So who should become president in the event of a President and Vice President becoming incapacitated.

Also do you know these people? They have been technically the "Acting Vice Presidents" when sitting Vice Presidents either died or ascended to the Presidency.

I think the Sec of State should be next in line since he or she is selected by the ticket that was elected by the people.

I say Speaker of the House because it’s technically the only other “elected” position (even if it isn’t by the public).

It is not difficult to imagine an event that immediately wipes out the entire line of succession, given that they all reside/work in DC and interact frequently with each other.  Hell, COVID could have done it.

I've always believed Governors should be in the mix, as their job is similar in concept to what the President does -- more similar than what the Speaker or President Pro Tempore do.

Not sure how to rank them.  By most populist state?  By longest serving Governor?  Only include the governors who are the same party as the President?  There's pros and cons to however you do it.

But Governors should absoltuely be in the mix, if only because it's borderline impossible to imagine an event that would take all 50 of them out at the same time, while also wiping out the rest of the line of succession.

At least, an event in which America as a concept survives and actually needs a leader still.

Yeah I thought about them. Wasn't sure as well how to choose a governor. Longest-serving or from the most populous state makes sense of course.
