Ben Nighthorse Campbell of CO is one of only a handful of politicians that identify as Native American that definitely look Native American. His father was apparenlty mostly Native American (Cheyenne Indian), while his mother was Portuguese. 

His actions:

Campbell, Ben Nighthorse 1995 Switches from Dem to GOP over friction w/ CO state Dem Party and defeat of Balanced Budget Amendment
Campbell, Ben Nighthorse 1997 Influential Senate Indian Affairs Committee Chair. While not the first of Native American descent to hold this spot. He is the first to be strongly identified as Native American
Campbell, Ben Nighthorse 1999 Votes to convict Clinton in impeachment trial, despite former Dem allegiance
Campbell, Ben Nighthorse 2004 One of 6 GOPers to vote against Federal Marriage Amendment
Campbell, Ben Nighthorse 2016 Endorses Kasich in GOP primary
