vcczar
John W. Bricker is unusual in that he has no actions before becoming a pres candidate and VP nom. He was certainly part of the Robert Taft conservative GOP, which foreshadows contemporary (non-populist) GOP. His actions: Bricker, John W 1944 Rep VP nom and pres cand Bricker, John W 1944 Criticizes New Deal and calls FDR a front for the Communist Party Bricker, John W 1947 Survives assassination attempt Bricker, John W 1953 Bricker Amdt to restrict president in treatymaking Bricker, John W 1957 Endorses Civil Rights Act of 1957, despite his States Rights record Bricker, John W 1958 Defeated for reelection in shocking upset to SM Young, presumably over issues regarding Labor Unions
