  1. He shouldn't have run four years ago and the DNC shouldn't have rigged things so that he'd be the candidate
  2. How did all the theocrats end up in the "party of limited government"?
  3. Only if Trump isn't the nominee or there's someone else for the non-MAGA Republicans to vote for. Otherwise they'll hold their noses and vote for him again.
  4. As someone who lives in Austin Scott's district, I say he'd be a fine Speaker of the House for the Republicans
  5. I learned this back in Middle School. It was right before we learned about the Battles of Manassas and the Monitor & the Virginia.
  6. All right, look, there's only one "Return," okay, and it ain't "of the King," it's "of the Jedi."
  7. A removal vote is only successful if the Democrats vote for it.
  8. The world would be a better and safer place if nobody had a gun. However, since that genie is never going back in the bottle, it's better to err on the side of less government interference and more freedom.
  9. Oh please. Those people in the Middle East have been killing each other since long before the US existed and they're never going to stop. The US going in and doing some of the fighting for them isn't going to help. The US should have never given up their neutrality stance. Fuck Woodrow Wilson. Now, with the media completely in thrall to the military-industrial complex, we'll never stop fighting in other people's wars.
  10. Of course the GOP is only considering white men...
  11. I think this was a mistake by the Democrats. I virtually assures a government shutdown when the current CR expires and opens them up to blame for removing one of the few Republicans who might compromise. We'll be lucky to get a speaker by the time the CR expires.
  12. Trump's comments since the debate suggest he's most afraid of Haley
  13. There is not, in fact, a constitutional requirement for a senator to be alive...
  14. I don't give a damn what congresspersons wear to work. When I see a man wearing a coat and tie I know there is bullshit incoming. Nobody trustworthy dresses like that. They dress like that to project integrity that they can't generate on their own.
  15. He lost he with this interview https://www.memri.org/tv/former-us-senator-james-abourezk-hizbullah-tv-arabs-who-were-involved-911-cooperated-zionists
  16. They're gonna fight regardless of where the imaginary lines are drawn or who draws them. Same as it's always been and same as it is everywhere.
  17. Of course there is a God. Each person's perception of God is their own, shaped by their knowledge and experience.
  18. If someone became a congressman/senator after being president would it count under "Parties and elections" or "Rare kind of member"? I wouldn't necessarily consider Andrew Johnson's brief post-White House senate stint as noteworthy other than him being the only ex-president to have one. OTOH JQ Adams' house tenure was probably more significant than his presidency.
  19. I'd like it better if he wasn't hellbent on imposing them on everybody else
  20. It's easy to look like a great debater when you're twice as smart as anyone else on stage.
  21. I don't even know what Republicans stand for anymore, besides restricting abortion and drag shows. Their leading candidate is vowing the biggest tax increase in the country's history. None of them favor fewer federal restrictions on people's lives. What the heck is the GOP's core philosophy?
  22. Trump isn't avoiding being attacked by skipping the debate. They'll all still bash him. He is avoiding legitimizing the attacks by skipping the debate. A primary debate without the leading candidate is diminished and will serve to make the attendees seem like fringe candidates who are desperate for any attention they can get.
  23. Considering how revered he is, there's no way he could not be overrated. Leaving after two terms was probably for the best. It would have been nearly impossible to remain free from the rising political parties for another term. Washington as king would have ended the nation on his death. He had no children and outlived all of his siblings. It would have been an ugly succession crisis. Even if Martha became queen regnant it just kicks the can down the road a few years, as she outlived all her children from her first marriage and all her siblings as well.
  24. The Supreme Court shouldn't be a standing court at all. Every year randomly select one judge from each circuit. Those selected will serve as the Supreme Court for that year. When their term is over they return to their circuit. Once a judge serves on the SC they can't be chosen again for a few years. The court would have more consistency as judges would be far less likely to overturn established precedents and cases would be heard by a different panel than the one that granted certiorari, reducing partisan decisions.
  25. DeSantis is conservative? He's one of the worst Nanny State totalitarians.
