1892 Conventions:

Republicans (60% needed): VP Arthur Brackett Reed was the first, and most obvious candidate to announce. The Former Speaker replaced Fmr. VP Arthur after his death, and is a powerful voice in backroom politics. However another powerful voice and leader of the moderate would announce his intention to run for an unprecedented time, Fmr. two term Pres. James G. Blaine. Gen. Henry Cabot Lodge would announce his intention to run for the more imperialist front, stating a need for a massive expansion of the army coming off the industrial revolution. Former VP Abraham Lincoln's Son IL Sen. Robert Todd Lincoln would also announce his intention to run, Strongly civil rights and the most progressive of all Republican candidates, Lincoln would look to bring the party to the future. Initial endorsement discussions would kick off before the first ballot, With Tammany Hall still being a dominant force, Railroad Corporations, and Pres. Depew holding out until now. A surprising person to sit out this election is Progressive voice and former challenger to Depew, NY Gov. Frederick D Grant - Grant would throw his support immediately to Lincoln. The second pre first ballot endorsement would come from Railroad Corporations, Throwing their support to VP Reed. There where discussion beginning between Blaine and Depew on a possible endorsement, Much to the dismay of VP Reed.  However he would remain on the fence for the first round ballot. The first round ballot results where as follows: Reed (30%), Blaine (29%), Lincoln (15%), Lodge (8%) with the rest, a large amount, undecided. Depew now also had some sway over Tammany hall, So the thought was the endorsement of the two would follow each other. Reed and Depew would get into a heated argument, With Depew calling Reed week and said he only made him VP because he was "made to". Depew and Tammany Hall would do just that - Endorse Former President Blaine, The Former President vying for his 3rd very inconsecutive term. Last serving in 1879, 13 years ago. The second ballot would be a wash: Blaine (67%), Reed (15%), Lincoln (10%), Lodge (8%). Wanting to bring Moderates and Conservatives together, Blaine would choose General Lodge as his VP. The ticket would be former 2 term Pres. James G. Blaine/Gen. Henry Cabot Lodge.

Democrats (51% needed): The Democrats are at a crossroads with an identity crisis. The Candidates would be Moderate PA. Governor Robert Pattinson, MD. Gov. and party favorite Arthur P. Gorman, Populist Iowa Governor Horace Bois, and last elections nominee, Ultra-Conservative John Brown Gordon. Pattinson and Gorman came into the convention as moderate "re direction candidates" though both agreed civil and womens rights should remain to the states, Otherwise they where quite moderate, a huge turn from Former VP and last elections nominee Gordon. Gordon would preach how important conservative values where for the future of the US. He spewed hateful rhetoric that would get former CSA states excited, but did not do much else for the convention. Party bosses realized nominating Gordon last election was a mistake, and did everything they could to pull as much support away from him before the first ballot. Richard Croker and Thomas Taggart would be the two names people where listening to of who they would recommend for President, Crokers and Taggarts plan was to completely redesign and relaunch the Democratic Party for this election, and though they didn't endorse anyone the first ballot, They where very much leaning Arthur P. Gorman. First ballot results: Gorman (39%), Pattinson (22%), Bois (12%), Gordon (12%) with the rest undecided. The party bosses wanted to get the convention wrapped up as quickly as possible. And after coming to an agreement on a Gorman/Pattinson ticket - they would throw their support behind Gorman. Pattinson would withdraw. The 2nd and final round talley where as follows: Gorman (70%) Gordon (20%), Bois (10%). The ticket would be MD. Gov. Arthur P. Gorman/ PA Gov. Robert Pattinson

1892: A Deadlocked Election! Populists come storming in! With Democrats suffering years of defeat in Congress, Blaine and Gorman come to an agreement. Both Tammany hall style candidates agree they should stick together, in a first ever happening - There is a Unity Ticket. The party bosses of both parties get what they want, After a Populist surge. Former President Blaine wins his THIRD term, selecting Gov. Gorman as his VP! The Presidency is: Pres. James G. Blaine (R)/ VP Arthur P. Gorman (D)  (Watcher votes are protest votes - with no fully pro civil + women's rights candidate)

Blaine 3rd (inconsecutive) term score: 7/100- An economic crash happens in the US like is never seen before, The Pullman Strike, Coxey's army, The Panic, all happen as did irl. Populists surge in both parties in Congress, seeing a takeover and surge like never before. Workers rights comes at the for front - rationing happens across America. After one of the most divided, corrupt elections the country has ever seen - It is at a breaking point, A man from Nebraska is speaking of a cross of gold...

Realizing his time in politics is up, Blaine would NOT run for a 4th term.

1896 Conventions:

The Parties: There would be a reckoning of political parties for the 1896 Presidential election, With 4 distinct political parties. There would be no conventions as all parties would be new in a way, and have pre selected candidates.

Unity (R/D): The Unity Party would be a combination of pro business Democratic and Republicans, and those of Tammany Hall, Which was exactly what Pres. Blaine (REP) and VP Gorman (DEM) are. With Blaine not running for a 4th term, Party bosses would go and decide who the best prospects to be the Pres. and VP where, and also who would be the top of the ticket. Though there was ton of pushback from Democrats, With Republicans dominating big business more (and being the party many where blaming for the downfall of the economy with the incumbent President being a Republican) Republicans would argue this is under a new banner, so it doesn't matter. For the top of the ticket Republicans would select Powerful backroom politician and party boss PA Sen. Mathew Quay. For the Democrat VP the Unity Party would select NJ Senator Grover Cleveland. PA Sen. Quay (R)/NJ Sen. Cleveland (D)

Farmer-Populist: Growing off of partially the Labor movement, and partially the pro silver movement the Farmer Populist Party is founded off of the continually powerful Populist Party, with some slightly more socially progressive views. The Leader and founder of this United Front is nominee for Pres. NE. Gov. William Jennings Bryan. Bryan would make a surprising pick for VP, Wealthy Pro Labor Newspaper Mogul William Randolph Hearst. NE Gov. Bryan/Mr. Hearst

States RightsThe States Rights Party would form because of a stated "Diversion from Traditional America". They would get a Juggernaut at the head of their Party though Farmer-Populist leader Bryan was a supporter of States Rights, Former VP. and Dem. Nominee MO. Sen. John Brown Gordon, The most powerful ultra-conservative in the country. He would choose GA. Rep. Thomas E. Watson. Fmr. VP Gordon/GA Rep. Watson

Workers United: Finally, The unprecedented fourth major party to run would be the new Workers United Party. A left-wing labor focused party, Lead by the leading voice for workers across America, IN. Gov. Eugene V. Debs. Debs would choose Journalist Victor L. Berger as his VP nominee. IN. Gov. Debs/Mr. Berger

1896: For the 2nd election in a row - the electoral college is deadlocked! Even though Bryan received the most popular vote, he comes in 3rd for the electoral college, Making many Farmer-Labor party members calling the electoral college "The upholder of corruption". The States Rights Party destroys the chances of the Farmer-Populist Party, With the Workers United Party also taking voters away from Bryan. The Unity Party (Dems + Reps) Still hold a majority in Congress, meaning PA Sen. Mathew Quay (R) is elected President, and NJ Senator Grover Cleveland (D) is elected Vice President!

Quay first term score: 51/100 - Increase in industrialization and victory in the Spanish American War basically save Quay's Presidency. With Midterm victories for Democrats and Republicans and the Unity Coalition remaining a majority in Congress, Populism is still in massive surge as Workers Rights continued to be shut down, With many mass protests and revolts at factories across the country,  Quay uses the iron fist of the army to shut down these protests. On Women's suffrage the party would agree it was a state issue.

Pres. Quay (R) and VP Cleveland (D) WILL run for a 2nd term together, under a Unity ticket once again.

For the 2nd presidential term in a row, a Republican is a President, While a Democrat holds VP.

The house going into the next president election:

Unity Coalition 200 seats (maj)

Farmers Populist 120 seats

States Rights 20 seats

Workers United 7 seats

The Farmers Populist Party is the most powerful single party in the nation, but can not overcome the coalition of Republicans and Democrats.

1900 Conventions: As with last conventions, these where all but immediately decided.  However there would be one major thing to note: Eugene Debs and Workers United would not stand for the election, Stating how much of a danger the States Rights Party where. Paving the way for Farmers-Populist to gain more traction, but not an outright endorsement.

Unity (R/D): There would be no change in this parties nominees. Pres. Mathew S. Quay (R)/ VP Grover Cleveland (D)

Farmers Populist: There would be some initial ramblings if William Jennings Bryan should be the nominee yet again, His former VP selection William Randolph Hearst shockingly won a NYC House Race in an upset in the midterms. Bryan thought he could not turn having Hearst down as his VP nominee again either, With now a possible huge boost to NY. NE Gov. William Jennings Bryan/ Newspaper Mogul & NY Rep. William Randolph Hearst

States Rights: Wanting a change with Fmr. VP John Brown Gordon still being the head of the party, He would select Former Confederate General and MO Sen. Francis Cockrell as the Pres. NomineeGA Rep. Watson would be selected as the VP nominee again. Fmr. Con. Gen. & MO Sen. Cockrell/ GA Rep. Watson
