  1. This contest is great- the guy gets plus 3 in Cali but then -1 everywhere else, just for attacking a rival. It must have been quite the bad attack.
  2. Interesting - you might end up with a weak cpu nominee but maybe that’s the chance you’re willing to make.
  3. I'll re-think my second round moves, I want to see how things go this round.
  4. Ok, now back to this one. I love it. Every candidate starts at +3 in Florida, lol.
  5. Vice President Clay will give a speech in Arlington Virginia. Clay will campaign in the Upper South (his home region) and we'll use "incumbents using the power of their office" as well.
  6. Well, this play test was a nice break from the chaos of 1948. I can't believe Eric runs two of these things but having two open, close elections going on at the same time sure is exciting.
  7. 1824 Pottery Barn Platform: Domestic: Amendment's Require 2/3 Majority of States Approval for Ratification "Amendment" Economic: Establish the Bank of the United States Foreign : Increase the size of the navy Judicial: Establish Judicial Review Amendment Executive: Extensively Tour America's Leading Port Cities
  8. No going out of business sales at the Pottery Barn- let's keep Wood-Clay.
  9. It's an odd election. First one of a new era. Incumbent President has a bad economy but things were bad when we started so at least he didn't start the crisis. Red starts with NY, NJ, CT and SC in their column. It was probably going to be an easy Red election but then @dkh64 went and nominated the strongest possible Blue ticket. I thought you guys became the favorite after your VP pick, but who knows. It's tough when you start down a bunch of key states. Plus my guy has integrity.
  10. So the Red Party hasn’t had a human player win a Presidential election since Taft? lol. Wow. The wild thing is- these eras are reasonable friendly to the Red Party.
  11. I'll just add- aren't our two primaries a perfect representation of our respective Parties? Your Party is having a wild primary where 4 experienced play testers are fighting it out (somehow a CPU is keeping up which might tell you something about Moynihan's potential). Everyone in your primary deserves to be there- they're all super qualified and strong candidates (even the unemployed Shapp is a former 3 term PA Gov in this play test). Meanwhile the Red Party nominated a guy with no experience, from a foreign country, who was on career track 4 years ago. The poor Red Party in this play test has been a mess for a long time. Who knows, if we win now, with our strong majorities Congress, maybe we can turn it around. Unlikely but possible.
  12. That's funny. Yeah it's a tribute to career track, master kingmakers and their +1 bonus nationally and holding the media card.
  13. A couple of interesting notes: 1) If DJ's guy wins, we'll have the two main candidates for President being from Montana which would be wild. 2) If Jnewt's Turner wins we'll have 1 faction hold the Presidency for 3 straight terms (not Jefferson territory but still very impressive if your goal is to run things). Plus we'll have gone from a 2 term President of 1 faction to a new President of that same faction- not sure that's happened. 3) If Moynihan wins we'll have a CPU win a major party nomination in a multi player play test- is that the first time that's happened? 4) If Milton Shapp wins we'll have minor candidate win a nomination for the first time (at least without any major wheeling and dealing happening). 5) If Stan Stephens wins the Presidency, we'll have our first foreign born President. Either way this is getting interesting. Looking things over you could make a case for any of the 4 Dems winning the nomination. I've learned to not bet against Jnewt with these kinds of contests but DJ and Jimmy are two of the smartest play testers two so who knows. The funny part is, if y'all let it happen, the CPU could steal this play test because if Moynihan gets the momentum going into the next round, being a mod, he could win it which would be comical- a team with the best play testers in this and a CPU could steal it.
  14. Our man from Canada offers James Baker the Sec of Defense position if DKH's guy drops out and endorses (since Scranton is no longer in the contest, no point in keeping this going). Meanwhile Stephens like many Canadians will spend March in Florida, campaigning and focusing on local issues (assuming my quick glance is correct and Florida borders on cons)
  15. The funny thing is- Moynihan could do well this round but because of the CPU endorsement rules, he might not even compete.
  16. I appreciate that you include the rules with this sort thing. Let's have the debate- not worth the chance for losing enthusiasm.
  17. Thanks, keep Scranton in- he'll probably retire if he loses anyway.
  18. Predictions on the Dem Primary? I still think it's Turner but I am not so sure any more. Any of them could win it. It's great seeing an open primary where deals didn't decide it (we actually didn't cut a single deal in ours, Stephens was just way stronger than I think we expected).
  19. lol I thought he had to quit but hey, I am not going to argue with an answer I like so let's keep him in it. Thanks!
  20. Does Scranton have the choice to stay in the race? If so, he stays.
  21. Scranton (home state) campaigns in PA and focuses on local issues on PA. Our friend from Canada Stan Stephens: Campaigns in NJ (assuming there's no penalty for focusing on a state that doesn't border on your ideology), focus on local issues in Delaware (assuming I am correct and it's a mod state so there's no penalty for focusing on local issues there for a con candidate) and offers Castle's faction a top 4 cabinet post for his endorsement.
  22. Yeah I am just saying things still might get interesting in our Primary. No deals have been made but who knows.
  23. My money is on Turner but I agree there's is wide open. For the Red Party- I don't know, I've liked Scranton from day 1. Plus he'd par really well with some of our promising young pols in other factions.
  24. Yeah- I mean Turner is still the big favorite but it'll be interesting to see what Jimmy can do.
