vcczar
Sen. Ted Cruz (TX-R) has a ton of actions, although few are based on legislation, since he's mostly rhetorical. Cruz is a rare politician who is liked by almost no one. There's a litany of negative comments about him on both sides of the aisle. Lindsay Graham even said if Cruz were shot in the US Senate during a full session, and the trial was in the Senate, not a single senator would convict the shooter. George W. Bush said, "I just don't like that guy." GOP Rep Peter King said he'd take cyanide if Cruz ever became president. And Boehner's quote "Lucifer in the flesh" gained a lot of attention during the 2016 GOP primary elections and is the one most often quoted about him. This quote by Boehner is probably connected to the theory that if the devil (or anti-Christ) reappeared on earth, he'd appear under the guise of being the most faithful Christian. Nevertheless, Cruz is rhetorically brilliant and an elite-level idealogue. Those that hold completely to his ideals should feel lucky to have him because he's forceful and doesn't shy from leading on his views. The "Theocrat" politician interest in AMPU is mostly inspired by Cruz, the most notable of those politician who use their faith as a tool to secure votes, support, and influence. His actions: Cruz, Ted 2013 Major role in Govn't shutdown, including Leading unsuccessful fillibuster to block funding for Obamacare Cruz, Ted 2013 Votes against Fed Aid package for recovery following Hurricane Sandy (will demand aid when TX is hit by hurricane in 2017) Cruz, Ted 2014 Filibusters Continuing Appropriations Act Cruz, Ted 2015 Declares Obergefell SC case, which called same-sex marriage bans unconstitution, as the "definition of tyranny." Cruz, Ted 2015 Attacks McConnell over reauthorizing Export-Import Bank Cruz, Ted 2015 A leading opponent of the Iran Nuclear Deal Cruz, Ted 2016 GOP cand for Pres Cruz, Ted 2016 Described by fmr Speaker Boehner as "Lucifer in the flesh" Cruz, Ted 2016 Gives major speech at 2020 GOP Conv, but refuses to endorse Trump at Convention Cruz, Ted 2016 Crucial late endorsement of Trump likely helped Trump secure reluctant voters Cruz, Ted 2017 Helps draft unsuccessful bill to repeal and replace Obamacare Cruz, Ted 2017 Co-sponsors Israel Anti-Boycott Act Cruz, Ted 2017 One of a small group of Sens to advise Trump to withdraw from Paris Agreement Cruz, Ted 2018 Narrowly wins reelection against O'Rourke in nationalized election Cruz, Ted 2020 Declines considering for appt to the SC by Trump Cruz, Ted 2020 Helps lead attempt to block the counting of PA's EVs in 2020 pres election Cruz, Ted 2021 Supports Trump's unfounded claims of election fraud in 2020 election Cruz, Ted 2021 One of a few Sens to vote against counting PA and AZ EVs on Jan 6th after the insurrection occurred Cruz, Ted 2021 Criticized for vacationing in Cancun as historic winter storm sees million in TX without power or running water
OrangeP47
For as big talk as this was about Cruz being bad, 2016 a lot of people were trying to make him the alternate to Trump, at least of the people I knew when it came to the IL Primary (which as I've told you recently, anyone can vote in any primary). Granted, IL is after Super Tuesday, so it may have been a "who's left" by then.
Pringles
Texas 2024 will be fun with both him and Trump on the ballot. Two very unpopular individuals.

He seemed entirely reasonable and his tone was hopeful until Trump was nominee. Technically, Kasich lasted a day longer than Cruz in the GOP primary.
