Hello and welcome to another playthrough of A More Perfect Union!

This game begins in 1772 with @Rezi and I as the only players. I have taken the Red Right Wing Populist faction while he has taken the Bloo Left Wing Populist faction. The rest of the factions are not open for human players and will instead be automated via CPU by the two of us. A huge thanks to @MrPotatoTed for setting up a 1772 base sheet for us to use with a few minor modifications. We have just finished resetting the names, undoing the draft from the template, and are getting ready to get started.

I imagine that Rezi has plans for Daniel Hiester to lead the country again as well.

No Daniel Hiester.

Don't forget, there's now only a % chance (I think 20%?) that ideology shifts are successful.  (And still carry potential penalties even if they fail.)

Rezi and I are rolling for each other so those rolls have yet to happen. Gotta prevent any accusations of bias 😛

Party of me is hoping that this devolves into turn after turn of both of you declaring "The totally random rolls say all fail, all gain flip-flopper!" 😛

For those wondering: yes, Benedict Arnold will be my faction leader at some point.

The reason I chose Samuel Huntington as my first draft pick is because he’s a Kingmaker from Connecticut… also where Arnold is from.

When Arnold is protege’d by Huntington, he’ll gain 1 random skill between Legislative, Governing, and Judicial. So, the opening move will be either he runs for Continental Congress or Connecticut Governor, or if it’s just judicial he’ll have his usual rise through the military.

Arnold will also gain Labor expertise, but no traits.

It’s a nice boost to the typical Benedict Arnold start 😛

@Rezi don’t forget you can try to put non eligible pols into career tracks and we can roll for their entrance (50% chance IIRC, so you can try to stick Daniel Hiester somewhere if you want)

I know. I just dont wanna 😛

Probably not in the rules, and I respect the game, but I really think one should only be able to activate Kingmaker-protege pairings once per 2 year period. Or the CPU should be doing the same thing as you. Right?

The issue is that once a Kingmaker has a protege, they can’t make a new chain because they are an “active” Kingmaker, so the only way to actually utilize it seems to be to activate all protégés at once.

I brought the same concern to V in the 1772 game when I wanted to activate more protégés for a Kingmaker who has gained leadership, and thus more Protege spots, but his opinion then was that when a Kingmaker is active that they can’t activate new protégés. He might be open to changing it nowadays, however.

But the issue with Franklin is that he didn’t have Kingmaker + Leadership that I saw.

Read my mind. If that's the case, is there a rule or dice roll that gauges whether the cpu Kingmaker does activate multiple protégés when they do have leadership?

I’d assume they activate the maximum they can at once, as there’s not any downside to doing so and not doing so just gives up free trait gains, skill gains, expertise gains, interest gains, and election bonuses + potential additional points.
