Having deadlocked the Electoral College, Johnson forced the election to the House of Representatives where he emerged as the dark horse winner. That was in 2016 and now Johnson is running for re-election. Since being elected President Johnson has drastically changed the Libertarian Party from a fringe party into a viable third party in American Politics. Defections and gains House seats have proved the Libertarian party is here to stay. However, there are rumors of several Libertarians challenging the sitting president. Can Johnson be renominated? The Democratic Party and Republican Party have an open field. Thanks for all coming out today, I bet you're wondering why I've gathered you here? Well, it's to announce that I'm running for President! We've been through a tough few years and it's time we got back on track. Now, I can applaud a lot of President Johnson's social policies but fiscally this isn't where we want to be. America has already been leaving people behind and that's wrong, I don't have to tell you that, and now under President Johnson things are worse. We're being cut left, right and centre. We need to fix this! And that's why I'm running for the Presidency. It's about time America caught up, we need to start working for everyone. Even more than we did before the Johnson administration. We need to enact new policies to ensure that the average can live happily. We need to implement medicare for all, we need to invest in education, invest in small business, raise the minimum wage and move towards a green economy. And we need to do it now! He has refused to do regime change wars in foreign countries. He has stood up for the rights of women, immigrants, and the LGBTQ community. He has supported the legalization of marijuana. However, Gary's record on the economy is a disaster. He has helped corporations and the top 1% more than the Republicans have thus increasing the wealth gap. He has lowered the minimum wage to $0 when it should be 15 bucks thus helping unscrupulous employers take advantage of working class Americans. He has refused to invest in education and social security. He has refused to improve our healthcare system and has made it worse by helping Big Pharma and reducing the government's role. This must stop. This why I am announcing my candidacy for the President of the United States of America. However, I am not running as a Democrat.
