Soviets Send First Woman Into Space
The Soviets are broadcasting their latest success-- the first woman in space.
50pts to Human Rights
-50pts to Science, Big Tech
Branch Davidians Violating Federal Law
A shoot-out between the Branch Davidians and the federal government has resulted in 10 deaths, including four federal officers. This Christian cult, led by David Koresh, is suspected of stockpiling illegal weapons in a compound in Waco, TX. As per usual, a search warrant and an arrest warrant were served, but members of the compound fired on the officers, resulting in a shoot-out.
Response A: Let State troops enforce Federal Law
Response B: Siege their compound using the FBI and State Troops
Sydney Opera House Opens in Australia
Sydney, Australia opens an impressive opera house.
UN Requests Intervention in Somali Civil War
The Somali Civil War is creating a catastrophic famine in its wake. The UN has been active for awhile in attempting to aid in the food crisis, but they now realize that military intervention to establish democracy and a stable government is essential to resolving the crisis. As such, the UN has requested US intervention in the Somali Civil War.
Response A: Ignore pleas of the United Nations
Response B: Agree to send a task force
Cuban Revolution
Cuban Revolutionaries under Fidel Castro, Che Guevera, and others are attempting to overthrow the government of military dictator Batista. We are uncertain of the political ideology of the Revolutionaries, but they are believed to have Socialist or Communist sympathies.
Response A: Embargo Cuba and send aid and arms to the anti-Communist government
Response B: Ignore interfering in the Cuban Revolution, especially when it might topple a dictator.
Response C : Fully intervene and work towards occupying Cuba to prevent anything other than a democratic republican government.
Steve Largent Retires Holding Several NFL Receiving Records
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver retires as the all-time leader in several receiving categories.
@pman Steve Largent gains celebrity
Religious Right
The Religious Right, also known as the Christian Right, is a well-funded, well-organized group of socially conservative/traditionalist evangelical Christians. Jerry Falwell, leader of the Moral Majority, has seen his influence grow on like-minded politicians in the US, State, and Local governments. We have an opportunity to win the loyalty of an excited voter and donor base if we embrace this movement. However, some argue that doing so blends the line between the Founders’ idea of the separation of church and state.
50pts to Theocrats
Every Blue politician marked theocrat and flippable has a 50% chance of flipping to Red.
ECCPU Mike Braun flips to WillScout
ECCPU Richard Shellby flips to @pman
Abortion legislation worth double next legis phase.

Mayaguez Incident
The Khmer Rouge has captured a US ship that was passing through disputed waters. The Khmer Rouge has recently ousted the pro-US government and is supported by China. However, this new government is also opposed by the Soviet and communist Vietnamese governments.
Response A: Invade Cambodia
Response B: Try diplomacy to recover the survivors, but avoid war.
