I can't actually do anything in game?

Hi,

 

I love the idea of the game but I can't figure out how to actually do anything after picking career paths.

That is a screenshot of my current game. The only thing I can actually click on is "done phase" and even then the only thing that changes is the "faction realignment" text and occasionally the highlighted symbol on the left. I don't get any pop ups until the next year for more career progress. Is this correct? Am I missing something obvious here?

The game isn't playable yet. Anthony sent it just to show what has been done so far. Aside from drafting and picking career paths, the game isn't ready. This wasn't an early release. It's just a playable progress report.
