Eisenhower was considered a below average president on leaving office -- mainly because 1957 econ panic and U-2 scandal. He's now often a top 5 or top 10 president. Despite our hyper-partisan times, he seems to be the kind of president everyone likes. Strangely, neither party could get him nominated today. OrangeP47 Posted October 15 Share Posted October 15 I'm going to go favorable on the condition that I think his heart was in the right place a lot of the time, and he was a good general, I just think entering politics was probably a big mistake.
