammit, he’s going to blow the factory, we’ve got to get out now!” the commander ordered, turning his young comrade in the direction of the factory’s rear windows. “Put down the detonator!” the officer ordered as Scorpion exited the factory, hands above his head, explosives detonator clearly visible in the bright lights of the armored car. “God is with us.” Scorpion said, before clicking the detonation button, causing an explosion to rip through the factory. The commander threw the rookie out of the factory, before tossing himself out as well, a split moment before the explosion reached the end of the factory.

“C’mon, kid, gotta get back to base.” the commander coughed out, grabbing onto the heavily wounded rookie’s shoulder. The commander attempted to rise to his feet, but his body, burned by the explosion, and broken from the fall, was not in fighting shape. A few moments later a squad of Japanese infantrymen found the two men. The commander looked at the Japanese rifles pointed at his face, and realized he had no chance of escape. “Son of a…”

A New York Times daily with the headline; “Russian Special Forces Captured in Transamur!” was dropped in front of Savinkov by the Russian Ambassador to Japan. “This is a disaster.” the ambassador complained, the Japanese public want blood for this, they are treating this as an attack on them, and their national honor!” he continued. Savinkov thought for a moment before asking, “How will this effect the Tokyo Accords?” he asked, “We’ll be lucky if this doesn’t lead to a second Russo-Japanese war.” the ambassador said. Savinkov nodded, “The King, and Kaiser will be here shortly,” he said, “We can continue discussions of this after the Anti-Syndicalist League has been made official.”

The Hunt For Bukharin

Nationalist Education: 14

KGB: 13

The harsh light in the interrogation room stung the syndicalist’s eyes. “I’m going to ask you one more time,” the Blackshirt interrogator began, “Where is Bukharin?” he asked. “I. Don’t. Know.” the syndicalist said slowly, struggling to breath between each word. The interrogator adjusted a dial, and pressed a button on a nearby console, zapping the syndicalist with electricity. “I have all day, scum, you’re just wasting your time.” the interrogator sneered. “Fuck. You.” the syndicalist said defiantly.

The door to the dim interrogation room opened slightly, and a second Blackshirt, a handsome soldier in comparison to the rough-faced interrogator, entered. “Perhaps we should try a new approach.” the handsome Blackshirt advised, searching the table that held the syndicalist’s personal effects. After a few moments the soldier smiled, having found an ‘in’. The handsome soldier nudged the interrogator out of the way, before showing the syndicalist a photo of him, and his family. “Nice family,” he said, “It would be a shame if they had to be caught up in all this, due to your insolence,” he threatened, “They’re not a part of this!” the syndicalist protested, “Tell us where Bukharin is, or they will be!” the soldier demanded. The Syndicalist blanched, and remained silent for a moment, before telling the two men in a quiet, scare voice, “Petrograd, we have a safehouse in Petrograd.” The soldier smiled, and turned to his fellow blackshirt. “I will go to Petrograd, and root out the Syndicalist menace,” the soldier told the interrogator, “And what is to be done with our guest?” the interrogator asked. The soldier smiled, shrugged, and told the interrogator, “Do with him what you wish, Pyotr.” he said, before leaving the room, and leaving the Syndicalist to his fate.

A modified Russian APC, painted in the colors, and regalia of Savinkov’s Blackshirts, raced down the streets of Petrograd, before opening fire on an unassuming tenement building. Moments later the occupants of the tenement returned fire, and the APC was joined by a refurbished troop-transport filled with Blackshirts. After a bevy of machine gun fire from the APC, the tenement windows quieted, the Syndicalist forces retreating deeper into the building to await their foe, and giving the blackshirts an opportunity to organize themselves.

The handsome soldier, now in the battle dress of a blackshirt sergeant, exited the APC’s passenger seat, and shouted an order for his section to organize. “Split into five teams of four, two floors each!” he ordered, “Radio in if you find Bukharin!” he continued. “You four, with me, we’ll take the ground, and second floor.” he ordered pointing to a group of soldiers in the first row, “Affirmative Sergeant Andreev!” the sergeant’s platoon obediently yelled back.

A stocky man from the sergeant's squad kicked down the front door of the tenement, before quickly using his shotgun to blast a syndicalist partisan that had taken cover behind the front desk. A burst of submachine gun fire from a young blackshirt eliminated another pair of syndicalists who attempted to fire at the pointman. “Tear this place apart, and don’t stop looking until you find Bukharin!” he ordered. “We found the building’s owner, boss!” a rifleman from Sergeant Andreev’s squad called, having burst down the door to a small apartment which took up half of the ground floor. “I’m not a syndicalist, I’m not a syndicalist!” the owner cried, “Right,” the sergeant sneered, “Restrain him, and set him outside with the other occupants!” he ordered.

With the ground floor having been cleared, Sergeant Andreev, and his squad moved up the stairs to the tenement’s second floor. They were met by five syndicalist partisans, all armed with bolt-action rifles, spread throughout the long hallway that made up the second floor. The stocky pointman of Andreev’s squad was winged in the shoulder by a syndicalist bullet, knocking him to the floor. Andreev moved the stocky blackshirt out of his way, took his shotgun, and ordered his squad’s rifleman “Get him to a medic!” before turning to the other two blackshirts under his direct command, “You two lay down suppressive fire, I’m advancing.”

The two blackshirts unleashed a volley of sub-machine gun fire, as Sergeant Andreev crouch-ran towards the syndicalist positions. Two sub-machine gun bullets eliminated the syndicalist closest to the stairwell, and the sergeant eliminated the syndicalist kitty-corner from the first syndicalist. A mustached syndicalist charged at the sergeant, taking advantage of a moment of calm when the blackshirts reloaded their carbines. The sergeant quickly reacted by emptying a slug into the syndicalist’s stomach, causing him to crumple to the floor lifelessly.

“Advance!” the sergeant ordered, before running closer to the two remaining syndicalists. When the sergeant was halfway to the end of the hallway, an apartment door burst open, and a knife wielding syndicalist grappled the sergeant. Falling to the floor with the syndicalist, the sergeant wrestled with his foe as the other two syndicalists charged from their position. As the syndicalists approached, the sergeant gained the upper hand on his opponent, using his foe’s own knife against him. A syndicalist rifleman came upon the sergeant, and pointed his rifle at him. Before the syndicalist could get a shot off, he, and his comrade were executed by the two blackshirts at the far end of the hallway. “Search the apartments!” the sergeant ordered as he rose to his feet.

After a few hours of rigorous, and invasive searching, the blackshirts killed 23 syndicalist partisans, and captured 35 suspected syndicalists supporters from among the building’s residents. They did not, however, find Bukharin. “The rat must have lied.” a blackshirt corporal said as he, and Sergeant Andreev commiserated about the mission. The sergeant lit a cigarette, and huffed, “Truthfully, I knew he didn’t have Bukharin’s location,” he admitted, “What?” the corporal asked, “This raid wasn’t to capture Bukharin, though that would have been nice, it was to show the syndicalists that we’re hunting them, and that we’ll always find them, eventually.” he said. The sergeant puffed a drag from his cigarette, looked at the crowd of captured syndicalists, and raised an open-palmed hand to the sky. Once his men were ready, the sergeant closed his hand into a fist, and jerked his hand down, ordering his men as he did so to, “Fire!”

The Berlin Conference

Prelude to the Next Great War? Asked the headline of the NY Times newspaper that Mackenzie King presented to his cabinet. “We’re making a pact with the Germans?” the economic minister asked, “Did you know about this?” he continued, looking up at the Prime Minister. “I was informed of this ‘pact’ when I read the daily paper.” King said, taking his seat at the head of the table, “Why would the King do this without our consent?” the foreign minister asked. “If he thinks he can run Canada like it’s the 16th century, he’s got another thing coming.” King said sternly.

A moment later the conference room’s phone rang. King stood from the table, and answered the phone, being immediately greeted by a very pissed off French man. “What in God’s name has gotten into you, and your King?” the French Ambassador asked, “I understand-” King began before being cut off by the ambassador, “Working with the Germans – The Germans of all people!” he cried, “They’re the reason we were forced to flee to Africa!” he said indignantly. “You’ll need to take that up with the King, when he returns, I was not informed beforehand of any plan to form a pact with the Central Powers, and Russia.” King said, before hanging up. “That dog-faced absolutist will pay for this.” he grumbled, “I’ll make sure of it.”

The Italian Job

Destabilize Italy: 4

The small briefing room was filled with smoke from the cigarette that one of the Austrian spies was smoking. The smoker, Andreas Barath, leaned back in his chair, focusing his mind as he often did before a mission. Barath was an old man, for a spy at least, one of the few German-trained Austro-Hungarian snipers from the Weltkrieg that were still in fighting condition. After a few moments of quiet, an Italian commander opened the door to the briefing room.

“Stuff the cigarette, and listen up!” the commander ordered, before unfurling a map of the Syndicalist occupied city of Torino. Barath broke his cigarette in two, and snuffed it beneath his boot-heel as the commander began to detail the plan, “You’ll be split into two teams, one sniper, and one spotter each.” the commander began. “Agent Klaus, your spotter will Agent DiNardo,” the commander said, motioning towards the other Austrian sniper-turned-spy in the briefing room, “Agent Barath, your spotter for this mission will be Agent Mancuso.” he continued, as a man, and a woman both in the uniform of an Italian intelligence officer, entered the briefing room.

Barath eyed the woman, before rising from his chair, and walking to the front of the room. “Where is Agent Mancuso?” he questioned, “I am, Agent Mancuso.” the woman answered. “A female spy!?” Barath sneered, looking at the commander for an explanation. “I assure you Agent Mancuso is one of my best agents, now take a seat so that I can continue our briefing.” the mustached commander ordered. Barath grumbled as he reclaimed his seat, yet nonetheless allowed the briefing to continue.

“If our intelligence is correct, then the higher-ups of the Unione Sindacalista will be meeting in this hotel to strategize for the upcoming elections.” the commander said, pointing on the map to the hotel in question. “Agents Klaus, and DiNardo will set up here,” the commander said, pointing to an abandoned building that overlooked the western face of the hotel, “While Agents Barath, and Mancuso will set up here.” he continued, moving his finger to a church belfry that would function as a vantage point for the hotel’s northern face. “Klaus, and DiNardo will eliminate President Palmiro Togliatti, while Barath, and Mancuso will eliminate Chairman Antonio Gramsci.” the commander said, pinning pictures of both men to the edge of the map as he did so, “If we succeed, we’ll effectively cut off the head of the Syndicalist menace to our west, making our eventual job of reconquest much easier.” he continued. “Any questions?” he asked, purposefully locking eyes with Agent Barath as he did so. Barath shook his head no, and the briefing was over.

*/*/*/*/*

The setting sun peaked over the rooftops of Torino, as Agent Andreas Barath, and Agent Isabella Mancuso sat in a small cafe, posing as a couple of Greek newlyweds. Barath lit a cigarette, and looked at the spy across from him. “They must be desperate.” he said, causing Mancuso to look at him, “Why else would they send a woman on a mission like this.” he continued. “I have been with The Organization for three years now,” Mancuso began defiantly, “And for your information, I volunteered for this assignment.” she added. “Really!” Barath said incredulously, “What made a pretty young woman like yourself want to come along on a trip like this?” he asked, leaning forward in mock-anticipation.

“My first memories as a child is me being carried away on my mother’s shoulder, as I watched my village burn.” she began. “Syndicalists invaded my village, killing anyone who opposed them, brothers, fathers…” She continued, “My father.” she said, a far off look in her eye. “I will never forget what the Syndicalists did to my family, I only wish that I could be the one to put an end to Gramsci’s miserable existence.” she said, quiet fury in her voice, as she remained mindful of maintaining her cover story. Before Barath could respond, the teams’ handler told them, “Time to get moving agents, our contact within the President’s staff has confirmed that Togliatti, and Gramsci have arrived at the hotel.”

Barath reached under his table, grabbed the suitcase that held the deconstructed sniper-rifle, and rose to his feet, Mancuso following close behind. The pair of spies exited the café through the front door, before quickly ducking into a side alley which led to the church they were supposed to set up in. Just as Barath was exiting the alleyway, he was stopped by Mancuso jerking on his sleeve “Wait!” she said, “There’s a syndicalist patrol right over there.” she explained, pointing to two SRI soldiers who were standing guard in front of the church. “They must be here because of the big meeting.” Barath realized, “We need to find a way around them.” he continued.

“I have an idea.” Barath said after a few seconds of thought, “Pose as a local, and tell the guards you overheard a couple of Russians in the alley over there, and that you think they might be blackshirts.” he explained, pointing to an alleyway which would obscure the church from the guardsmen's eyes once they were in it. Mancuso played along, walking up to the guardsmen, and telling them “I think I overheard two men in that alleyway over there,” she said, pointing to the alley in question, “I think they were speaking Russian, they kept mentioning someone named, ‘Savinkov’, I’m concerned they might be up to no good.” she continued, playing the role of a concerned syndicalist citizen. The guards looked at each other, told her, “We’ll look into this right away, stay where you are ma’am.” before marching off in the direction of the alley that Mancuso pointed to. As soon as she was out of earshot of the guards, she motioned for Barath to join her, and picked the church’s front gate’s lock.

Mancuso subtly opened the front gate to the churchyard, before she, and Barath walked the now dark path to the church proper. The two then traveled up the creaky stairs of the belfry to their sniping position. Once there Barath opened the briefcase, and quickly re-assembled the sniper rifle, before aiming towards the brightly lit rooms of the hotel across from him. “Come in First Team, do you read me?” Mancuso asked into her communicator. After being answered with static, Mancuso asked again, “First Team, are you in position?” to which the answer was more static.

Mancuso looked over to the abandoned building where First Team was supposed to set up, and attempted to radio them again. “DiNardo, report!” she said, a moment before the floor she was observing exploded into flame. “Shit!” Barath yelled, as he looked over to the destroyed building. “Second team, your cover is blown, get out of there, now!” their handler ordered, “Don’t have to tell me twice!” Barath said, as he, and Mancuso quickly abandoned their positions.

Mancuso, and Barath quickly ran through the church, before encountering the two guards from earlier in the courtyard. “Stop right there, reactionary scum!” one of the guards shouted as they drew their weapons, and aimed at the pair of spies. Mancuso quickly dispatched the Syndicalist guards with her silenced pistol, modified to be used by a southpaw gunsman, before she, and Barath escaped into the dark alley across from the church.

Before the pair could exit the other end of the alleyway, both ends of it were blocked off by Torino police cars. “To the roof!” Barath cried, pointing to a nearby ladder, which he, and Mancuso quickly climbed. Soon after the two spies arrived on the roof, they came under fire from a Syndicalist sniper who shot Agent Mancuso in her right shoulder, knocking her to the floor. Barath quickly took aim with his rifle, and shot the sniper who had injured his comrade. Barath checked on Mancuso, and applied pressure to her wound to stem the bleeding, before quickly finding himself surrounded by a mixed assortment of Torino policemen, and SRI soldiers. Surrounded, and unwilling to abandon his wounded comrade, Agent Barath laid down his weapon, and surrendered himself to the SRI forces.

Scorching Sands

Islamic Unity: 20

Military Police: 1

African Developments: 2

The explosive tumbled out of the satchel that it had been hidden in, onto the table. It was rudimentary, clearly homemade, but nonetheless deadly. The Grand Vizier froze, his eyes going wide as he stared at the bomb’s ticking countdown. Around him he could hear muffled shouting, and at the edge of his vision he saw movement, but his mind was dominated by only one question. How could this have happened?

*/*/*/*/*

A few hours earlier, a platoon of the newly formed Istikrar Polisi raided a sleepy Kurdish village in Eastern Turkey. The Turks ripped the air of the once peaceful village with gunfire as they rampage through the village, tearing fathers from homes, and children from their mothers. A stocky, mustached Turk grabbed a young woman as she attempted to flee from the rampaging military policemen. As he began to drag the woman towards away, a sniper’s bullet perforated his head. As the Turkish soldier fell to the ground dead, the young woman he had attempted to capture stripped his rifle from his body, before running for cover.

Soon after the sniper began picking off the Turkish soldiers, he was joined by the common people of the village, firing on the invaders either with weapons that they owned, or that they had plucked from the dead, and the dying. “Fall back, fall back!” the Turkish lieutenant ordered, before he too was silenced by the sniper’s bullet. The remaining soldiers took cover behind their vehicles, and began to return fire on the Kurds.

“This is delta platoon, we have encountered heavy resistance, requesting assistance, Command.” the platoon’s radioman communicated to Istikrar Polisi Central Command. A moment went by before the central radioman answered, “Negative Delta, we cannot offer you any assistance at this time,” in a calm voice, “Why the hell not!?” the field radioman asked in an annoyed tone, “Our situation board’s lit up like a damn Christmas tree, we’re getting reports of attacks on the Empire all over the place, from the Kurds, the Armenians, even the Libyans. We’re too stretched thin at the moment to offer you any assistance, you’ll just have to hold out until we get a better handle on the situation.” central ordered. “Son of a bitch…” the radioman complained, before returning fire on the Kurdish militia.

*/*/*/*/*

A knock at the door interrupted the meeting between the Grand Vizier, and the various religious leaders of the Ottoman Empire. A moment later two guardsmen entered the meeting room, “What is the cause of this interruption!?” the Grand Vizier asked in annoyance, “My lord, we’re getting reports of violence from all over the empire,” one of the guards began, “We fear that you may be in danger.” he continued. “I assure you, there is no rebel threat here.” the Grand Vizier said confidently.

“Actually, my lord,” one of the aides assigned to the meeting began, rising from his chair, and grabbing his briefcase in one hand “It would appear that you have seriously overestimated your safety.” he continued. “What is the meaning of this!?” the Grand Vizier said, “For generations, my people have suffered under the thumb of the Turks,” the aide said, placing the briefcase on the table. “No longer, today is the day that we Kurds have our revenge.” he continued, clicking open his briefcase to reveal a bomb.

The revelation of the bomb caused some to lurch away, and others, including the Grand Vizier, to freeze. “No!” one of the guards shouted, as he took aim, and shot the aide in the head. As the aide’s body fell to the ground, the other guards lept onto the bomb, using his body as a shield. A moment later, the bomb exploded, killing the guardsman, but sparring the lives of the other would-be-victims. Bloody Friday, as it would come to be called, would spark the beginning of a civil war within the Ottoman Empire, between a united front of Turks, Arabs, and Islamic Fundamentalists, against a coalition of Libyan, Kurdish, Armenian, and religious minorities within the Ottoman Empire.

“With the success of the Garner-Wagner Bill, and the successful negotiations for the repayment of Canada’s war debts, the economy is looking to be back on track for the first time since the war,” Hoover said as he began a meeting between the Republican Party Bosses, “Assuming, that the global economy doesn’t crash soon!” he continued jovially. “Get to the point, Herb.” the Governor of Vermont said stubbornly. “I wanted to gather you gentlemen here today to discuss our strategy for the upcoming Presidential election.” Herbert said.

“As you know, the Socialist Party, and the America First Party have been gaining ground in the polls lately,” Herbert began, presenting a poll which showed the SPA, and AFP in a dead heat for first-place, followed by the Democrats, Republicans, and Farmer Labor Parties in descending order. "But as we can also see, a majority of voters still back either us, the FLP, or the Democrats instead of one of the more radical parties." he continued, pointing to the moderate parties which, when combined, would make up a slim majority of voters. "My proposal is that we form a coalition between Republicans, Democrats, and Farmer-Laborites, which in turn would prevent the radicals from getting elected with a plurality of the vote." Hoover finished.

“You make a good argument, Herbert.” Alf Landon said, having listened quietly during the rest of the meeting, “It would be in our best interests to work with the other moderate parties to prevent the radicals from gaining power.” he continued. “Then our only question is who to have as our Presidential candidate.” Herbert said, “Well, I assure you it won’t be you.” Landon said. “What?” Hoover asked, to which Landon responded to by sliding a copy of that day’s New York Times over to the President. The headline was reporting on the riot that had been caused by Hoover’s visit to Chicago, “You’re politically toxic, Hoover, if we want to win we need to get as far away from your administration as possible.” Landon said. Hoover scoffed, and looked around at his fellow Republicans finding stone faced stares among his colleagues, “Curtis, you of all people-” he began, turning to his Vice-President, “I’m sorry Herbert, but I agree with Alf.” Curtis interrupted. “Do you understand, how much I’ve sacrificed for this country!?” Herbert yelled, garnering no reaction, except a “Your career’s dead, Herbert.” from Landon. “Dead, is it?” Herbert mumbled, before storming out of the room, ending the meeting.

The French People wish nothing more than to help the peoples of the world aching to be free from Capitalism and Imperialism, The French Commune will attempt to smuggle arms to Ottoman Rebels

Many of our comrades are Russian, The French state will attempt to locate Bukharin and spirit him to France for his safety with the rest of his countrymen.

The people of France should know that this “Black Tuesday” is just another Capitalist crisis that will keep happening while Capitalism breaths. The people will be educated in a Propaganda campaign about why Socialism is the superior form of Government.

The Capitalists may start to get desperate soon, the Commune will build up its defenses on the German and Belgian borders (with messages sent to both Governments that these are not meant as an act of aggression).

The commune will offer loans to the Nation of Brazil at this time to help them overcome the Economic Crisis, along with a Mutually Beneficial trade deal.
