  1. I only voted for Alexander the Great and yet I am not fully fully sure that he would be in the top 100 considering that his empire (and its branches) disappeared during the roman era (Cleopatra being the last inheritage from the Greek conquest). Also that the consequences of his conquests haven't really changed the world estate unlike Hitler and Napoléon (I might be wrong or lack informations about the period but I do believe that international relationships and world order remained stable even with his giant empire). It's totally different with europe and sometimes the world after WW2 and the Napoleonic wars. However as he inspired Caesar then Napoléon I did kept him, but honestly I am not fully fully sure.
  2. I only voted for Smith, Hitler, Ackbar and Volta Hitler with his life caused the world to change forever. The world post 1945 has been built against the rise of someone like him, and International Organizations just like liberal democraties have been strenghtened to never repeat this past. He caused millions of deaths and WW2 definitively changed international relationships as well as a technological and social jump into tolerance after 1945. He is probably one of the most evil man who ever lived and there are good reasons why 60/70 years later countries still live in the fear of political extremism and fascism. Volta for the consequences of electricity on the economy and the world, it definitively changed a lot of things.
  3. I just learned today that there actually was a religious schism between the Ukrainian orthodox church and the russian orthodox church in 2018. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Moscow–Constantinople_schism It may sound nothing but it adds on the cultural growing break-up between the two countries up to the war
  4. Okay traditionnaly I do not deviate topic but you forced my hand Prequels : average of 84/100 : Those movies had a purpose and were not useless Phantom Menace : 77/100 Catchy, not the best movie but quite a good open world and good scenario Attack of the Clones : 70/100 I do like how they devellop the scenario, but the movie is a bit too slow even if it keeps building a coherent timeline. Count Dooku and separatists' motives are under-exploited However it's completely saved by the Clone Wars' serie : 90/100 they absolutely brought something to the Star Wars' universe, to its political atmosphere, to separatists' motives, to the pre-empire era. This was not only a show made to get cash. The serie explains how a society and a republic can abandon its liberties through a perpetual state of wars and how the Jedi Council is blind and sometimes out of touch. Revenge of the Siths : 95/100 Near perfection. No minute is uselessly spent, everything is well thought, the music and the drama are immense, the acting is great and the downfall of Anakin as well as the death of Padmé are really sad, it added on the sadness that Vador felt, it also explained how the Republic has become an empire, the "final push" of the Sidious plan. Star Wars' Rogue : 81/100. Not my favourite movie but a very well done one, the closest movie Disney ever done that was similar to the Star Wars' spirit so far. Trilogy : Average of 87/100 great saga of movies. A new Hope : 84/100 Catchy modern, a whole new universe made up in a single movie. The Empire strikes back : 91/100 Near perfection. No scene is boring and characters are well developped. The return of the Jedi : 87/100 Well made, not boring, not as good as the previous movie but it brings to a good conclusion and the build up of Vader's return to the light side was well written and planned, scenes were also well planned. The only small problem is to count on a new death star with an heavier problem than the first one, the scenario of course tried to justify it with the trap. Sequels : Average of 55/100. I forgot the name of episode VII (is it the Light awakens?) but we shall say : 55/100. Copy and paste of the 4th movie with some news elements, but way too much a simple copy and paste of the main arcs of the 4th. However, there are some good ideas of characters and mysteries with Snoke which might be Dark Plagueis and Ben Solo who might have a redemption. Also the mystery of the girl's parent. However the magic credit card of the First Order is stupid. Palpatine could build a death Star because he had the funds of like 2000 galactic systems as emperor, the First Order hasn't the means to build an even heavier stuff with what, 30 planets? Star Wars VIII : 57/100 (it's a controversial opinion) I like that everything was broken, but it also destroyed the whole purpus of the VIIth movie and hijacked the way of the sequels. Star Wars IX : 50/100 Palpatine comes to rescue because they are in lack of ideas, it completely destroys the well ending of Star Wars VI and it brings absolutely nothing, plus the girl (yes I lost her name) saves Ben Solo SO ANAKIN COULD HAVE REALLY SAVED PADME AND IT BREAKS THE WHOLE ARC OF LIES OF PALPATINE TO PUSH ANAKIN TO THE DARK SIDE IN THE PREQUELS. Basically Sequels don't bring anything to the saga, worse, they attack the coherence of prequels and trilogy movies.
  5. "Yeah I was a Jedi knight, before 2020s casual US politic"
  6. But I can say without much hesitations for who I would vote if I would be Italian (the Partido Democratico) living in Madrid (the PSOE) in the US (the democratic party) In the UK I would have voted Libdem up to 2015 where I would have switched for Labour You can project yourself in an environment and know for which party you would vote
  7. Pro states for almost everything excepted civil liberties 😛 So for example I do oppose the overturn of Roe v Wade because I don't think that states should regulate abortion or same sex marriage, but I am totally in favor of a great economic autonomy for states @Patine My vote is determined by a huge number of factors which are not always linked to a single issue, I can not vote for a party because of an important issue for me, but I do not rule out voting for parties which share a certain number of my values. In my votes casted since I got the right to vote I voted for several different parties from the left to the center-right depending of the candidates and platforms and issues.
  8. There are just too many ways to deviate from "an ideology" There is no typical progressive or conservative party ideology, there are just common grounds Here is for example my ideology That will show you If I would be a US citizen i would still vote for democrats, even progressive because the Cultural Axis is the most important to me However it is true that I could vote for a republican like Murkowski or Phil Scott
  9. French left will go united in the legislative election for the first time in 10 years (Socialists Communists Mélenchon party and Greens)
  10. Most of the executive power will be played during legislative elections
  11. We should start an UN summit to settle this
  12. This is the real final result @Hestia predicted the right score 0,05% close.
  13. Important change from 2017
  14. Actually with more votes being counted Macron is at 58,4%.
  15. My bet is Macron 59% but I am unsure Result in 13 minutes.
  16. The debate this year was much better than the one from 5 years ago Here is a poll about who convinced who during the debate by electorate
  17. Post debate poll of who won the debate
  18. The french runoff debate between Marine le Pen and Emmanuel Macron will be broadcasted in direct english translation in 15 minutes here :
  19. It's in 3 days on April 20th 3 PM eastern time I guess that France 24 will broadcast an english version in direct. Traditionnaly more than 16 millions of french follow the debate up to 20 millions so at least half of voters.
  20. Marine le Pen backflips on the death penalty. Initially willing to submit it to referendum, she now says that she doesn't want and uses the unconstitutionnality argument (which is true, death penalty is prohibited in the French Constitution). However several of her others referendums are also threatened of unconstitutionnality and she doesn't seem to care about these, so my guess is that she wants to moderate her position on it to attract more right-wingers.
