The Newest World - Humanity Colonizes the Final Frontier

High Judge Dick Cheney will be very strict (corrupt) in his way of deciding cases. Ones benefitting his interests rather than the interests of true justice... whatever the hell that means. He calls up his friend George Bush V to be a clerk under him. Bush V, like his ancestor is a seemingly decent, humble man. As long as Justice Cheney can convince him what he's doing is right, Bush V will woo the crowd with his emotional ways.

@HestiaSheriff: Sheriff Sky, congratulations! Your primary responsibility is to crush political dissent to the established order, and ensure the supremacy of the Cameriga Corporation within the colony. Other than that you have a rather large amount of liberty in choosing how to enforce the law… as well as the laws you enforce. What wil be your initial approach to law enforcement, Ms. Sheriff?

Sheriff Sky will work closely with Cameriga Corporation, hoping to establish herself as a sort of intermediary between the corporation and the rest of the colony. With more trust by the corporation, the larger amount that Esmee will be able to take into her own hands. She will follow the corporation's guidelines closely, but will turn a blind eye to the actions of her allies and friends where possible to create a better atmosphere for her faction.

@HestiaCommander of the Colony Militia: Ave Commander Jade! Your primary responsibility is to defend the colony, and eliminate any outside threats, whether they be from native populations, or rival corporate colonies. Currently we have no known outside enemies, so what would you have us do? Should we explore the territory, stand guard at the borders of the colony, or do something else?

Commander Jade is glad to have the opportunity! The biggest priority is finding out what's out there. Commander Jade will go with a faction of her squad to explore the territory, while leaving some behind to guard the small colony they have set up now.

@HestiaHead of Technological & Scientific Affairs: Nice work on being unanimously selected the inaugural HoTASA, or if you prefer, the inaugural TASAH. Now you must choose what our best, and brightest minds should focus their research on. There's a lot of things we still don't know, about both this planet, and about our wider universe, but your leadership may help us know a little bit more.

Kieran will focus upon discovering what our flora and fauna is like around us, and what we can eat and what we can't. If we can develop a sustainable resource to live upon, then we will be able to move on from there. Hopefully he can focus on bettering the community and gaining trust that way rather than ruthlessly attacking others 😄 but we shall see.

Director Wilkers will set the colony's first priority to be towards setting up and expanding the farmland in the colony. Having a surplus of food and resources will aid the colonists in completing any future projects, as well as keep up morale within the colony so that they can continue to prosper into the near future.

12: George Bush V accept the position, and will set about furthering your interests in the judicial sphere. There's some grumblings, though most of it is focused on concerns about whether Bush is competent enough to be a judicial clerk, and, for the most part, your corruption fades into the background.

7: The colonists see what your doing, and they don't like it. It isn't terrible, but it could come back to haunt you, and your career down the line.

1(Sorry 😞) Commander Jade is the only survivor of the ill fated expedition, and is heavily wounded when she returns. Once she's better she can file a report on the specifics of her expedition. (OOC: Since this is your character, would you prefer if Jade made the report public, or if she only handed it in to her faction head (you) and the mayor(@Cenzonico?)

19: Finally, a bit of good luck comes your way! The researchers at your disposal are the best, and brightest of humanity, and they are able to accurately, and quickly identify the available edible flora, and fauna in the area. Your keen leadership leads to a bump in support for you, and your faction that should somewhat counter balance the rest of the week.

19: Your able to quickly, and safely complete the development of farmlands for the colony. The farms that you've built are now being planted using some seeds from the ship's cargo hold, as well as with some of the edible fauna that the scientists discovered. Horary for domesticating agriculture! The people celebrate you for your accomplishments, and you see a bump in support.

Godwin Godwinson condemns so called “commander” Jade for her disastrous handling of the expedition, while quietly meeting with his lackeys to prepare a challenge to her leadership.

It’s such a lucky coincidence that godwinson’s main rival was randomly attacked and nearly killed.

She will file a report to the Mayor first, letting him deal with the report how he would want after that. She hopes to recover. 😭

While we wait, have a few side quests. On the house.

@Pringles Justice Cheney, have you heard the new? It is simply scandalous! There's word going around town that Gerald Wesley, one of the richest men in the colony, is secretly a member of the highly reviled Cult of Genesis. People are saying they keep hearing strange noises come from his room at night. We might be able to use this to our advantage, if we gather evidence of Mr. Wesley's occultism, we'll have leverage on him. What should we do, Dick?

@Hestia Mr. Poole, so glad I was able to talk to you. You need to something about Dr. Hugo North. He's simply brilliant, he graduated top of his class from John Hopkins, and is one of the colony's top medical minds. But the thing is, he's a bit... Weird. His experiments have always been, unorthodox, to say the least, but last night Ms. Garcia swears she saw him carrying a dead cat back to his lab! What should we do, Mr. Poole?

@Zenobiyl Being unemployed has its benefits, Godwin... You can use all the extra time to plot for a return to power. But then the question becomes, what shall you plot? There's a lot of way to get power, and money in the young, unstable Osus Colony. You could harass the burgeoning merchant class, or perhaps bribe some scientists to get the latest scoop on technological development in the colony. Lots of options, but only you can make a decision.

@Rezi While being the Director for Employment has its perks, you increasingly find yourself longing for a return to the business world. You have enough liquid capital to finance one new venture, but what will you invest in? The colony still has ample virgin land, and very little industry, so you'll likely be best advised to invest in exploiting the natural resources of the local area.

Justice Cheney ok's the operation to gather evidence on Mr. Wesley. He hopes to find out when Wesley will be out of his room for a long period of time, and send one of his lackeys to do the deed.

Poole will entrust Sheriff Sky to covertly check out the lab, as one of his allies. He tells her to report back with what is actually happening, at which point he can make a determination on what to do from there.

Commander Jade’s disaster has left her without any friends in the army. Godwin will devote his efforts to giving her new “friends” who will fill the ranks of her fallen comrades. These “friends” will also provide intel, and set the stage for his return.

Director Wilkers decides to go searching during his free time for a source of fresh water on this new planet. Back home, the fresh water industry had been destroyed by the time that Joel was born, very little remained and most drinking water was created synthetically by scientists. If Joel could just find a source of fresh water, he could bring back a dead industry, up the spirit of the colonists, and make a buck all in one.

(11) Good news, and bad news. Good news first: Your men were able to map out Wesley's entire schedule, and you now know his daily routine. Bad news: Your men were unable to find a good time to enter his room, and search it.

(9) Sheriff Sky was only able to see a small amount from her watch point, but she swears that she saw Dr. North grab a green vial of an unknown substance, after entering the lab, and that a short while later she could hear screeching, and the sounds of an injured cat. Other than that however, she had little of substance to report.

(17) After a long day of walking, you eventually come across a lake of drinkable water, just as the sun begins to set. You decide to sample the water first, cupping your hand, before bringing it to your mouth. The taste of the cool, fresh water is exquisite, better than all of that synthetic crap they drink back on Earth. As you stare at the clouds tinted pink by the setting sun, you smile, content to know that, at least on Osus, humanity will finally be drinking fresh, clean water again. You head home, and buy the property rights to the lake, and the surrounding area.

Mayor: Mr. McIntyre, congratulations on your unanimous election to Provisional Mayor! However, the office isn’t all parades, and kissing babies, the people of the Osus colony are looking to you for guidance. Specifically, they want you to think of a name for the new colony, because they don’t want to keep calling themselves the Osus Colony forever.

"God this is harder than I thought..."

25 minutes of thinking later

"Fuck! This is harder than it should be!"

"Hmm..., whats a cool name?"

"Marcus? Back home I knew some nerd who was into that Roman god stuff or whatever, too bad I had to kill him."

"Sony? No we'll get sued."

"Eon? Eon... Eon..."

"It's settled! Eon is our new name!"

What will your initial religious policy be? Will it be pluralism, or will you attempt to assert dominance for one religion over another?

Jessica will do what she does best... spread the word of Mormonism! Of course she can't do it forcefully. Right? (Institute Mormonism as the colony religion and do our best to convert everyone)

(14) The new name goes over rather well with the colonists, and many seem ready to adopt the name, and call themselves Eonites. However there is a miniscule amount of colonists who hate the new name.

(4) Many people ignore the institution, and Jessica fails to even convert the majority of her staff to her religions. It isn't impossible, but the quest to convert Eon to Mormonism has a long way to go after such a rocky start.

(@HestiaI'll roll on your mission once everyone else submits their responses to their missions, just to keep things organized)

@Cenzonico It's a tough time to be mayor. Space Mormons, alien attacks on our colony, and to make matters worse, the populace is questioning your competence. At times like this, nothing is better than a good speech. Let the people of Eon see your oratory skill, and put to rest any doubt that you belong in office.

@ZenobiylDamn that bastard Commander Jade! Our efforts to overthrow her so far have resulted in futility. Maybe it is time for a change in strategy? What should your lackeys do to further your influence over the colony?

@PringlesGreat news Justice! Wesley will be attending a party today, meaning your men will have a perfect opportunity to go into his room, and learn the truth about his possible occultist activities. What's the plan judge?

@ReziWork is progressing well on your water pump at the lake you've discovered, but it will still take a number of months for it to get completed, due to the fact that private enterprise buildings are far down on the list of construction priorities. You could outright change this by elevating your pump to a higher priority level, leave it the same, and wait a number of months until its fully built, or use a bit of good old chicanery to quicken the construction of your water. What shall you do, Mr. Director?

Commence the operation. In the meantime, Councilor Brett Bolton and Richard Nixon V will team up in the Council to introduce legislation proclaiming all aliens as "Kill on sight." Whether by civilian or military, there will be no penalty for a civilian shooting an alien lifeform on sight.

Brett Bolton says, "The aliens attacking our colonies must be stopped. Therefore my colleague Richard Nixon and I will sponsor this legislation to proclaim that any alien seen may be killed on site. This bill will also allocate greater funds to our military as we need enhanced capabilities to combat and wipe out these savages. Thank you, and long live our colony."

Director Wilkers will choose to leave his private enterprise near the bottom of the priorities list. Besides, if there is no built up colony, there won't be anyone to sell water to at exorbitant prices
