1824 Election Announcement (Continuation of CE2’s RP)

[CE2 has taken a break from hosting this RP, so I’m continuing with the 1824 election so we can get closure.]

Economic (44/100)

Domestic (37/100)

Foreign (69/100)

Randolph’s term was mediocre economically, and there was some lingering division from the former Federalists and Jacksonian Democrats. However, the foreign policy of Randolph was pretty good. Overall he had a ho hum presidential term that was neither amazing or horrible.

In other news, President Randolph and Vice President Van Buren have both survived their first term without issue. The rest of the Supreme Court has also survived, for now.

The Federalist Party is now defunct, following the scandals and divisions of the prior years. As a result the Democratic Republican Party is the only one on the ballot. However, the congressional caucusing method previously used to select nominees has been attacked as un-Democratic, and many states are allowing candidates to file to run without winning the caucus.

[Randolph is the official Dem-Rep nominee (unless he chooses to retire), and no primary will be held. However, Dem-Reps may run independently if they choose. Should a candidate fail to reach a majority in the general election, a second ballot will be taken of the top three finishers to simulate a contingent election in the house. Should that also fail to produce a majority then subsequent ballots of the top three finishers will continue to be held until one candidate receives a majority. Former Federalists can run as Dem-Reps or run without a political affiliation.]

Richard Rush and John C. Calhoun enter the race.

Also, John C. Calhoun says that he is willing to be anybody's VP.

They also announce that should they lose, they are willing to support anybody in return for cabinet positions.

Other Notes:

* This election is the first where poor whites will be able to vote

How will this affect gameplay?

Jackson believes Calhoun is a strong, steadfast, great defender of the white man and beliefs that formed this country. Unlike the Federalists who nominated a woman for the Presidency. Jackson promises to involve Calhoun heavily in his hopeful Administration.
