Walton continues to make overtures to the Philadelphia Gazette. He urges the Gazette to consider the consequences of an Anti-American campaign that Gansevoort and the Federalists are running. He says the difference in who our supporters are says it all. Gansevoort mingles with the elite, Walton mingles with the farmer, laborer, and working man of America.

Walton sends a letter to his dearest supporters in Philadelphia. Urging them to get out on the street and attack the bigotry of the American Party and their Federalist sympathizers. Catholics, Irishmen, and the oppressed masses are always welcome in a Walton America. Don't let the Federalists take away your religious freedom, and their agents of chaos.

Walton once again does a meet and greet outside his Georgia Plantation. Giving free food, and free activities for visitor's families to participate while they wait to get a glimpse of Senator Walton himself! In his one on one conversations he talks about his time in the Revolutionary War, and how he fought in Carolina campaign against the British. He talks about his genuine belief that the Federalists are anti-American, and how they favor the likes of Britain over the brave Frenchmen and Spaniards that fought on our side in the Revolutionary War. Event 1 (Boost National Recognition): John Hooker launches a vicious ad campaign in the New England area targeting the nativist crowd. The ads depict caricaturized Irish immigrants brutalizing a young British Woman. The Irish immigrants are depicted with sloping heads and jutting jaws in typical racist stereotype fashion. Near the edge of the ad is a catholic priest rubbing his hands together and smiling devilishly at the act taking place. Underneath the ad is a massive bolded slogan.

”Open your doors for papists, lose your wives to rapists”

Event 2 (Boost National Recognition): John Hooker takes his secret list of jacobin spies to congress, giving out three names to start what will hopefully become a frenzy of francophobia. The names he gives out are of two French nationals and a Democratic Republican state legislator from New Jersey who was staunchly supportive of France.

Event 3 (Boost National Recognition): John Hooker holds a massive nativist rally in Boston, gathering a mob of locals to burn effigies of the pope and hurl slurs at the immigrant population. He also loudly criticizes the “Mainstream Media” for being dishonest and trying to hurt his campaign, bringing up the major establishment newspapers fierce opposition to his candidacy.

Otis supporters appeal to the burgeoning immigrant population in New York City, by attacking Gansevoort as anti-immigrant, and claiming he would trample the 1st amendment, by implementing a religious requirement to become a citizen, thereby outlawing non-protestant immigration.

Otis again writes a letter to the NYDA, mentioning the widespread roomers of Gansevoort's corruption, and reassuring the newspaper that any appoints he makes will be based off of competence, not personal ties, or party loyalty.

Otis supporters will publish story after story about the virtues of Otis in an attempt to get his name into the popular consciousness (Boost National Recognition)

New York City: 4. Some see clarity in the message, but in the end, it gets lost among the electorate.

Roundup

Another week is complete in the race for the White House 1796. A fire has been lit underneath Representative Douglas Rider (L-PA), who seems to have caught on the campaign trail. Across the northeast, the representative is now polling in the high single digits or low double digits, throwing a wrench into the race in those areas. Gov. Otis had the worst week this week (barely), dulling his flame from the week before. After that, Sec. Gansevoort was the next worst, one D-R and one Federalist.

Down the ballot, minor parties the Americans and Liberty party are continuing to take advantage of stasis between the top two parties. What that would look like at the end of campaigning, no one is sure, but it is possible that either party could end up with a score more seats than they have right now. Notably, the independent candidate in Virginia helped stabilize a bit more than what they were facing the week prior, but that race remains rated at Likely Democratic-Republican.

Introduction of New Newspaper

Endorsement of the Alexandria Times (Virginia) is up for grabs!

Calling all candidates! Virginia's largest paper, the Alexandria Times, is available to endorse. The paper leans to the Democratic-Republican side, but also is close to the former Washington administration, creating a tie up towards the top of its favored candidates.

Walton - 33
Carroll - 30
Gansevoort - 26
Otis - 22
Hooker - 18
Blumenau - 12
Rider - 7

Wilson - 4

Walton is the top candidate in Virginia, but Gansevoort's ties with Washington, as well as Carroll's, help them in the state. Otis, by way of being a Democratic-Republican, is also in the mix. Hooker's successful southern campaigning is also creating a bit of strife in the newsroom. Blumenau's recent struggles in Virginia seem to be affecting the way the paper views him as well.

There has been some changing with the other papers.

Philadelphia Gazette

Walton - 41
Blumenau - 38
Gansevoort - 37
Otis - 28
Carroll - 20
Rider - 23
Hooker - 6
Wilson - 3

NY Daily Advertiser

Otis - 48
Gansevoort - 37
Blumenau - 26
Walton - 23
Carroll - 18
Rider - 10
Hooker - 6
Wilson - 6

Otis is extremely close to being endorsed by New York's largest newspaper, in a major coup for the Democratic-Republican. The Gazette is more closely fought, but Walton remains on top there, with Blumenau and Gansevoort on his heels.

There will be a polling update and rating change after next turn! 🙂 Thank you all for your events and time!

Roundup

Turn 3 Style 😏

Two major newspapers endorsed this week as both the New York Daily Advertiser and the Philadelphia Gazette made their choices known: they were backing Democratic-Republicans. The NYDA backed Otis, while the Gazette endorsed Sen. Walton of Georgia. Independent candidate Carroll continues to struggle as he takes another devastating hit in Delaware. It is clearly Walton's campaign to lose. The Liberty Party and the American Party continue to do well down the ballot, but the Democratic-Republican and Federalist war machines are beginning to hum as the campaign gets going.
