In 1786, there's heavy debate over whether to disband the Continental Congress in favor of focusing efforts on a Constitutional Convention.  The southern states are united in opposition, most of the northern and border states are in favor.

With New Hampshire abstaining, Connecticut shall be the deciding vote.  The fate of our nation hinges on CT representatives Joshua Coit and William Samuel Johnson -- both controlled by the same player.

The cool part is that these two representatives are the ONLY reps that this player has, out of 39 total reps right now.

He controls a "tiny but mighty" faction right now -- only two reps, but he's sure making them count!  ;c)

The nation waits with bated breath to hear whether these two men will support the government as-is, run by a Continental Congress...or whether they'll decide to tear the entire government down and start over from scratch.

We had the Constitutional Convention, but the northern states went way to hard against the Southerners, refusing to accept the 3/5 slave compromise.  As a result, they were only able to get 8 out of the needed 9 Governors to ratify the Constitution, and it looked like the whole thing was going to be scrapped with a return to the Continental Congress for the foreseeable future...

Until a random Georgia delegate (so random that his wikipedia page says "Not much is known about his life...") succeeded on a 25% chance to convince his Governor to sign.  Now the Constitution is ratified, and notably the South has almost no political power as their electoral votes and number of Reps in the House have been depleted by the refusal of the 3/5 compromise.

We were aiming much higher but we'll take what we can get.

After winning veto-proof majorities in the 1958 midterms, Democrats pushed an aggressive agenda and found more cooperation from the White House than anticipated. Following an unusually productive legislative session, President Edward Brooke signs into law the creation of NASA, the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, a repeal of the cap on the House of Representatives, and most excitingly, the passage of statehood for Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, for a grand total of 52 states.

Also passed Medicaid. Which strangely enough also isn't that big deal in the game either. I can see why you'd site the Dept of Transportation over it lmao. It just garnered 50 points for a few folks and no meters changed.
