I know the anguish that they have been through, unable to mourn their relatives, unable to live their lives as they want or to do the things they love.” He said: “I know the rage they feel with me, and with the government I lead, when they think that in Downing Street itself the rules were not being properly followed by the people who make the rules.” “With hindsight I should have sent everyone back inside,” he said, arguing that the event “could be said, technically, to fall within the guidance” of the time. Johnson said he accepted many would disagree, adding: “To them, and to this house, I offer my heartfelt apology.”
DakotaHale
He should resign. The Conservative party has failed the UK. Cameron lied about the War on Terror, May failed to commit fully to Brexit, splintering her party and putting the nation in an unnecessarily long limbo damaging the economy, and Johnson is a buffoon and a hypocrite who mishandled covid and can’t even follow his own rules.

And a lot of other governing parties in many other major countries. CLEAN THE HOUSE! Do you support the Jan. 6th storming of the Capitol to do exactly that? DakotaHale
UK ended many covid restrictions. Not sure if their executive branch works like ours but if Johnson had a part in it I’m sure it was to cover his own ass and make him look less hypocritical

If I were a Brit, I'd certainly welcome the removal of restrictions. But it isn't going to cause me to forget his previous actions.

Already had one MP defect to Labour today.
Hestia
Just now, Patine said: I often find it dubious, suspicious, and probably untrustworthy, insincere, and opportunistic when a sitting, elected politician defects to an ideologically incompatible party just to capitalize on a political crisis. Mind, that's a general feeling and view of mine, and is certainly not tied to this specific issue. The fiasco of Belinda Stronach here in Canada is very instructive in this matter. Yeah I agree in principle. I think that it would've made more sense to go to independent and then see if he actually fit with Labour (if I were him). As the Labour Party, it's difficult to not capture that political moment and dig the knife in a little bit (as well as boost numbers in the Commons). I get why they agreed to it, but it isn't an ideal situation.
