I mean, we kind of do.  Debates, interviews...that’s what these things are for.

The problem is the judges are the voters.  And if the voters don’t know the right answer, or don’t care, then it doesn’t matter.

I think something more scientific and conducted by experts could at least connect to 1% of the population that can construe stupidity or ignorance in a debate. Also, a lot of people don't watch debates or interviews.

I'm not sure I understood the first sentence.  But yes, true that many people don't watch debates or interviews.  I only mean that people care more about "He/she agrees with me!/I could have a beer with them!" than "he/she could probably win a game of Jeopardy."

I have no objection to some kind of intelligence test -- except that most voters won't care.  If the test results somehow showed Trump was smarter than Hillary, would you have voted for Trump?  Or would you trust your own assessment of their intelligence over the test?

Also, CNN will demonize everything Trump does. It will make a fuss over what he eats (like...who cares? Seriously, I don't think Kasich eating a pizza with a fork should ever have been a big deal).

Meanwhile, Fox will idolize everything Trump does. Every corrupt action he takes will be whitewashed, every thing he does will probably be praised/overblown, & everything will be blamed on the Democrats, etc.

I don't actually watch TV, bust most people do, and when they watch the news, this is what they will be influenced by.

How would you feel about a literacy test to vote then?

Divide and conquer. The elites get what they want in the end regardless of the president.

Just curious, what were your qualifications for this point (since many don't have that many accomplishments to note so far). Charles Booker is one that really stands out (especially because of his KY connection) @vcczar

They won office or came close to winning office. Booker was added just because he was highlighted during the election he was in as a “high profile” Sanders Democrat.

Perhaps in the future, you could add Louise Mensch for fun.

I actually don't know who that is.

I googled her.  She's British.  She was a chick lit novelist who somehow became a conservative British politician who somehow ended up in New York who somehow is now a pro-Trump conspiracy theorist.

Another politician with a more prominent future I would recommend adding is Daniel Cameron (current Kentucky AG). He's a black Republican (which keeps him on people's radar) and was on Trump's SCOTUS list once he was elected in 2019. And many see him as McConnell's successor in the Senate. He also spoke at the 2020 RNC.

At some point I'll have a thread for suggestions for additional politicians. Keep him in mind for when I do that. Probably won't be until closer to midterms.

Correction:  Apparently she is an ANTI-Trump conspiracy theorist.

Yeah, and she endorsed Ted Cruz and then Evan McMullin. She's also friends with Jacob Rees-Mogg.

Such people do also exist? Interesting.

Some far-left, usually socialists or Left wing anarchists, are also Conspiracy theorists. People that have more populist and/or fringe politician views are more often conspiracy theorists. I can’t think of a single conspiracy theorist I know that isn’t someone that likes Bernie Sanders and/or Ron Paul more than they like Obama or Rubio.

The funny thing is that she is a Conservative anti-Trump conspiracy theorist.

I know UK's Conservatives are more like the Democrats of America, but this is  someone who endorsed Republicans.
