@Cal Any interesting New Orleans stories?

I went twice, both while traveling for work with my father. One time I went into a casino and wasn’t carded which was pretty cool, but I was only there to eat because my dad insisted that casino had the best food in all of New Orleans. Really, I think he just misses his old glory days of gambling his paycheck away and wanted to reminisce 😛

Five is a maybe for me, not sure right now. I know crime is bad there, so it'd depend if that goes down. I have other places higher on my list to go.

I'd say 80% of the crime is isolated to specific neighborhoods.

Probably Harrah's Casino. I remember walking into it when I visited the first time in 2002. It wasn't until 2012 until I gambled. I put down $30 and came out with $110 about 10 minutes later.

The best food in NOLA is not in the Casino. There's some A+++ restaurants in the city though. I've been to most of them. If you ever go again, let me know. I got a lot of recommendations.

Would I want to live in New Orleans. No! I don't like humid weather, I'm not sure I'd feel quite at home in a city like this, I'd be dubious of what, "high-paying job," I'd be being offered, and, oh - U.S. politics...

What if you were placed in charge as president of all New Orleans social workers? If you don't like humid weather, you'll want to avoid anywhere in the gulf or east coasts.

I would fear Louisiana politics more than US politics. New Orleans has decent local politics (socially, speaking), aside from corruption. The rest of the state is mostly awful--extremely conservative in all aspects.

I'll visit and I suppose if you gave me a lot of money I could live there. But other than that... fuck New Orleans. Visit for the history and maybe mardis gras😛  hell to the no of staying there.

I lived in NYC during Hurricane Sandy. That's the only major hurricane that was a threat to me.

I lived in South Carolina when Hurricane Hugo hit.  I was in Florence, far enough inland to avoid most of the damage.  I slept through the storm.

Do we? I dont want to be subject to natural disaster every August-September. And I also dont like living in a city in general. So there's that.

Although, you do live in a city. I imagine my first reason is a shared reason perhaps?

You must be used to humid weather in South Carolina, which was one of my reasons against. And U.S. politics was my last one, which would change in general for you. 😉

Ohhh I see. Didnt read previous comments lol. Yeah I'm pretty used to humid. Although my tolerance for it is high, I hate when I actually feel it. And when I feel the humidity... that's when you know its BAD down here. In general though I like the weather. I get tan a lot and never burn lol, but it also rains a good amount. And I really like when it rains.

As for the politics one I dunno... Louisiana surprisingly has a pretty good Governor, and a decent duo of Senators. 😛

One voted to impeach Trump! 😛

In a REAL Republic, every single citizen, up to and including the Head-of-States and Commander-in-Chief, could, with sufficient evidence, be issued a warrant for their arrest by a common court, have a local enforcer of the law clap them in irons take them to a remand centre to await trial or be given a bond of bail by the court, and then be tried as any citizen, with ALL citizens equal before the law. The concept of impeachment is a sick joke that flies in the very face of justice and due process, and is a nepotistic and corrupt instrument to protect the worst criminals in the nation from the justice they so deserve and turn the political governing class, and certain, "special," government agencies and military groups into a class separate from, "citizens," in their privileges, judicially speaking, much like Feudal, Monarchal, and Theocratic systems have such special classes, and calls into question and challenge the whole concept of whether the United States truly is a Republic or not.

Kind of like how they arrested Louis XVI. 😉

And when the fat pretender himself returns... we the people drag Napoleon out of Elba and onto Paris! Vive L'Empuerer!!!!

Well, Napoleon escaped himself and was greeted by generally happy, yet increasingly indifferent crowds. But yes 😛

I'm not truly certain what part, aspect, point-of-view, or take on this post you're actually laughing at, @Pringles. It could be taken a number of ways, even though the question in the post is dead serious.

Oh its just my evil new world order laughter. Dont worry.

Given many of your uses of the, "laugh," emote, and many of the downright disturbing and inappropriate contexts they've been applied to by you, I really must ask - are you one of those guys that laughs at a funeral? 🤨

You have a genius for turning every thread into an off-topic discussion about emotes.

I get the feeling that that is the typical, "@Dobs dismissive," and that you remain unconvinced of my point and believe special privileged status and separate (and much more favourable) forms of due process and justice, or lack thereof, for the political ruling class is ACTUALLY compatible with the concept of a REPUBLIC, and NOT inherently Feudal, Monarchal, or Theocratic by nature. I must ask, if I am correct (which I believe I am judging by previous uses of that simple response by you), would your belief be based on some view of what a Republic is that inexplicably contradicts the very base concept of it that you believe is reconcilable, or just a knee-jerk reactionary defense to long-standing U.S. institutions and procedures? This is a serious question.

If your premise were true, I would agree. But you seem mistaken on the difference between a political impeachment and a legal prosecution. Impeachment is entirely a political maneuver meant to hold office holders accountable for any violations of their oath of office. The criminal justice system, on the other hand, is entirely empowered to try and convict office holders for violations of the criminal code of the United States just as they would any other citizen. I agree, this is an important piece of a Republic and I'm glad it's true of the United States.

As someone who has been to multiple funerals. No. However, I recall a family member being renowned for her sense of humor. And some of her classic one liners were included in a eulogy by her daughters. It was a laughter in good faith, and in honor.

Yes, I'm not personally a supporter of capital punishment, myself. I would have wanted life in prison for him - like Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinpeng, Narendi Modi, Kim Jong-un, Benjamin Netanyahu, Bashir Assad, the ENITRETY of the Princes of adult age of the al-Saud family, Ali Khaemani, Bolsonario(sp), Duerte(sp), Reciyp Erdogan, Tony Blair, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and many other sitting and retired heads-of-state and/or -government should ultimately be.

I know where you're coming from, but someone like Kim would absolutely deserve a death penalty.

Do you have a reason for giving a life sentence to Bolsonaro? I don't like him, but I would like to know your reason.

Also, why Joe Biden? I don't remember him declaring wars?
