2.9.1 Presidential Primaries

@WVProgressive President Nikki Haley being passive fails to stifle and block any competition.

 Running for the Primaries:

@Murrman104 @jnewt @pman @DJBillyShakes @ShortKing @dkh64

Players are allowed to run up to 2 candidates:

  • A Major Candidate who is aiming to be the nominee.

  • And a Minor Candidate who is primarily aiming to influence the race, but will accept the nomination if it falls upon them.

The incumbent president, faction leaders, and candidates with their “celebrity” trait active are automatically major candidates. If a faction does not run one of these politicians for president, then they will only control a minor candidate as their one candidate hasn’t as much name recognition or power as a faction leader, president, or celebrity.

All candidates must have at least 1 command.

To run in the primaries, some offices require that the politician resign their office before running:

  • Any appointed office, such as general, admiral, cabinet, cabinet-level office, etc., with the exception of SC Justices and appointed Senators, both of which will resign their offices 25% of the time.

  • Any Senator or House officer (excluding committee chairs and committee members) will resign their officer position but keep their seat in the Senate or House.

  • 20% of the time, a Gov, US Senator, or US Rep will resign their seat to run.

  • The President and VP will never resign to run for president.

We will also start entering our incumbents that will be running for reelection for Gov, Rep and Senate Class III seats. Challengers will be submitted after the incumbents are entered.

Please announce your Presidential candidates by Sunday 10pm

Deadline for incumbents entered into the sheets will be Tuesday 4pm

@ebrk85

I know they aren't technically incumbents, but if we're the incumbent party in a race where either our incumbent is retiring or we're trying to replace them with someone younger, can we enter them in now just so everyone in our Party can see what we're doing and plan around it?

Yea I don't really care who is entered or not. We just lock in incumbents first so we can make adjustments to challengers knowing whos running or not.

Jay Inslee will run as a major candidate. We will also run a minor candidate, but I’m holding off on seeing who else announces before deciding on the minor candidate.

We'll bite- My faction runs Senator Cory Booker as a major candidate. We'll run Daniel Ige as a minor candidate.  We're in no way running Booker as a ploy to remove him as Faction Leader. Or to try to promote one of our young promising pols as the running mate. Those rumors are definitely not true. Being President in this playtest is so much fun, who wouldn't want to spend hours on cabinets and looking over legislation. Fun. Real Fun. No Sarcasm?

We'll run former Rep. Beto O'Rourke as a major candidate and Stacey Abrams as a minor candidate. Much like pman, these are very serious runs with no ulterior motives.

Determining a Candidate’s Strength:

@WVProgressive President Nikki Haley is running unopposed in the primary and will her party's nominee to try for a 2nd term.

Looking to take her on in the general on the Democratic side is:

@jnewt Fmr VP Jay Inslee= 11

@DJBillyShakes Fmr Rep Beto O'Rourke= 6

@pman Sen Cory Booker= 4

@jnewt TV Queen Oprah Winfrey=4

@DJBillyShakes Fmr GA State House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams= 0

@pman Fmr Gov David Ige= -3

VP Inslee looks to have a clear advantage over the field with Beto getting a small boost by being the only Moderate in a field of Liberals.  If Inslee can prevail, it would set up a rematch of the 2024 Presidential race.
