Truman had served with him in committees in the Senate and wanted to earn some bipartisan support, so appointed Burton. His actions: Burton, Harold H 1943 resolution to create a permanent U.N. Burton, Harold H 1945 Hill-Burton Act to fund hospitals Burton, Harold H 1945 Confirmed to the SC for Truman, despite being a Republican Burton, Harold H 1954 Helps with shaping majority opinion of Brown v.
