The Return of SeanFKennedy’s RP

President Gore is in a pretty good position, he passed his healthcare reform, Osama Bin Laden is dead and the economy is improving after the financial crash of 2012. Although economic growth has slightly slowed down most Americans are generally happy with the direction of the country. While making a campaign promise to only serve one term neither President Gore or Vice President Brown have made any definitive statements on who would be running As both of them enjoy universal support among Democrats, a majority support among independents and a surprisingly high approval from even some Republicans. Meanwhile on the Republican side, looking at another long and grueling primary The Republicans are going to need a unifying figure and be able to bring Gore’s administration’s approval back down to Earth. However anything can happen as the race for the White House begins yet again.

Republican Iowa Straw Poll

Dick Cheney 20%
Norm Coleman 18%
Rick Santorum 15%
Carly Fiorina 13%
Mitt Romney 11%

In the 2010 midterms, the Gore administration was able to do something that rarely happens, in that they were able to retain both chambers of Congress due to the overwhelming popularity of the Gore Administration. Dems held the house of representatives with a slim 225-210 margin, while the Senate continued to get more interesting with Dems holding a 54-40-3-1-1-1 majority.

Senate flips in 2010 included:

  • Alaska: Lisa Murkowski (R) --> Mike Gravel (G)
  • Arkansas: Blanche Lincoln (D) --> Mike Huckabee (R)
  • Hawaii: Daniel Inouye (D) --> Linda Lingle (R)
  • Louisiana: David Vitter (R) --> John Bel Edwards (D)
  • New Hampshire: Judd Gregg (R) --> Jeanne Shaheen (D)
  • North Dakota: Byron Dorgan (D) --> John Hoeven (R)
  • South Carolina: Jim DeMint (R) --> Jim Clyburn (D)

Notable non-flip newcomers include:

  • Colorado: Michael Bennett (D)
  • Kentucky: Rand Paul (R)
  • Ohio: John Kasich (R)
  • Ohio Special: Dennis Kucinich (D)
  • Illinois: JB Pritzker (D)

Absolutely! You still have control over Bernie (From 2008), and you're allowed to control more than one politician (Preferably 3-5). You could run a left-wing challenge in the Dem primary and/or focus on downballot races. Third parties are also a possibility given their success in this universe.

We have a link to the spreadsheet with all active Senators/Governors and who currently has control of who. For Representatives you can honestly just use your imagination, there's nothing set for that except for leadership.

In terms of the old RP we do have an archive.

New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg and UN Ambassador Gary Johnson will make a shocking joint announcement in the weeks following the 2010 Midterms, revealing their plans to form the centrist "America United Party", with goals to break up the American duopoly by forming a moderate bloc in government which forces compromise and "strikes at the extremes pulling us apart" as Mike puts it. While the party is being marketed as a big-tent effort to unite America's moderates, it will take specific policy positions in certain areas, calling for free trade, responsible and effective government spending, social liberalism, and democracy reforms such as Ranked-Choice Voting and nonpartisan primaries. While Johnson states the party accepts both registered Democrats and Republicans to fight for its cause, he will also make it clear that the party will run its own candidates across the country, most notably with Bloomberg forming an exploratory committee to run for President with Johnson as his running mate.

Senator Bernie Sanders announces his endorsement of President Al Gore and Vice President Sherrod Brown in their fight for reelection this year putting an end to speculations about him launching left wing third party. He pledges to help Gore get reelected, but also starting the down ballot "political revolution" of progressive candidates. He emphasizes that main objective now is to beat the Republicans, but that after election he is ready to fight Gore if he is not willing to embrace popular progressive agenda.

Alex Jones was one unlike the others. He walks with controversy behind him. But that doesn't deter the man. He ran because the Republican and Democratic parties are full of loonies. They are snakes working with the special interests and the big dog lobbyists in Washington. The New Patriot Party didn't win in 2010, but it sent a strong message. And Jones is going to take that momentum with him.

Senate Minority Leader Coleman announces Presidential Bid

Coleman is backed by Senators Charlie Crist and Linda Lingle who serve as his co chairs for his campaign alongside Gov. Jeff Flake

The Minority Leader held a press conference today where he announced his candidacy for the 2012 Republican Nomination

"Good afternoon. Thank you all for being here. Some might say it is a little too early for this announcement but our country is at a crossroads, ladies and gentlemen. We can continue with the policies of Al Gore, where we will continue into an era of isolationism and socialism or we can head into the future of international solidarity against terrorism and where the free market prevails. My fellow Americans, it's time we brought back America to its rightful place in the world. It's time we give Americans a tax cut. It's time we cut our national debt. It's time for a Republicans to fix our broken infrastructure and get us moving into the 21st century. I hope you will join me in my campaign for the Republican Nomination and I hope that we may win. God bless you. God bless America."

Newly-elected California Governor Carly Fiorina (R) eschews 2012 Presidential bid

Governor Fiorina is seen as a rising star among Republicans

"I want to first thank you all for coming out to celebrate this historic victory for the Republic of California. I look forward to serving as your Governor and only as your Governor for the next 4 years. We have a lot of work in front of us and I am entirely committed to our great state. There's a lot of work to be done in the Golden State but as I said throughout my campaign, there is no challenge we face that cannot be solved by the California spirit which has just taken hold of the capitol this evening. Thank you all and God Bless California!"

My fellow americans.

I speak to you this evening in July with pride. Yes, with pride in the path we have taken, and in the path we still have to take together.

When you elected me, on a beautiful November evening in 2008, our country was facing great threats. Our economy was in ruins, our society was far behind what should be the country that has led the way of democracy in the world since its foundation as a republic.

Let's be proud of how far we've come. Together, we have put millions of unemployed people back to work, regardless of their political affiliations or where they live. This means millions of households with improved living conditions, and millions of children out of poverty.

Our nation has also learned to take back the path to freedom. We have come a long way since the bullets that unjustly killed Harwey Milk were supposed to open the door to every closet. We have humbly tried to honor his memory, and that of millions of our citizens who fought since Stonewall Inn in secularizing basic civil rights such as marriage. I am proud that the right to marry is recognized by a growing number of our citizens as being independent of any religious consideration. Civil marriage does not take away religious freedom, but rather continues the great road to civil equality that Martin Luther King laid out fifty years ago.

My thoughts also go out to all the victims of the war on drugs, who instead of being treated as people in need of help were for too long treated as criminals. Such double punishment could not be tolerated.

I deplore the arrival of the Islamic State in Iraq, which is why I have always opposed intervention in that country. Let there be no doubt, an Islamic state can only oppose the very existence of the United States of America. We will eradicate this bloodthirsty totalitarian spawn by working with the Republicans. We must have only one line in this matter, that of eradicating these terrorists who are thirsty for imperialism and who carry a project of death.

We will also work in a bipartisan manner to establish an infrastructure project with the Republicans in the Senate until the next presidential election.

In conclusion my fellow citizens, let me say this:

The United States of America is the culmination of a dream. The dream that we collectively stand out as the first freedom fighters. Our freedom is already providential in itself. There is no more stable democracy that has survived wars and centuries without an autocrat ever taking it over. Through the challenges that remain for our administration, and as you have renewed a fully Democratic administration, I will respect the very foundations of our Constitution and work with every branch of government in the months ahead.

"Are you decided to what you do about next primaries mister president?"

Al Gore : Call the Vice Presidential office. I am a man of my words, I promised Sherrod Brown an endorsement by 2012, I won't run again if he does want to go.

Advisor : Are you sure sire? If you would run now, the party would stand behind you and..well, the vice president is more progressive than you are.

Al Gore : The party would not be better if I began breaking my pledges. Call the vice-president, I want to talk with him to confirm that he is set to run as candidate in the next democratic primary. If so he will receive my endorsement.

Advisor : Yes mister president.

Former Senator Rick Santorum Announces a Run for President

The Senator would take the stage in Philadelphia.

"My fellow Americans! I come here before you today to officially announce. That I, Richard John Santorum am officially running for President of the United States!"

"After 4 years under President Gore, it's easy to look on the surface of things and say... you know. Thing's ain't so bad."

"But what about those who haven't joined in the prosperity this nation has achieved in the last 4 years? What about the people who are seeing their rural towns, communities, suffer from the fate of crumbling infrastructure. What about the blue collar worker who continues to not have a candidate speak up for him? And isn't full of the empty promises they've been selling you on for the last 3 decades?"

"My fellow Americans. I enter this race as a committed Conservative. I'm Pro-Life. I'm a proud supporter of the Tea Party's efforts, and I'm most of all, a proud Republican."

"I promise to stand up for Americans who have been left out. We're not going to be a blast to the past with the same old rhetoric that cost us 2008. We're not going to engage in nation building. We are going to reinvigorate President Ronald Reagan's philosophy of 'Peace Through Strength.' Under the Presidency of Al Gore we've seen a new terrorist threat emerge."

He would pause.

"A new enemy that seeks to destroy our very way of life. I will not stop at all costs, to ensure their total eradication. I promise to work with all of my colleagues on this matter."

"We've listened to how good the effects of a public option are in our nation. But what we're seeing with many people who sign up, their rates never get any lower..."

"Are we going to let this slide? Or are we going to WORK?!"

"There's much to do ladies and gentleman. The fight against ISIS ensues. The fight for upholding traditional family values continues. And most of all, the fight for retaking the VERY HALLS OF CONGRESS ENSUES!"

"Do we want a REPUBLICAN TO BRING US INTO A NEW ERA? OR DO WE WANT A REPUBLICAN TO MAINTAIN THE STATUS QUO. THE DO NOTHING REPUBLICAN WHO WON'T CLEAN UP THIS COUNTRY."

"MY fellow Americans! I'm here for you. I'm here to have stand up for America. WITH YOU!"

"Let's send the Democrats a message this fall. NO ONE. Is left behind!"

"LET US HAVE THE COURAGE TO FIGHT FOR AMERICA!"

"LET US FIGHT TO MAKE AMERICA: AMERICA AGAIN!"

"Thank all of you. And God Bless the United States of America.

Rick Santorum Presidential Campaign Announcement | C-SPAN.org

-----------------------------------------------Dick Cheney on daughter: GOP needs 'new leaders'

Meanwhile at Cheney Ranch... in Wyoming.

The Former Vice President would watch the announcement of Santorum.

"A former Senator... yet with such a compelling appeal to Conservatives. Despite being a loser. It can't be me... I know I will lose." Cheney would think to himself.

"Perhaps I can ensure this man has what he needs to win. No public association though... I'll taint him."

"Yes... we gotta create a problem that can't be fixed for the next year hmm."

Haliburton. Oil. Gas.

Prices.

"Lynne! I'll be upstairs for a bit!" Cheney would say to his wife as she cooks dinner.

"I've got some phone calls to make!"

The table was set.

Vice President Sherrod Brown Officially Announces Candidacy for President of The United States

After nearly 3 long years of speculation, Vice President Brown has officially announced his bid to be the next President of the United States on a stage in Mansfield Ohio. Just 1 week after President Gore made it official that he would be stepping down from the office after just one term, Sherrod Brown makes his case as the next in line to the presidency, having won a plurality of the votes in 2008 and serving as a popular Vice President.

Sherrod Brown Speaks Following Senate Victory | Fox 8 Cleveland WJW

"My friends, the people of America. It's been a wonderful three years so far as your Vice President, and I'm proud to have taken on the role of serving you. You may have heard that my friend and colleague Albert Gore announced yesterday that he officially would decline a second term at the office that he has loved so much. First and foremost, I'd like to thank President Gore for a wonderful three years and hope that we can accomplish much more in the time that we have left together. Al and I have found great pride in serving you together and in all that we've accomplished with the mandate that you gave us three years ago, even if I remember it like it was yesterday."

"In the last three years, our administration has accomplished much in our service to the American people, giving every man woman and child in this nation a Presidency that they can look at with a smile on their face. We put forward a stimulus package to deal with the financial crisis and we've seen years of economic growth from this, able to turn around the country in a way that no one thought we could. President Gore and I have slowed the outsourcing of jobs to China and other foreign nations that harm our workers and our economy for their own greed. We were able to add a public option to the healthcare system and fully guarantee coverage for every citizen of this nation, while pulling together the many great nations of this world for a summit to help solve the ever-pressing issue of climate change. We have presided over the expansion of marriage rights to the LGBT community, seeing the most vast expansion of civil liberties since the 1970s. We have dampened the evil war on drugs by decriminalizing the use of marijuana across this nation while presiding over the normalization of usage of marijuana medicinally in many of the nation's states. The War on Terror has been successful in a way that it hadn't been in the previous administration, seeing the death of terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden and the slow withdrawal of troops from Iraq. I could go on and on, but what I mean to say is that we've accomplished more in one term of the presidency than any one term since the Johnson administration."

"This is why, on this great day in 2011, I, Sherrod Campbell Brown from the great state of Ohio, officially announce my candidacy for President of the United States. Many of my Republican friends and colleagues have already stated their intentions to run in this race as well, and I would like to formally wish them good luck and for a productive campaign season."

"To the American people: I am here to promise you a continuation of the success that we have seen in the past 4 years and more. We will continue to encourage the expansion of civil liberties across this great nation and once again show the world why we are the shining house on the hill for the rest of the world to look at in awe and wonder as a bastion of freedom! We are going to continue to guarantee that every single working man and woman has the opportunity to succeed, the opportunity to achieve the American dream! I will usher in a new age of economic growth and progress unseen since the New Deal, ensuring fair - not free - trade between the United States and the nations of the world, while supporting workers of all paths: blue collar workers, white collar workers, young workers, old workers, public sector workers, self-employed workers, rural workers, urban workers, union workers, each and every one of you! Our America will take the necessary steps forward to be an America for everyone and anyone! 4 years ago I stood on this very stage to bring forward my vision to the people of America, and by and large you agreed! Here I am to do it again, and a Brown Administration: by the people, of the people, for the people will ensure that each and every one of you has the right to succeed, thank you for coming and God Bless America!
