  1. Following the results of the New Jersey primary, it is mathematically impossible for George McGovern to win a majority of the delegates, and the Democratic Party will have a contested convention.
  2. 1992 New Jersey Democratic Primary Results Mario Cuomo - 51.85% - 54 delegates George McGovern - 48.15% - 51 delegates
  3. A necessary evil, for sure. It’s very close but I lean disapprove because I believe he truly is just an elitist piece of shit rather than someone with some moderate beliefs or a political opportunist. Love the guy though, wish he could be in the senate as long as WV is a red state.
  4. 1992 Montana Democratic Primary Results George McGovern - 64.26% - 10 delegates Mario Cuomo - 35.74% - 6 delegates
  5. 1992 California Democratic Primary Results George McGovern - 1,551,152 votes - 54.18% - 189 delegates Mario Cuomo - 1,311,944 votes - 45.82% - 159 delegates
  6. 1992 Alabama Democratic Primary Results Mario Cuomo - 58.19% - 32 delegates George McGovern - 41.81% - 23 delegates
  7. Ohio: 6. It's a bit late to withdraw from the ballot, but McGovern's plea still comes across to a generally positive reception. Just about half of McGovern's voters are happy to oblige The Prophet's request and switch to Traficant, but he still retains a large amount of his support in the state. Forevah: 2. What the fuck? You're just lucky that suburban moms were offended enough to get this taken off the air, but the damage is still done. Sure, a few southerners loved it but your core base is not Moynihan's base! Hitler: 7. The cheers are immense. You can feel the San Francisco ground rumble and shake as the word Italian comes out of your mouth. Is this a sign from god, a century-defining quake? Maybe. In front of McGovern, the ground begins to crack, and devotees are pulled down en masse into the underworld. From the crack arises the spirit of Hitler himself. He explains that he's come from the 19th Hell Dimension of the underworld to bestow upon McGovern the Sword of Pyroskorn, the Emberfiend of Xylothar. Upon grabbing the sword, the entire 1-block radius surrounding The Prophet begins to crumble around him, leaving him as one man, standing alone against the horde that is the American establishment. Overall: 0, -1 (Cuomo) = -1. It was a pretty standard week. District: 2. "GET YO GOOFY ASS OUTTA HERE". Traficant's district is not a fan of him, they just wish anybody else would represent them so they would stop being so embarrassed to mention that they're from Northern Ohio. Ohio: 9. But the rest of the state fucks hard with Traficant. It's the end of the primary and that favorite son effect is really beginning to factor in for the people of Ohio. Youngstown: 5. Traficant thinks that it's a passionate rally, but really he just summoned the energy of Bob Kerrey and gave us nothing. Overall: +1. We'll see how you do, most of Ohio is starting to love Jim, except his hometown, of course. Cuomo: 9. The ad goes so swimmingly, that consumers all across the nation line up outside of Italian pizza joints asking if they can "buy the Cuomo". Pizzamen hadn't planned for this, but they all work together and quickly invent a new pizza to satiate the hungry hungry hippos that are Cuomo Fans. McGovern: 6. The attack ads go okay, he points out the McGovern was actually endorsed by Hitler himself and a few people are like "oh that might be bad". California: 6. The media connections don't do much to take off the perception that Cuomo is the candidate of the elites, but enough people are attracted enough to watch the rally on TV, and a few are convinced. Overall: +6. Some nice momentum for Cuomo, heading into the final week!
  8. I've been on the Sotomayor retirement train for a while, but I do fear that a Supreme Court seat coming up in an election year might serve to further polarize the electorate, which may jeopardize the Senate Dems who need to win in red states (ala 2018). I'd say I still support the idea because the difference between a 6-3 court and 7-2 court is not a risk I want to take, but I'm a bit more tentative on how good of a plan it actually is. Besides, Dems could always just push a justice through ACB style between the election and senators being seated.
  9. National Polling - May 28th, 1992 George McGovern: 51% (-4) Mario Cuomo: 32% (+3) James Traficant: 2% (=) Undecided: 15% (+1) Upcoming Races Outlook - May 28th, 1992 Alabama: Likely Cuomo (+13) California: Likely McGovern (+11) Montana: Safe McGovern (+32) New Jersey: Toss-Up New Mexico: Likely McGovern (+12) Ohio: Likely McGovern (+15), Traficant at 10% The Final Primaries will take place at the end of this turn And a such, a new turn begins. @Fbarbarossa @The Blood @Cenzonico
  10. Democratic State of the Race - 5/28/92 Delegates needed to win: 1,748 Note: Popular vote is for primaries only. George McGovern - 6,051,858 votes - 44.73% - 1,266 delegates - 36.23% of total Mario Cuomo - 5,092,089 votes - 37.64% - 1,062 delegates - 30.39% of total James Traficant - 195,147 votes - 1.44% - 2 delegates - 0.06% of total Daniel Patrick Moynihan (suspended) - 2,158,302 votes - 15.95% - 438 delegates - 12.54% of total Bob Kerrey (suspended) - 14,274 votes - 0.11% - 11 delegates - 0.31% of total Bob Casey Sr (suspended) - 17,893 votes - 0.13% - 10 delegates - 0.29% of total Joe Biden (suspended) - 0 votes - 0.00% - 5 delegates - 0.14% of total George McGovern would need 68.86% of the remaining delegates to secure a majority.
  11. 1992 Arkansas Democratic Primary Results Mario Cuomo - 52.91% - 19 delegates George McGovern - 47.09% - 17 delegates
  12. 1992 Kentucky Democratic Primary Results George McGovern - 47.20% - 27 delegates Mario Cuomo - 42.68% - 25 delegates Jim Traficant - 10.12% - 0 delegates
  13. Wallave: 2. Not only is Wallace offended, but the comments leak to the press! Now the whole nation knows that The Prophet was willing to overturn the civil rights act, and this loses him most demographics, even if it helps amongst Moyniheads. Hilldawg: 2. Hillary Rodham Clinton rejects McGovern's offer, and reports him to the Arkansas police force for sexual harassment. Jerry Brown: 8. Governor Brown endorses. There's probably an AO3 work out there that elaborates on why. Overall: -3, -9 (Cuomo) = -12. Not a good week at all for McGovern, except in California, where he was able to win the heart and head of Jerry Brown. AAs: (7,9,8) = 24/30. The attack ads are incredibly damaging to the McGovern campaign, finally taking Cuomo's huge establishment budget and burying McGovern for all his hijinks and scandals that've gone unnoticed. Overall: +9. A really lucky week for a breakthrough after all this time. Swag Like Ohio: (7,3,9) = 19/30. Traficant is able to get some support back in his district and the surrounding areas, taking advantage of the two leading candidates' unpopularity. Overall: +4. A positive week in Traficant's remaining state is important, but is it enough to put him on track for delegates?
  14. For 10, you take both the good and the bad. For 21, yes but only public schools. For 29, make public schools free and remove or significantly decrease interest from student loans.
  15. I'm still the only person who's a realist on number 7 smh

  20. 1992 Oregon Democratic Primary Results George McGovern - 68.53% - 32 delegates Mario Cuomo - 31.47% - 15 delegates
  21. Arkansas: 8. Bill Clinton accepts McGovern's challenge, and they agree to have their showdown on the Arsenio Hall Show. Bill Clinton thinks he's won the battle when he pulls out his epic sax skills, but The Prophet pulls out a recorder, on which he plays an enchanting snake charmer tune that wins over the audience. California: 4. McGovern's statement divides the Californian Democratic base, whom aren't sure whether it's actually a good idea to get AIDS. Wallave: 6. Wallave is glad to hear McGovern's claim, but not nearly enough to get on board with the ProgMaster. Overall: +3, -1 (Cuomo) = +2. Yet another positive turn for McGovern, whose lead sees no signs of weakening. South: 10! It's been a while since a candidate was able to adequately capture the attention of both African-American voters and ultra-racist voters, but Cuomo is able to do it in this incredible mystery ad. California: 1! But then he ran the same ad in California???? Come on, it's about Latinos and Elitists there, not African-Americans and racists. McGobno: 6. A few new voters are reached, but not much changes. Overall: +1. The smallest possible good turn, but a good turn nonetheless. Kentucky: (8,6,6). Traficant's tours go well, and the Democrats of the state appreciate a candidate who is willing to come through and talk about protectionism. Overall: +5. A solid week in Kentucky, will it be enough to hand Traficant delegates?
  22. Honestly... Map seems pretty accurate to what I'd expect.
