Red3 Benjamin Franklin takes John Bayard as a protege.

Red4 Samuel Huntington takes Jonathan Trumbull Sr as a protege.

Blue3 Patrick Henry takes John Tyler Sr as a protege.

@10centjimmy if you're available, can you populate these three on the kingmaker protege sheet?

I think next is for me to assign cards, which will take a while.  Thanks!

@10centjimmy There is no continental congress until 1774, so we skip straight to appointing faction leaders and choosing faction names.  Also, let me know if your leader will be running for party leader as well.

I'll get this eventually. Since no one met all requirements, leadership got dropped, then lobby,  so I will still with Washington lol

There are no random deaths/retirements and no general events.  We skip straight to the Scripted Events.

1772-1774:

Gaspee Affair:
A group of Rhode Islanders, led by EllsworthCPU Abraham Whipple and John Brown, burn down a grounded British customs ship that had been enforcing the Navigation Act. These acts and taxation are unjust but such violence will only inflame a response. I fear a military response.

Only BooneCPU emerged unscathed!

Benjamin Franklin is Recognized as the Most Famous American:  Benjamin Franklin has long been a leading intellectual and has spent almost as much time in London and Paris as he has in Philadelphia, making Franklin the most recognized name in America. His inventions, scientific experiments, and publications have made his name immortal.

FranklinCPU Benjamin Franklin gains Celebrity.

Committees of Correspondence:  Samuel Adams, Joseph Warren, and Mercy Otis Warren of Massachusetts set up a Committee of Correspondence in response to the Gaspee Affair to coordinate colonial opposition to the British Parliament and advocate for colonial rights. Similar committees are expected to spring up elsewhere. We can only hope that such committees will be constructive and harmonizing.

BooneCPU +50

Tea Act:
In an effort to help the British East India Company, British Parliament has enacted a Tea Act, which is certainly going to hurt the port-city merchants in the American Colonies. Furthermore, those desiring representation in Parliament see this as yet another in a list of unjust taxation. This does not bode well. Parliament must be tone deaf! Taxation on Sugar, Stamps, and now tea? We don't even get a voice to object or accept this taxation!

PinckneyCPU -50

Boston Tea Party:
The Sons of Liberty of Massachusetts, led by Samuel Adams, board a merchant ship and dump the entire cargo of British East India tea into Boston harbor. Such marvelous boldness! It's difficult to know if this action by the Sons of Liberty will have been reckless or righteous. We can expect consequences by His Majesty King George III and his Parliament.

PaineCPU Samuel Adams gains celebrity.

Time to appoint Continental Congress delegates!

@10centjimmy you can nominate one candidate per slot.  Big states will have 4 spots, medium states will have 3 spots, and small states will have 2 spots. For the Era of Independence, PA, MA, VA, MD are big, while GA, RI, DE, and NH are small.

Note that these are "at large" elections, meaning that all Pennsylvania candidates are competing against all other Pennsylvania candidates.  Not like a House election, where you specify which district you're running in.

Plugged them into the sheet, but for posterity:

In 1772, Col. George Washington began his letter-writing campaign across the colonies, calling for moderation in the face of overwhelming oppression from His Majesty's Parliament. The Colonel's message reverberated throughout the continent, but especially in 4 colonies: Virginia, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.  "Washington's Moderates" was the moniker of the letter-writing brigade, granted by news journals from New England to the Upper South.  As calls came for a Continental Congress, Washington pushed several brilliant legal minds to raise their hands and join in the service of the colonies.

From Connecticut: William Samuel Johnson, Andrew Adams, and William 'Billy-Bill" Williams;

From Massachusetts: John Adams, Francis Dana, Nathaniel Gorham, and James "Howyadoin" Bowdoin;

From New York: Lewis Morris, Philip "Sky's-the-Limit" Schuyler, and Walter Livingston;

And of Old Dominion: Col. George Washington, Abner Nash, Edmund Pendleton, and Daniel Boone's cousin, Daniel Morgan.

Surely we can find a path to peace!

EllsworthCPU tries to relocate John Morton from overcrowded Pennsylvania to underpopulated Rhode Island.  Fails.

RandolphCPU tries to relocate Johann de Kalb from overcrowded Pennsylvania to underpopulated Delaware.  Fails.

No ideology shifts.

Oliver Ellsworth tries to convert PinckneyCPU Pierce Butler.  Fails.  Butler gains integrity.

John Hancock tries to convert RandolphCPU Mesech Weare -- and succeeds!

Will finish potential conversions tomorrow.

I've updated the player sheets.

@10centjimmy When you have time, can you create a Continental Congress page and update the history tab?

Welcome to 1774!

Time for relocating politicians, ideology shifts, politician conversions, and Kingmaker/protege pairings. @10centjimmy

No changes, moves, or conversions.

I'll start updating history and putting together a CC tab
