New York City 2021 Mayoral Election Roleplay

The Blood

Recommended Posts

Event 1: Stringer will seek the endorsement from the Sunrise Movement, claiming that his time as Comptroller shows his willingness to move New York City forward into the new age of taking action, and tells them that he'll move the city on a path towards being run 100% on renewable energy by the end of 2035 and take on the powerful lobbyists who want to prevent big cities from moving forward away from Fossil Fuels.

Event 2: Stringer calls all progressives across the city to come join him in Brooklyn for the largest demonstration ever, marching through the streets demanding that Government at all levels do their work to improve the lives of the American people, and reject Corporate influence, specifically calling out President Biden and Governor Cuomo for bending the knee to the rich and powerful.

Event 3: Stringer launches an ad all across the city which presents him as a man of the people ready to fight for their needs!

1. Mateo announces he will run for the Conservative Party nomination, as well as the Republican Party nomination!

”Let’s face the facts: I am pro gun, pro life, and pro police. The Democrats call that racism and extremism, but I simply call it common sense. We need law and order, and that is why I am running for the Conservative Party. We can’t just expect to beat the Democrats unless we make a big tent, and that tent must include conservatives in New York City. Thank you.”

2. Mateo announces his plan to reopen schools from the COVID shutdown.

”Look, we all need to stay safe from this pandemic, ok? But that doesn’t mean we need to stay locked away inside all the time, and it especially doesn’t mean we need to take kids out of the schools and put them in front of screens all day. It’s unnatural, and it’s unhealthy. Test scores and attendance have fallen already, its just a big mistake. Every day we continue to keep kids out of the schools they fall further and further behind. My plan will bring the schools back, with masks and safety measures in place, so students can have a safe and fulfilling school year after this summer. Can the democrats make the same promise?”

3. Mateo challenges Maya Wiley, Scott Stringer, and these other radical far leftists to a town hall debate in Times Square. Mateo promises to prove how silly their ideology is, and get people in New York City talking about bringing back law and order instead of defund the police and BLM.

2.Yang campaign releases series of "Not Left,Not Right,Forward!" ads explaining Yangs plans and portraying him as a candidate focused on big ideas not ideological divide.

3.Yang dismisses calls to defund police as extremism and says ideas like that are harmful to Democratic party

Maya Wiley will begin building a broad coalition of the ethnic voters that make up the backbone of New York City, and who made the Big Apple into the global supercity that it is today. Wiley will meet with the Muslim Democratic Club of New York and seek their endorsement, promising the bring Muslim voices into New York City governance.

Wiley will additionally seek the endorsement of Alianza Islamica, the New York association of Latino Muslims based out in the Bronx.

Finally, Wiley will meet with Representative Hakeem Jeffries to sit down and talk about what she would need to do to win over his endorsement as well.

Ping for events.

McGuire will try to smooth things over with the Police officers by stressing his law and order platform and the issues on which he's stronger than Adams.

McGuire will move to compound support from the Chamber of Commerce by seeking that of businessman, former Mayor, and Democratic Presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg. He will appeal to Bloomberg's desire to govern America's largest city from the center and how important it is to unite the center-right to the center-left.

Finally, McGuire will appeal to Congressman Ritchie Torres, an often vocal critic of AOC and De Blasio, that it will take a strong coalition of black voters and pro-growth voters to stop socialism in New York City. Torres should know that only McGuire can be the true fight for opportunity and justice in NYC.

1. Donovan brushes himself off after a rough week as he goes to Brooklyn meeting with union workers and voicing his support for labor unions.

2. Donovan will go on SNL and make fun of his Colbert appearance, he will look to show he has a good sense of humor and is an approachable guy.

3. Finally Donovan will release an ad showing his experience and progressive ideas that will help the average New Yorker.

Brooklyn: 4/10. Donovan is not the labor candidate in this election, and fails to make a serious connection, though nothing serious goes wrong.

SNL: 7/10. Donovan performs much better on camera this time around, giving off a fun and confident demeaner which wasn't seen on Stephen Colbert.

Ad: 10/10! Donovan continues to strengthen his progressive credentials and build an image of experience around himself. A well-produced ad which gathers his campaign attention and support.

Overall: +6. Donovan is able to wash away the failures of last turn with a strong campaign focusing on his experience and progressive policies. However, with his blunders prior to these last two weeks Donovan may only be catching his fall, and time will tell if the strength and energy remains.

1.Eric Adams says that he will supports banning new fossil fuel infrastructure.

2.Eric Adams also proposes expanding the Open Streets Program.

3.Finally, Eric Adams asks Representative Sean Patrick Maloney for his endorsement.

Fossil Fuels: 3/10. The announcement gathers little attention, and fails to build any more support among those left-of-center with his campaign, with some of Adams' more conservative supporters left anxious about the economic implications of the proposal.

Open Streets: 5/10. This proposal, while accepted by most, doesn't gather any serious attention or help the Adams campaign in any substantial manner.

Maloney: 10/10! Maloney endorses with enthusiasm! A major boost to Adams as his campaign looks to be sucking up a large swath of NYC's Congressmembers.

Overall: +3. While Adams doesn't exhibit as strong a campaign as last turn, he continues to gather momentum, with Congressman Maloney's endorsement providing a major source of strength.

1. Kathryn Garcia continues her tour of Manhattan, visiting several districts in the area and stopping to meet and greet with voters.

2. Garcia makes a speech in Brooklyn, where she attacks frontrunners Yang and Adams separately - Yang for inexperience, and Adams for divisiveness.

3. Garcia seeks the endorsement of the New York Times in a sit-down with the publishers.

Manhattan: 4/10. Few people seem to be out and about, and Garcia didn't sleep especially well the night before, making for a slow, dull event.

Brooklyn: 10/10! Garcia proves to be a fearsome attack dog, distinguishing herself from the two main frontrunners while letting two of the main rallying cries behind her campaign, experience and a refusal to politik, shine through.

NYT: 1/10! Garcia seemingly cannot win over the newspapers. Walking into the meeting with coffee spilled on her clothes, Garcia would prove to be a nervous wreck the whole way through, and would not even receive word back from the Times after the meeting.

Overall: -1. Garcia sees high highs and low lows this turn, leaving her campaign with a slightly worse-than-average turn which beings to stall Garcia out after the successes of past.

Sliwa asks the NYPost for their endorsement citing his strong opening week.

Sliwa holds a rally in Brooklyn, appealing to the working class voters living in the borough

Sliwa appeals to youth voters by talking about his plans to reduce the price for college, and end tax exempt statuses for universities.

NYPost: 2/10. The Post seems to shy away, not fully ready to commit to a candidate, and more willing to endorse an electable Democrat over the quixotic Sliwa.

Brooklyn: 9/10. The rally is a strong showing of strength, with high turnout and energy at the event grabbing media attention and strengthening Sliwa's populist campaign.

Youth Voters: 5/10. The youth of NYC are by-and-large behind the more progressive Democratic candidates, and the appeals by Sliwa seem to have no serious effect.

Overall: +1. Although Sliwa remains in the green in terms of momentum, his campaign begins to slow down drastically after his initial wild success.

Event 3: Stringer launches an ad all across the city which presents him as a man of the people ready to fight for their needs!

Sunrise Movement: 7/10. Stringer is able to give a strong appeal to the organization, and is just barely able to win them over, grabbing a valuable progressive ally and source of activists.

Brooklyn: 9/10. Turnout is high and the demonstrators are angry! Stringer grabs media attention and presents himself as a true progressive warrior.

Ad: 9/10. The ad is well-produced and allows Stringer to continue building on his message of progressive politics while leaning into the populist side of things.

Overall: +10! Stringer appears to be taking his campaign and running left with it. However, it seems to be working, as his campaign gathers progressive energy while maintaining many of his white liberal supporters.

Conservative Party: 4/10. The Conservative Party seems antsy about the move, believing that they should be able to support the Republican candidate or nominate their own candidate without such big displays as this, and Mateo alienates some moderates in the Republican Party who were supporting him as an experienced and safe alternative to Sliwa.

Schools Reopening: 3/10. The announcement gathers little attention, and most parents simply aren't willing to back the cause of a supposedly hopeless Republican over this one issue.

Debate: 6/10. While some in the media brush it off as the angry demands of a conservative Republican, it fires up the base, and with some of those challenged accepting, the debate is on.

Overall: -2. Mateo suffers from a mostly negative turn only saved by his fiery demand for a debate.

Queens: 4/10. Paperboy suffers a weak time in Queens.

Manhattan: 4/10. Paperboy suffers another weak time, this time in Manhattan.

Brooklyn: 7/10. Finally, the energy you would expect for the Paperboy campaign comes out with a strong time in Brooklyn.

Overall: 0. Paperboy fails to escape the atmosphere or find the Earth's core with his turn, breaking even.

3.Yang dismisses calls to defund police as extremism and says ideas like that are harmful to Democratic party

M4A: 3/10. Many of Yang's moderate supporters are worried about this move, with many affluent white liberals in Manhattan rather enjoying the health insurance they already have. Meanwhile, Yang fails to seriously energize progressives with the move.

Ads: 2/10. The ads are poorly produced and shoddy, and most New Yorkers aren't impressed by marketing dredged up from Yang's Presidential campaign.

Defund The Police: 4/10. While Yang does rebuild some of his relationship with his moderate supporters, many progressives are worried about the move, and aren't looking for a pro-cop Mayor this election.

Overall: -6. Yang takes blow after blow this turn as his campaign weakens and both moderates and progressives are soured to him. As the race moves on New Yorkers are starting to tune in, and they may not be liking what they're seeing from the Yang campaign.

Muslim Democratic Club: 2/10. The meeting goes poorly, with Wiley flubbing on multiple facts and statistics regarding the Muslim community in NYC, and failing to mention even one concrete policy to help the community. The endorsement is not granted.

Alianaza Islamica: 10/10! Wiley seems to brush off her failures with the Muslim Democratic Club and easily win over Alianaza Islamica. This provides a boost for Wiley with a specific group in the city while helping continue to build a diverse coalition for her bid.

Jeffries: 10/10! Hakeem grants his endorsement as soon as Wiley asks to meet! A major and needed boost for her candidacy.

Overall: +7. Wiley continues her surge as her campaign gathers energy and some important endorsements, helping strengthen her diverse and progressive bid for Mayor.

Law And Order: 4/10. McGuire continues to struggle on law-and-order and the police, failing to gather any more support from members of the NYPD while pushing away a few crime focused voters with weak and seemingly desperate rhetoric.

Bloomberg: 6/10. McGuire is able to move the needle, providing a strong appeal to the Bloomberger. But with the current state of the race, Mike is not yet committed. Still, progress has been made, and with a little more pressure the Mayor could be convinced.

Torres: 10/10! Ritchie is a new up-and-comer to Congress, and his energetic endorsement is able to provide life to Ray's campaign as it continues to look for ways to strengthen his chances and build the right coalition.

Overall: +5. The McGuire campaign is able to find strength through a powerful endorsement from Ritchie Torres as it begins to gather momentum in this heated race for Mayor.

1. Maya Wiley will refuse to debate with Mateo. She will cite that she is far more focused on the people of New York and winning the Democratic Party's nomination than wasting time debating someone unlikely to even come close to winning the Republican nomination. If the other candidates want to take the time debating Mateo that only gives her campaign more time to work on winning over voters in the Democratic primary while her opponents are doing debate prep on general election questions.

2. Wiley's campaign will attempt to win the endorsement of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York and their PAC, knowing that the pro-choice organization is a huge bastion of support for the up and coming progressive. The funds could be crucial in zapping progressive support from Yang, Stringer, and Donovan. If successful, she will instruct that they begin funding ads targeting the Brooklyn area that would likely carry her to victory.

3. Finally, Wiley will meet with the Working Families Party to obtain their endorsement as well.

McGuire will go after the big guns this time: the NYC PBA, the largest association of NYPD officers. If anyone can turn around his fortunes on the law and order issue, it’s this group of brave servants.

McGuire will continue to appeal to Bloomberg as a candidate who recalls the unity he brought to the city and the desire to do the same with similar pro-growth and law and order policies.

McGuire will finish the week by appealing to former Staten Island Congressman Max Rose in an attempt to win more support from moderate-conservative democrats, independents, and even some republicans as he recruits a major De Blaise critic. Rose will also be the beginning of Rays attempt to bring moderate to conservative to orthodox Jewish voters into his coalition due to their conservatism and overarching concern for law and order and growth.

Sliwa appeals to Jewish voters by giving a speech about his commitment to supporting Israel, the Jewish people, and religious freedom.

Sliwa will seek the Independence Party of NY’s endorsement, as he, like the party, is a big tent populist.

He also seeks the support of the Reform Party of NY, of which Sliwa is a former member.
