The octogenarian President Ben Franklin, already gout stricken, declines to seek a second term, leaving the door to succession wide open, and potentially instilling in America a one term precedent that will be hard to break if the following presidents also hold true to Franklin's precedent.

he was, but I decided that since the US veered into an extremely Progressive direction in this alternate history, it would make some kind of sense, and be pretty cool if Paine stayed in America to help further his ideas. I admit, I'm kind of biased since Tom Paine is one of my favorite figures in Early American History, so that may have influenced my decision to have him become a politician rather than go to France to join in the French Revolution.

I mention him here due to the fact he's currently winning the poll by a large margin over a person like Paine, who I assume would be more in line with most forum users actual ideologies than Hamilton, but due to the fact that Miranda was able to take his fan-fic all the way to Broadway, and that Paine has been forgotten other than as the author to Common Sense, people think of Hamilton as this cool, nice, Progressive guy, when in reality he was a power hungry, sex addicted, anti-democratic, pro-business, conservative.

Now that I think of it, I take back my comparison of Hamilton to fan fiction, since there is a large amount of fan-fic that is genuinely good, and well written, and those fan fictions don't deserve to be lumped in with what is, quite possibly, the worst popular musical, maybe ever.
