Unfair warning: I can't Write very well,

How this works: you get Action points based on economy, every month you can spend Action points to do anything, and must role higher than the difficulty of whatever you are doing, you may put more action points to a thing to make it easier, after this "random" events happen to handle NPCs. if you don't have your actions in within 24 hours the next time I check it you will skip that turn.

Lore: T.R. wins 1912 (and debs does better), establishes USA hegemony over N. America, enter ww1 early 1916, italy joins central powers. Debs wins 1916, china is more stable, the entente still wins ww1, Tsar Nicholas survives and White russia wins the civil war. Debs passes very little legislation but sends government funds to unions, many cities nationalize/collectivize industry, Turkey becomes communist, india collapses and now America is in a recession.

Turn 1 begians!

You can generally do anything with your actions points, as long as it is something your country could try go for it. However it is going to be very hard and riskey to do something ahead of time technologically or extremally unpopular(ie: moon landing or an alliance with a geopolitical rival), but a 100/100 roll will guarantee victory.

stats are given vagaly at the end of each turn and specifically every quarter(3 days).

If anyone would like to join please let me know, you can take any country(except the USSA) and I will post recommended countries yearly(12 days)

(If something I wrote breaks with your lore, @Imperator Taco Cat, just tell me so I can correct it)

Part One: The Revolution Brewing in Germany (5 Action Points towards supporting the Spartacus League in preparation for the coming Revolution, and 3 APs towards passing an act supporting the formation, training, and supply of militias made up of citizens who volunteer to fight for the Spartacus League.)

(Secy of State Jay Lovestone, and Vice President Seymour Stedman are engaged in a heated debate as President Debs enters the conference room)

Lovestone: To hell with the Ultra-Rightists in Berlin, the time for reformism has passed!

Stedman: So what do you propose instead? A revolution? How did that work out for the Russians?

Lovestone: The situation in Germany is completely different, the Russian Empire is still basically a feudal economy, of course a Socialist revolution there of all places would have failed. Germany, however, is a fully industrialized state which is ready to make the transition from Capitalism, to Socialism

Debs (Entering the room): I see the two of you are already deep in discussion.

Stedman (Raising out of his seat, and leaning over the table): Secretary Lovestone seems to be suffering from a bout of insanity - despite the failures of Lenin, and the Bolsheviks in Russia, he insists that we give aid to a violent revolution in Germany.

Lovestone (Mimicking Stedman's maneuver so the two of them are face to face): And Vice President Stedman seems to be under the impression that 'Revolution Through The Ballot Box' is possible under an authoritarian monarch.

Debs (Raising his palms in a 'calm down' gesture): Gentlemen, gentlemen, please. We're all civilized men here, no need to get into a shouting match.

Lovestone, and Stedman both sit down in a huff

Debs (Taking a seat): Now, will one of you explain what this argument is all about?

Lovestone (Sitting up, and fixing his tie): Vice President Stedman, and I arrived early for our scheduled meeting to discuss the administration's foreign policy-

Stedman (Interrupting Lovestone): And we quickly got onto topic of the current situation in Germany, which is quickly devolving into lawlessness, and anarchy-

Lovestone (Interrupting Stedman): I think you mean, quickly developing into a prime opportunity for revolution.

Debs (As Stedman attempts to reply): So it seems to me that the primary foreign question of this year facing my administration is the question of how to best take advantage of the German crisis.

Stedman: That's correct sir.

Debs: So, what do the two of you propose, and no interrupting this time. Lovestone you go first.

Lovestone: The current German crisis provides a perfect opportunity for our administration to export the revolution, and deliver you a massive foreign policy win before the election. The Spartacus League led by Karl Liebknecht, and Rosa Luxemburg has contacted us asking that we provide them help in the coming fight against the authoritarian, and reactionary rule of Kaiser William II. I am proposing that we take full advantage of this opportunity by providing these brave revolutionaries with military equipment, ammunition, humanitarian aid, naval bombardments on coastal targets, official support for volunteer forces, and a small expeditionary force of United States Marines.

Stedman: Do you hear what he is proposing!? Boots on the ground, and ships in Germany's backyard? And such a lust for revolution after the failure of Lenin!

Lovestone: Only through aggressive action can we ensure that these revolutionaries do not suffer the same fate as the Bolsheviks.

Debs: Stedman, what do you propose we do?

Stedman: What do I propose? I propose we do nothing! The business of Germany is no business of America, and many of our core supporters would agree. Violent revolution stands totally contrary to our beliefs in a peaceful transition from Capitalism, to Socialism through the ballot box.

Debs: That may be true, but Germany is nowhere near as Democratic as the US is, can we really expect the Kaiser, and his Burgher allies to acquiesce to Socialist rule when even our bourgeoise has resisted us tooth and nail?

Lovestone (Smiling): I'm glade that we agree, Comrade President!

Debs: Not so fast, Comrade Lovestone, Stedman is right that such a thorough support of the revolutionaries could prove to be costly both at home, and abroad. There exists very little appetite for American boys fighting in Europe so soon after the end of the Great War, and the direct use of our navy would be sure to garner the ire of France, and Britain. I'll support lending our military stockpile to the revolutionaries, and will call on congress to pass a bill funding the supply, and training of voluntary brigades of sympathetic Americans who wish to fight for the Spartacus Uprising themselves, but I will not directly send American troops into Berlin.

Part Two: Matter of the Economy (5 APs towards passing the SEGLWC Act)

Representative Meyer London (S-NY) Proposes the following legislation:

An Act To Stimulate Economic Growth, and Liberate The Working Class:
(Provisions of the Bill include)
A Nationwide Ban on Child Labor
Establishes a 40 hour workweek
Establishes a federal minimum wage of $0.75
Establishes a federal worker's disability insurance, and unemployment insurance
Establishes the Federal Works Agency, and the National Park Service both within the Department of the Interior

And we will keep the rest of our Action Points in the Bank for now.

National Parks Service already exist, I will assume this bill expands it. The Spartacus league still collapses, I will also assume that you will send the guns to organizations that participated in the Ruhr rising historically, if either of these are untrue let me know.

I need to sleep so I will post results within 19 hours.

85 of a needed 30 to support the FAUD, 35 of 90 to get congressional approval. 78 of a needed 40 for SEGLWC Act effectiveness.

UPDATE ON REVOLUTION IN GERMANY

With the transfer of over 500,000 M1917 Enfield and M1903 Springfield Rifles to the FAUD we estimate they could Liberate all of Germany in less than three months assuming minimal interference from the french. Currently the revolution is planned for march.

SEGLWC passes in the house 362-73, unemployment is already down by 1% whilst the expanded national parks continue to help the envirement. Support for German revolutionaries passes the house 276-159 defeated 64-32 in senate, with many senators in the west defecting after protests from their constituents. Losses in the west from interventionism cancel out most of the trust gained from improving the economy, however support in industrial states is solidified by the SEGLWC Act.

Foreign rolls:

74 for Turkey, 18 for India.

In South caucasia reports indicate that the front has largely stabilized, with small gains for the revolutionaries. In India the British Royal navy has blockaded central India, cutting off russian supplies and soldiers, it would seem the Raj will remain the British crown jewel.

The economy is calming, the military is strong, the administration is divisive, congress is workable, the environment is amazing.

President Eugene Debs will assign the United States Army Corps of Engineers to make major American waterways more navigable for both defense, and commerce. The Mississippi, Ohio, and the American portion of the Columbian River are given priority for these improvements. (5 APs toward this project)

Debs will send Secretary of State Jay Lovestone to Paris, and sends an offer to the French government promising that if France does not interfere in German affairs then America will not encourage national liberation movements in France's colonies. (5 APs towards convincing the French)

Finally, in an attempt to increase the administration's popularity, Debs will tour the Pacific Coast, and Great Plains, speaking about how the revolution cannot forget the noble farmers, hardy miners, beleaguered longshoremen, and struggling craftsmen which makes up America's rural workforce. He also uses the tour to fine tune his message for his upcoming re-election campaign. (3 APs towards the tour)

87/20 for waterways, 6/35 for france, 90/60 for west

The River and Harbor Act of 1920 has passed congress with flying colors. USACE and the Federal Works Agency have done their work beautifully, unemployment continues to plummet. New Orleans, as the mouth of the Mississippi river has experienced an economic boom. All throughout America trade and the shipping industry are on the rise.

This economic boom has made president Debs a hero to millions, as evidenced by the massive success of his recent speaking tour in the west. It would seem the 1920 election has been decided before it even started.

Des Moines Register Thursday january 29th:

“Armed Uprising Threatened.

Washington, Jan. 26.-Trouble in the Ruhr section was forecast today by the French embassy with announced that it had “reliable information” indicating an anti-French movement calculated to culminate in “an armed uprising”

In a statement the embassy declared that our  government was “known to be backing the enterprise.” It was said that weapons were going to the Ruhr to assist in the “uprising” and that the French were prepared to adopt rigorous measures as a result.”

Foreign rolls:

3 russian indian intervention, 98 turkey, 61 peace, 28 ussr leadership

In other news a russian invasion of afghanistan to reach india has started off with a major defeat, as the russian military crumbles many are predicting that another russian revolution is around the corner.  Especially after the Turks made massive gains in the Caucasus, signing a peace treaty with the South Caucasian state and re-establishing the USSR under the leadership of Joseph Jughashvili.

The economy is booming, the military is strong, the administration is divisive, congress is workable, the environment is amazing.

I do not believe I can do one turn a day anymore, I will subsequently change to a 1 in 2 days commitment on weekdays. the 1 turn a day will stay for weekends.

Turn 3: with 20 Action points per turn and 13 in the bank you have 33 Action points for this turn, a general economy roll will occur at the end of this turn and exact numbers for stats will be given.

Debs will speak in New York City, seeing the first (official) shipment of armaments to the FAUD revolutionaries off as it begin its voyage to Europe. His speech will hinge on an opposition to imperialism, and authoritarianism across the globe, while also not advocating for direct American involvement in world affairs. (3 APs towards the speech)

Next on the President's itinerary is a meeting between himself, AFL President Samuel Gompers, and IWW General Secretary Bill Haywood. Labor is the backbone of the Socialist Party, but for too long it has been divided between supporters of Craft Unionism, and Industrial Unionism. Debs's meeting is all about healing the divide, and uniting the labor movement in anticipation for the upcoming 1920 election. (5 APs towards uniting the Labor movement)

Socialist Party members of the Senate will organize to pass an old age insurance program paid for through a payroll tax (Social Security) (5 APs towards passing Social Security)

Finally, The Socialist Party will target ethnic voters by printing campaign literature in Finnish, Russian, Yiddish, German, French, Hungarian, Italian, Lithuanian, and Polish, in addition to English. (2 APs towards courting ethnic voters)

14/60 for FAUD speech, 81/45 for uniting the coalition, 22/20 for social security, 78/40 for foreign language .

Debs’s official aid to the FAUD has backfired horribly, it would seem that the reason many Americans stood by the president when the French accused him wasn't because they approved but because they didn't believe it. Not only this but pro-democracy advocates are enraged by the president ignoring congress. To add insult to injury a storm hits the convoy and sinks 3 ships.

Fortunately for the president his efforts to unite the unions has gone much better, as the IWW and AFL fight less and cooperate more it would seem that the United States has avoided the pitfalls of the Soviets. However, some fear that this unity has been created more around than by Debs.

The Social Security program (retirement age is presumed to be 62, if you want it different let me know) has passed congress with little fanfare, although many elderly are exiting poverty the increased taxes cancel out the consumer spending increase. And some criticize the program as short sighted as life expectancy skyrockets.

The Socialist appeal to minorities goes fairly well, immigrant communities are Increasingly leftwords and xenophobes weren't going to vote socialist anyways.

36 for quarterly economic progress, 75 for German revolution, 99 for Kapp putsch.

Inspitte of the rapid growth in shipping, it would seem the boom is beginning to falter. Small businesses are hit the hardest, with new regulations and competition from the Federal Works Agency.

Beatrice Daily Express Mar 12 1920:

“GERMAN WOMEN SHOT IN NEW RUHR UPRISING

Cologne, German, March 12. –More disorders were reported in the Ruhr valley today. French troops shot a German woman near Haltern am See according to an advice received here this morning.

Acts of sabotage on the Railway lines and telephone lines occurred at Liblan, Dinisber and Mulheim.

The German government has signaled willingness to negotiate with the strikers.”

In response to the government's “softness” towards the strikers the Freikorps have marched upon Berlin to put the “Nationale Vereinigung” into power. The Kaiser has officially endorsed this action whilst the army refused to fire upon their fellow Germans. The new government has declared that it will “not interfere with the French occupation zones” and has ordered the mass arrest of KDP members. Many officials of the former government have fled to Weimar; they are expected to set up a rival government shortly.

Stats:

Medium growth: 1 Action point every 2 months, 6/10 military, 5/10 administration popularity, 4/10 congress relations, 9/10 environment.

Rep. Victor L. Berger will propose the Small Business Act (SBA). The act establishes the Small Business Administration as an independent agency with a mission to maintain and strengthen the nation's economy by enabling the establishment and viability of small businesses and by assisting in the economic recovery of communities after disasters. To do this the administration banks, credit unions, and other lenders to provide subsidized loans to entrepreneurs, and struggling small businesses who meet certain criteria, and unsubsidized loans to small businesses who don't meet that criteria, and will also offer prospective entrepreneurs Small Business Development Workshops at partnering universities, and community centers. The SBA will have at least one office in each state, which shall oversee the local fulfilment of the SBA mission statement. The national administration of the SBA will be appointed by, and serve at the discretion of the President. The act also cuts taxes for small businesses, and encourages the states to exempt small businesses from sales tax. (5 APs towards passing the SBA, 3 APs towards encouraging states to pass their own exemptions).

Eugene Debs gives a formal radio address to the American people condemning French brutality in Germany, and the reactionary coup which has currently stormed Berlin. He encourages the public to support the Socialists in the Ruhr Valley, and the Liberals in Weimar through voluntary means. He announces plans to recall the American ambassador in Berlin, and set up dual consulates in Weimar, and Bochum. (2 APs towards the speech, 3 APs towards setting up formal diplomatic relations with the Liberals, and Socialists)

Secretary of State Jay Lovestone is sent to Germany to orchestrate a meeting between the leaders of the Ruhr Uprising, and the Weimar Government. The goal of the meeting is to put in place a broad-left alliance between Syndicalists, Communists, Socialists, Social Democrats, and Left-Liberals against the Reactionary Krupp Putsch. Lovestone threatens that official US recognition depends upon a melding of anti-Reactionary forces, and that the US may cut off supplies to any side if they do not agree to put aside their differences for the time being. He also promises that the US will ramp up material support to anti-Reactionary forces if the alliance is agree to, and will also exert diplomatic pressure on European nations to recognize the broad-left alliance as the true Germany. (7 APs towards forming the broad-left German alliance)

President Debs will work with SecWar Smedley Butler, and SecNav Franklin D. Roosevelt to implement a series of structural reforms to ready the United States military for a new era of mechanized warfare, and also allow America a way to exert power more forceful than economic diplomacy, and not as forceful as a full invasion. The reforms are as follows:

  • Separates the United States Army Air Corps into the Department of the Air Force, while also providing the Navy, Army, and Marine Corps with their own dedicated air services. The Department of the Air Force, the Department of War (renamed Department of the Army), and the Department of the Navy will be made subordinate to the Department of Defense, created to ensure better cooperation between all branches of the US Armed Services.
  • Creates the Central Intelligence Agency, who's purpose is to engage in covert operations abroad, collect, analyze, evaluate, and disseminate foreign intelligence, and act as a clearing house for all intelligence, and analysis relevant to United States foreign policy
  • Forms the 10th Army Group which shall specialize in unconventional warfare, so that they can be used to both train friendly guerilla forces, and effectively counter hostile guerilla forces.
  • Establishes the United States Naval Doctrine as one that places the air craft carrier as the cornerstone of the modern fleet, and emphasizes the ability for the navy, and marine corps to rapidly respond to developing situations, and project American influence across the Americas.
  • Establishes the United States Army Doctrine as one based around rapid mobile assaults by tanks, and mechanized infantry supported by strong close-air support.
  • Establishes the United States Air Force Doctrine as one around long-range strategic bombing campaigns designed to cripple an enemy country's ability to materially support the war machine, as well as break the civilian population's spirit.

(5 APs towards implementing these reforms)

52/30 for SBA, 55/40 for state tax exemptions, 31/60 for speech, 80/20 for diplomacy, 99/25 for coalition, 91/40 for military expansion

The SBA passes nearly unanimously, and proves a modest success. When combined with some states (mostly in the north) extending tax exemptions this leads to thriving small businesses.

Unfortunately Deb’s speech supporting German revolutionaries goes poorly, isolationist Americans just can't seem to understand why this is their problem. There was a particularly embarrassing moment when a heckler asked where the president's interventionist spirit was in the Great war.

Getting the Weimar and Ruhr to establish consulates was easy enough, both are on the back step and desperate for aid.

Lovestone’s “Einheitsfront”(united front) as it is called is a massive success, with the entire left and even some centrist joining. A surprising figure: Prince Joachim of Prussia has come ahead in the new government, and he has proven himself an excellent diplomat, assuaging concerns about if the new government would continue to follow the versailles treaty. However, many socialists criticize him as a soulless opportunist only helping them out of fear of being on the losing side.

The army reforms go better than anyone expected, the first aircraft carrier, the USS Langley is expected to be finished soon, the expanded air force has maintained American dominance over the skies, the new D.O.D. has, at least for now, halted the interservice rivalry, the new push around guerilla and lightning warfare has established America as the world's strongest military power.

Stats:

The economy is booming, the military is very strong, the administration is divisive, congress is workable, the environment is amazing and the united front is winning the german civil war.

1. Debs sets to work bettering relations with congress by inviting left-wing members of the Progressive Party to the White House for a lavish gathering where the President will attempt to convince them to jump ship to the Socialist Party (5 APs towards gathering congressional converts)

2. In a bid to support the United Front, and flex American military power, the President will send 100 Airmen to Germany, along with planes enough to get them in the air. (5 APs towards establishing air supremacy over Germany)

3. Seymour Stedman is put to work appealing to the ever elusive voter block of middle-class, well educated professionals. He is sent to tour New England, and the Mid-Atlantic, speaking about the Socialist Party's commitment to social progress in the fields of women's rights, racial rights, civil liberties, a repeal of prohibition, and greater religious tolerance. (5 APs towards appealing to middle-class voters)

4. Eugene Debs meets his public by touring the Steel Belt, and meeting with as many industrial workers between Minnesota, and Pennsylvania as possible. His stump speech will focus on his administration's domestic successes, and his plans for greater economic reform in favor of the working class. (5 APs towards speaking to industrial workers)

5. In continuing with his military reforms, Eugene Debs signs an executive order allowing women to join the armed services, and serve in any role not tasked with direct combat. The same day he signs an executive order forming a series of law enforcement agencies tasked with investigating criminal activity involving their select branches. These branches are the Naval Investigative Service (for the Navy and Marine Corps), the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (Air Force), US Army Criminal Investigation Division (Army), and the Coast Guard Investigative Service (Coast Guard), respectively. (3 AP towards the women in auxiliary units, and 2 AP to the new law enforcement agency, for a total of 5 APs)

56/45 for meeting, 81/15 for german intervention, 13/65 for campaigning 1, 98/45 for campaigning 2, 88/30 for women, 92/60 for law

The meeting goes fairly smoothly, although very few congressmen join the socialist they accept greater cooperation and offer an endorsement for 1920 if the business wing takes control of the progressives.

The german intervention goes excellently, the new air force has decimated Berlin, the Kapp–Lüttwitz government has collapsed in on itself, as the United Front comes close to finishing off the reactionary menace, the Kaiser has fled for the netherlands and overall the war might as well be over.

Seymour’s tour didn't go as planned, many voters don't like the idea of presidential campaigns starting this early, especially considering nobody has challenged the Debs administration from the Socialist party. In spite of this the trip itself goes fairly well. However Seymour made one big mistake, he vocally opposed prohibition, a movement so popular it could get an amendment in spite of a relatively popular president opposing it. Expect Wayne Wheeler to raise hell in congress.

Thankfully the president did a better job, the economy is doing great and workers are eager to see their prospect continue, Debs’s new midwestern wall seems unbreakable already.

The changes to the army go great, women joining the armed forces remove any risk of running out of manpower whilst female WW1 vets are happy to receive recognition. The new investigative branches stifles corruption and increase trust in the army and hague conventions.

STATS:

The economy is roaring, the United States is a military superpower, the administration is popular, congress is being difficult, the environment is amazing.

NEW STAT: crime is low and the people feel safer than ever

Gcw: close to united front victory

Nominations: Socialist party has no challengers, Debs gets president and based off of the previous post Seymour Stedman for vice president, you can change vp if you want.

turn 6(june): 18 Action points saved+33 a turn=51 Action points(I have now decided if you save to many the economy will shrink)

you have 48 hours to do this turn.

Progressive national convention this month: the left and right wing will nominate a faction each month, they each get a number from 0-10, if there is a difference of 3 or more in the numbers the person with a higher number becomes the nominee. Coolidge is destined to be the vice president.
