Ingersoll checks all the boxes to be automatically confirmed as Senior Admiral.

Harrison is only a level 2 in military though, so he'll go for a vote.

Random Events 1798 - 1800

Scandalous Office Holder:  Did you see the news? ______ resigned from his office almost as soon as the scandal was released to the press. At least ___ had the integrity to admit fault and step aside. We're told that __ won't retire from politics, however, which renders them only fit for appointed office.

EllsworthCPU Controversial MD Senator William Paca is forced to resign after voters learn of his plan to insert "Paca" into the beginning of every single word in the English language.  He remains in the game, but with a permanent -1 election penalty.

JayCPU appoints JayCPU John Henry as the new MD Senator.  Action to @10centjimmy to name a new Judicial Chair in the Senate, replacing Paca and to give Henry Senate Judicial experience.

MORE GENERAL EVENTS

Judicial Influence:  The more a justice learns about interpreting federal law, the more they often evolve from their philosophies they learned from service in a lower court.

FranklinCPU Jonathan Dayton manipulates HancockCPU Chief Justice Paul Brigham to become a Conservative.

Slave Rebellion: Yet another slave rebellion has emerged in the slave states. These have become even more common, stoking fears among the Southern aristocracy that slaves will take over their state. Slaveholders and their sympathizers blame abolitionists for fueling the violence, while the abolitionists argue that slavery is a crime against nature and God and, therefore, the violence is justified.

Domestic Stability falls by 1 (now at the lowest level, potential civil war!).  @10centjimmy South Carolina Governor Edward Rutledge gets -1 Gov, -1 Admin.  Action to @10centjimmy President Marshall to condemn or sympathize with the slaves and abolitionists.  There is a 40% chance we'll end up in a civil war during this term, and the game will automatically end in 10 years if the domestic stability meter doesn't rise between now and then.

A Series of Coal Mine Disasters:
The number of coal mine disasters are happening so frequently this year that more and more labor activists are protesting outside of the White House than usual.  No impact.

Marshall condemns the Rebellion and prays for any sort of domestic stability bonus that exists

@10centjimmy Taking the kid trick or treating.  I want to incorporate @vcczar's new Scripted Events tab (with the new EV bonuses/penalties) this round, but I need to remove the events that we've already done.  Feel free to take that on if you have time, otherwise I'll get it done either late tonight or tomorrow.

I've got several more to go. I've got like 45 more states to go through for 1868-2020 population movement. This does not include ahistorical state or future population movements.

Yep, but we’re only in 1798 so no need to rush on this playtest’s behalf. Haha

1. JAY Treaty: option B: Refuse to sign a treaty with the records

2. Hopewell: option a: need to have the treaty to settle west

3. STANWIX: option a: make peace to settle Pennsylvania

Also caught up with committee experience

@vcczar:  President Marshall refused to sign the Treaty With UK (Jay Treaty), which would have granted US rights to MI, IN, IL, and WI.  Does that mean they're permanently cut off, or are there non-treaty ways to gain them?

We ran into this with Arnold and the NW War. I think we said it was a 3 strike policy to gain access to states/Territories?

1798 Scripted Events

Pennsylvania Legislature abolishes slavery --  The influence of several leading Quakers has compelled Pennsylvania to abolish slavery.

Treaty with UK (Jay Treaty -- Attempt Two):  British diplomat William Grenville is receptive to terms to avert another war and to strengthen ties with our future mother country. We can expect that the British will vacate forts in US territory in exchange for us taking part in an anti--French maritime policy. We will also gain limited trade rights in the British West Indies in exchange for us granting Britain "Most Favored Nation" trading status. Most economists and merchants, and those fearing a new war against Great Britian, support this treaty. However, those wishing to hold on to our old French alliance, or whom believe the treaty tilts in favor of Britain, or whom are outraged that the treaty will not guarantee an end of British impressment of US sailors are livid with the idea of this treaty. We can't avoid upsetting some of our citizens, whatever we do, but we could avoid a war, even if the treaty appears to be lopsided.

Action to @10centjimmy President Marshall to choose a response.

Haitian Revolution:  The Haitian Revolution puts us in a conundrum. On one hand, we like the idea of a European power, namely France, losing territory in our hemisphere. On the other hand, endorsing a revolution led by slaves is likely to upset slaveholders and possibly lead to a similar revolution in the Southern states.

First US Life Insurance Policy Issued:  A company in Charleston, South Carolina has created a framework for life insurance.

French Revolution Quelled with Bourbons Restored!:  The French Revolution has come to an end as a British-Austrian coalition has stormed and conquered Paris. The leaders of the Revolution have been rounded up, and the new King Louis is on his way from exile to take the throne.

Typewriter Invented In Italy:
An obscure Italian inventor named Pellegrino Turri has invented a typewriter, designed to help his blind patron write letters. Some argue that the typewriter should be distributed among those with barely legible handwriting.
