John B. Anderson won the primary runoff against Reagan, and now advances to the general election on the republican ticket with a reluctant endorsement from Reagan himself. To try and win over conservatives Anderson also picked George H. W. Bush as his running mate, a preferred choice of Reagan’s. However, the more right wing republicans have still organized a third party bid under Jesse Helms to oppose Anderson. Helms has chosen James L. Buckley as his running mate. Will this third party save Carter? Will Anderson prevail? Will Helms beat them both? Let’s find out! (No runoff this time).
