I personally enjoy EU4 (Europa Universalis IV) and Hearts of Iron IV both great games. You could play as a monarch or a president and the features are nice

EU4 and CK3. I think I'll like Victoria 2 as I liked the first one a lot. Not as into the Roman one or Hearts of Iron series.

I kind of wish the RPG element of CK3 was included in EU4. I think I slightly prefer EU4 regardless, however.

I'm old enough to have played the original EU4 and I also helped make an add on for EU2 called "The Age of Nationalism" or something like that.

EU4 is by far my favorite 🙂 I like how it looks and managing the economy and trade as well as the warfare in it.

Sometimes I play as Switzerland and just try to see how neutral and status quo I can be. It's kind of boring, but fun if you want to play but also kind of just "watch."

I am a Crusader Kings man all the way but I also grew up playing Hearts of Iron 3, and Darkest Hour. And I love HOI3, but I also love HOI4. Even if it's too simple at times.

Victoria 2 is an honorable mention.

EU4 is the one the paradox game I cant get into. Not because I dont like it necessarily. For some reason I'm just not good at it like the other games.

I actually loved the original Crusader Kings the most.

CK2 was good, I played the hell out of it.  But CK1 (+Deus Vult) was the best.

I played CK3 for a bit, but it hasn't held my interest.  I'm waiting for the A Song of Ice And Fire (Game of Thrones books) mod before I dive back into it.

I've dabbled in the others.  Never really enjoyed EU or HOI.  No idea what I'm doing in those games.  Victoria was fun but I haven't touched in maybe a decade now.  Stellaris is probably the one I've played most outside of the CK games.

EU4 > CK2/3 > Vicky 2 >>>>> HOI4.

HOI is really the only series that I don't really care for. EU4 is probably just my favorite for the vast expanse of what you can do.

Hearts of Iron 4 is fun. Crusader Kings 3 is nice. Europa Universalis 4 is cool.

But Victoria 2 triumphs over all any day

Thank for you tuning into my PSA.

(On a serious note, I just find Victoria the most fun to play. Turns out even in the span of a hundred years you can really screw up the world.)

I've never played a game by this company, I admit. I mean, I love nation-building strategy games in general, and have played among the most pioneering, foundational, best-selling, best-known, acclaimed, and iconic games of the genre. I just never got around this particular company. Also (though I could be wrong, I admit) they don't look very friendly to custom scenario- and mod-making, which is often a thing for me nowadays. In fact, most of what I do know is from you guys talking about them, actually. I don't hear them mentioned elsewhere, often, at all, where I hang out, except in cursory mentions.

You're definitely wrong about mods.  There's eleventy bajillion of them.

You do need to be able to figure out some programming -- but I was able to teach myself enough to make some significant edits to the ASOIAF mod despite having no computer programming background.  I just looked at what they did and reverse engineered it.

Not as simple as making a custom scenario in President Infinity, but you can go completely wild with your Paradox Interactive mods if you know what you're doing.

I really think hed enjoy Kaiserreich for HOI4, or HOI2 Darkest Hour even.

A great story telling, action packed mod.

Based around if Germany won WW1.

A friend of mine back on a Civ2 site (who was Austrian, but much older than @ConservativeElector2 - more a contemporary of myself) made a custom Civ2 scenario based on Germany winning WW1, but the, "what-if," plot was his own imagination, as this was over a decade before Kaiserreich was released. I believe I I still have that scenario. It was called, "Blood and Steel," or some such, I believe.

That's cool. Yeah, it's kinda crazy how the world would be if they won WW1.

In Kaiserreich it is chaos.

The British Crown has been exiled out of the UK as Socialists/Anarchist install a regime/commune.

Leaving Canada as the seat of the British King.

France has been pushed off its mainland in a similar fashion. And the Republic/Not so much a Republic is lead by Marshal Petain. (Located in North African French Territories)

USA has Herbert Hoover but a Civil War is brewing. Between Socialists similar to the kind in Europe that pushed the old powers out, Huey Long and the racist south. And the uprising of the Democracy-Aligned West Coast.

Last playthrough I did I lead the federal government to victory.

John Nance Garner was the President but quickly resigned due to Douglas MacArthur taking over the Government due to war time measures.

Once I won though I had MacArthur bring the Republic back. And one of FDRs relatives became President. Before I had MacArthur return to win a landslide of his own.

It was fun. 😛
