Free Agent Signings:

@matthewyoung123  @jnewt @Rezi @OrangeP47 and @ebrk85

Time to make offers for the following Free Agents. Let me know which team you wish to sign them to. You may bid on a player another owner bids for. The player will join the team that makes the best fit for them. The desired contracts are listed with their names, but you can offer more if you wish to outbid them. I'll let you know if a team can't offer a contract at the level they wish to sign the person for:

Free Agent QBs:

*Note: Red means they have a 25% chance of retiring after the end of the season, at which point they can be convinced to stay for a final season.

QBs Name Contract Rank Years Left
QB Hart, Jim A 1
QB Hipple, Eric B 2
QB Stabler, Ken A 1
QB Hebert, Bobby C 2
QB Stoudt, Cliff C 1
QB Dils, Steve C 1
QB Pagel, Mike C 2
QB Kemp, Jeff C 2
QB Thompson, Jack C 2
QB Brunner, Scott C 0
QB DeBerg, Steve B 3
QB Manning, Archie B 2

Position Name Contract Rank Years Left
MLB Mecklenburg, Karl C 2
CB Irvin, LeRoy B 3
ST Bates, Bill D 2
P Gossett, Jeff C 2
RB Brooks, James A 3
TE DuPree, Billy Joe B 2

I recommend that teams without a RB, TE, P, ST, CB, MLB, or servicable QBs make bids.

49'ers will sign RB Brooks, TE Dupree, and MLB Mecklenburg

Dolphins will attempt to sign Brooks, Mecklenburg, and Roy. We’ll offer them each a contract one above their asking price.

Raiders will offer Bates a D contract

Vikings will also offer Brooks an A contract

Free Agent Signings

  • QB Hart signs with Lions to attempt to battle with Danielson over the starting job.
  • QB Hipple signs with the Saints and will battle Williams over the starting job.
  • QBs Hebert and Manning will signs with the Bucs and battle for the starting job.
  • QB Stoudt signs with the Cardinals as a likely backup.
  • QB Dils signs with the Rams as a likely backup.
  • QB Pagel signs with the Eagles as a likely backup
  • QB Scott Brunner signs with the Bengals as a likely backup.
  • QB DeBerg signs with the Jets to battle with Todd over the starting job.
  • MLB Mecklenburg signs with the Dolphins, preferring B-contract with a rejuvenated team with a rookie of the year QB
  • CB LeRoy Irvin signs with the Redskins.
  • ST Bates signes with the Cowboys
  • P Gossett takes the insane B-contract for a Punter and will sign with the Eagles.
  • RB Brooks signs with the 49ers as he feels like he's a missing piece for a SB run.
  • TE DuPree also signs with the 49ers, as he hopes to retire soon with another SB victory.

QBs Stabler, Thompson, and Kemp will stay as free agents, and will also decrease their asking price by 1. They can't be signed until after the draft. If Stabler isn't picked up by the regular season, he will retire.

1984 NFL Draft Round A (representing the 1st round)

This is the draft order:

Bucs
Chiefs
Chargers
Patriots
49ers
Giants
Steelers

That is, @Rezi, then @matthewyoung123, then @Rezi, @matthewyoung123, then at @matthewyoung123 again, then @Rezi (what the heck!), then finally @jnewt

The A-Grade rookie options are:

WR Fryar, Irving
OLB Marshall, Wilbur
DT Millard, Keith
OLB Banks, Carl
T Alt, John
RB Bell, Greg
WR Lipps, Louis

Make sure you tag the next person once you've drafted.

So @Rezi can only choose between T Alt or WR Lipps for the Giants. He already has 2 WRS. He can have a 3rd, but that wouldn't be as effective as a T, of which he has none.

If Rezi takes Alt, then the Steelers will get WR Lipps (the historical draft pick for this team).

ROUND B (representing the 2nd round)

Saints and Giants get picks. @OrangeP47 is up next and whoever he doesn't pick goes to @jnewt as we only have 2 B grade draft picks. The Saints have two QBs, but Esiason might be better than those he has. If Saints take DE Jones, then Esiason would have to battle Simms for the starting job there.

Here are the options:

QB Esiason, Boomer

DE Jones, Sean
