Saint Louis is no longer the crime capital of the country! Now if we can just get rid of our incompetent and corrupt politicians maybe we can actually be more than “that city who has the Cardinals and created gooey butter cake”.

It's crazy that the worst crime city in Europe would rank #10 in the US, even with the alleged crime brought by the 2015 Migrant Crisis. And then our safest city--Salt Lake City--wouldn't make the top 10 safest cities in Europe. These rankings would basically be the same with Obama and Trump, so this chart isn't focused on Biden at all. It's a national issue that's existed for some time. Part of it is certainly corruption and incompetence, but a lot of it is drug policy and gun policy.

I think NYC should be particularly studied because it's a top 10 safest city and it has 9 million people. I lived in NYC for 5 years after grad school, and I've never felt safer in a city of 1+ million people. I used to walk all over the place at 3am, taking the subways at that time. I also lived in Austin, spent a lot of time in Boston, and in San Antonio. Of the bad crime places, I live in Philadelphia and spent a lot of time in New Orleans.  I think a comparative study of NYC, Boston, and Austin would be helpful.
