Rhode island and new mexico are forced to do a recount by state law, Bryan won't challenge N. dakota.

Alright, then we’ll let West Virginia stand and hope for the best.

(What happens if Bryan wins? Would the game end, or would I play as the Progressives? I’m willing to adapt my role play to better fit Bryan, I just want to know what’s going to happen?)

You can play as Bryan or swap country after his inaguration.

Bryan wins by a hair (Rhode island under 0.25% after recounting), Debs wins popular vote similarly narrow margins.

Bryan won >60% of women, giving the progressives a strong foothold in the new demographic.

the Progressives maintain control over senate despite losing seats, meanwhile the Socialists are able to win the house.

Debs will call upon the Socialist movements in France, Russia, and Great Britain to rise up against their capitalist oppressors. The time for world revolution has come! (15 APs towards revolution)

The US will give ‘independence’ to the Philippines. In reality they set up a puppet government as the Socialist Republic of the Philippines, and maintain their military presence on the island, using it as a launching pad to attack French Indo-China. (15 APs towards the invasion)

They also send a telegram to Japan, promising them land in Indo-China, and Australia if they join the war on their side (15 APs towards convincing Japan)

13/45 for the workers revolution, 74/60 for Philippine SR, 57/50 for Japanese entry into the war.

Revolutions across the ex-entente nations fail horribly, the Russians have another pitiful disorganized revolt, the French rapidly put down a series of strikes and total paramilitaries in the Rhineland, last and certainly least the Brits don’t even try to overthrow the king.

Thankfully the isolationist congress eagerly signs off on our exit to the philippines, after a prompt communist coup our “peacekeeping” force is maintained readily enough.

The Japanese certainly don’t trust us after everything we’ve done, however they readily join us in a joint invasion of the imperialist forces, although is rule from Tokyo any different than rule from London or Paris?

War: Less than 40 for major losses, more than 65 for major victory. Rolled a 100!

Ottawa falls days after the election (shame we had recounts and not redos), The USS Langley is ready sooner than expected, demolishing the royal navy from the air, liberations of Jamaica and other European holdings in the caribbean finish well ahead of time, Indochina has fallen to a joint American-Japanese force, isolated pockets of communist left in india force out the Colonialists, and even in australia and new zealand communist forces are on the rise. In spite of the general failure of the Russian and French revolts the capitalists took heavy casualties, leaving the door open for more proper military invasions.

Stats:

The economy grows, albeit fairly slowly, the United states is a the worlds military hegemon, the Debs administration is beloved, congress is starting to cooperate, the environment is healthy, crime is fairly low, but on the rise.

The USAF will work together with the Turkish government to launch a series of strategic bombings operations targeting the Russian Caucuses, the aim of the operation being to cripple the nation's ability to produce oil. (10 APs towards crippling Russian Oil)

With Ottowa secured, America turns her eyes to the Pacific. The Canadian offensive continues, but is put on the back burner to focus on a combined naval/marine invasion of Australia, hopefully with Japanese support. In the lead up to the invasion, the Navy, and Air Force is tasked with attacking key Australian infrastructure to cripple their ability to respond to a naval invasion. The invasion proper will be conducted by landing a large force of Marines first on Tasmania, and then moving on to the mainland through a landing on the southern tip of Victoria. Meanwhile paratroopers are to be dropped into territory controlled by communists resistance forces, and the navy is instructed to strangle Australian commerce to the fullest extent possible. (15 APs towards the Invasion of Australia)

With the war turning in America's favor, Debs sends a peace offer to the entente:

The Entente shall abandon all claims of Empire in Asia, and the New World (Meaning that they must grant all non-European/African colonies independence)

Jay Lovestone, and the American Prisoners shall be returned to America

The Entente shall not attempt to interfere with Socialist movements in America, or Asia for the next 99 years, and shall never attempt to overthrow an already established Socialist government.

The Entente, and the Internationale agree to not place undue restrictions on trade between member nations. (Meaning, for example, the US cannot impose tariffs on British goods, and vice-versa.) (15 APs towards securing a peace)

66/70 for bombing Russia, 28/45 for peace.

The Turks reject your offer to bomb the caucuses, citing the strategic value of capturing the caucuses, however they say that CAS, fighter or recon aircraft are more than welcome.

The Entente continues to reject calls for peace, presumably hoping Bryan will be more favorable.

less than 30 for major loss, more than 55 for major victory, rolled a 73

Australian states fall in rapid succession, as loyalists retreat deeper into the interior Natives and vagabonds terrorize the Brits. The paratroopers proved a massive boon, trapping the capitalist soldiers in between ours, allowing a massive amount to be captured. Our navy also had a major success, destroying a large contingent of the royal navy in Arafura, most of the credit goes the the USS Langley, which demolished slow battleships with little AA guns.

Faithless elector time:

Because of Debs enraging farmers one Minnesotan and three North Dakotan electors vote for Knud Wefald.

And in New England three electors vote for Harding/Coolidge, dening Bryan his victory.

Lastly one Rhode islander votes for Debs due to the Close margin (Bryan got 420 more voters).

The electoral college is now deadlocked, and unless Bryan can keep New England in line it would seem that Coolidge will become acting president.

1. Aggressive Negotiations - With Bryan’s inauguration looking a lot less assured, Debs will play hardball with the Entente, resending the previous peace agreement with one major stipulation altered: The Entente nations are to totally abandon their plans of empire, Africa, America, and Asia shall finally breath free! (15 APs towards the peace deal)

2. Operation Maelstrom - To back up his aggressive words, Debs will pursue aggressive actions. The Americans shall cooperate with the Turks to plan an invasion of the Russian Empire, sweeping through the border states to capture the oil rich caucus region. Return of the caucuses will be one of the key pieces of current and future peace negotiations. (15 AP towards invading Russia)

3. Despite their animosity during the campaign, Debs recognizes that Bryan is the people’s choice, fair, and square, and that the election going to the house would be a disaster for both the war, and the country. He secretly contacts Bryan to formulate plan to circumvent the faithless electors, and ensure a peaceful transition of power. As soon as peace with the entente is ratified, Bryan will be appointed Secretary of State, and both Debs, and Stedman will resign, allowing Bryan to become President early, and hopefully ensuring that the house comes to the correct conclusion. (10 APs towards ensuring a peaceful transition)

56/60 for Entente negotiations, 84/40 for Bryan negotiations.

The Entente reject peace, still hoping for a Bryan Presidency. However they are willing to negotiate, a key step towards peace.

Bryan agrees to the offer, delivering the needed house votes to prevent a crisis. However the senate doesn’t do the same. Thankfully if the status quo is maintained in the senate then Bryan will still become president, however still leaving a potential crisis should anything happen to the new Secretary of State.

less than 25 for major loss, more than 50 for major victory rolled a 68.

With our rapid gains in the Caucasus the old Russian government has collapsed. The strategically important oil supply of the Caucasus and much of the populated west are rapidly liberated by our hand. The Tsar has reportedly fled to Mongolia, witch (under the control of Roman von Ungern-Sternberg) has taken control of central Siberia. The afghans have taken central Asia and our ally Japan continues gains into the far east. Upon receiving the news the French began negotiations with the Germans, presumably fearing they will be next. We can now safely say that victory against the Entente is a matter of not if, but when.

Quarterly economic roll: 60.

As victories in the war ramp up the American workers celebrate the liberation of their foreign comrades, causing a rise in consumer spending.

Stats:

Steady growth: 2 Action points every 2 months, 10/10! military, 9/10 administration popularity, 4/10 congress relations, 8/10 environment,  9/10 stability

We will send a peace offering with the following provisions (15 APs towards the peace deal):

The peoples of Africa, Asia, and America currently under the yoke of European Imperialism, as well as the peoples of Russian empire residing in the territory currently controlled by American forces, shall be freed and guided towards the path of Democracy and Socialism under American tutelage.

Jay Lovestone and the American Prisoners shall be returned to America at once.

France, Mongolia, and Britain shall reduce their navies to 25% their current size, and their armies to 50% their current size. In addition to this the Entente Powers shall pay reparations equal to 150% of the internationale’s total war debt.

Negotiate with Germany to allow us to use them as a launching pad to invade France. If they agree we’ll promise the return of Alsace-Lorraine in the event of an American victory. Our tanks shall go through the Ardennes forests, and outflank the French Maginot line, before turning to attack Paris. Meanwhile our Air-force will bomb their strategic infrastructure, and provide CAS to our ground troops, while dropping squads of Paratroopers behind enemy lines. (15 APs towards invading France.)

Concurrent with our invasion of France will be our attempts to break the resolve of the famously stoic Britons. We will launch a strategic bombing campaign against British military, industrial, and civilian targets from Germany, while our Navy cuts off all foreign trade coming into Great Britain. (15 APs towards breaking British resolve)

10-40 for Lightning war, rolled an 82.

The “Blitzkrieg” as the Germans call it was a massive success. The Belgian’s actions in the Congo provided a perfect justification for the invasion. Neither the Belgians nor the French expected the Schlieffen plan to return, leaving the Belgians to capitulate in days. As Belgians fled the French were provided with a logistical nightmare. Believing the Ardennes  to be “naturally impenetrable” the entente made no attempt to stop us. Our paratroopers took Paris on the 21st, with little restense. French and British soldiers were trapped in Alsace-Lorraine, Dunkirk and Eu, leaving mutch of the British army to surrender.

30-50 for British bombing and blockade, rolled a 45.

What remains of the British economy is obliterated, however guerrilla partisans are prepared for an invasion and the bombing of civilian targets deals a significant blow to trust in the government.

58/50 for negotiations.

The remaining Entente nations reluctantly sign the treaty, However the Russian warlords are too disorganized to leave any formal relations as a possibility, let alone war reparations and military downsizing.

Stats:

The economy is healthy, the United States is the world's military hegemon, the people are beginning to doubt the Debs administration, congress is waiting for Debs to resign, the environment is healthy, the people are ready for change.

Action to Debs on whether he will resign.

"At last, peace, long may it reign. And with it, Vice-President Steadman, and I shall take out leave. Congratulations, Secretary - Or I suppose I should say, President - Bryan, looks like fourth time's the charm!"

And with that, the Presidency of America's first (only? we'll see...) Socialist President, has come to an end...

I'll make a final decision when I see the map, but right now I'm leaning towards staying as the USA, or possibly moving over to play as Germany, or Russia instead. What are France's stats?

I'll try my hand as Germany, if I can write the new government's constitution. If I can't then I'll stick with America.
