I don't follow contemporary football, and my knowledge of historical football players is few , and far between, so I picked whoever sounded the most familiar. My reasoning reasoning was that, if they were so notable, as to be known by a layperson like me, then they must be pretty great compared to the countless other pretty good football players that aren't household names.

QB: Brady (the success trumps everything even though there are a number of more talented QBs)

RB: Barry Sanders (too bad the Lions wasted him, like Megatron; responsible for the Lions only playoff win in the SB era)

WR: Jerry Rice (his greatness and longevity is unmatched)

TE: Tony Gonzalez (there is a big difference between him and everyone else who has played the position)

OL: Joe Thomas (this was the toughest but his success on the Browns is just so impressive)

DL: Alan Page (1 of 2 defensive MVPs; 2 time DPOY; leader of the Purple People Eaters; helped lead the Vikings to 4 SB appearances)(he also earned his law degree while playing and spent the summer practicing)

LB: Lawrence Taylor (the other defensive MVP; considered the most dominant defensive player of all time)

DB: Deion Sanders (there's a reason he is the model for corners)

ST: Devon Hester (as a Vikings fan, he was an absolute nightmare for us; greatest overall returner of all time)
