vcczar
VP Kamala Harris already has the 5th most tie-breaking votes in US history with 15. With 5 more, she will have the most by a VP in one term. To break the record (Calhoun had 31), she will need 17 more. To give this perspective, Pence had 13 in his term. Cheney had 8 in two terms. Gore had 4 in two terms. Joe Biden is the only two-term VP to never cast a tie-breaking vote.

A few nominees to some lesser-known posts, also some district attorneys or judicial nominations. When doing that it's mostly two tie-breaking votes per nominee. One for the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination and one on the nominee itself. Oh and I still remember when I suggested to keep track of potential tie-breaking votes and the number per VP in AMPU. We do track tie-breaking votes (at least in the forum version of the game).

Yeah I know, I believe we created that area in the spreadsheets of an earlier playthrough following my suggestion 😛

He only used it thrice over 8 years. It’s important to remember that for a long time, the Democratic Party included both the furthest left and furthest right members of Congress and governed from this broad position of power. It also meant that party cohesion was almost universally incomplete. So there were sometimes very contentious moments in terms of internal Democratic politics.
