Whigs all support John P Hale for 188 votes

Dems all support Isham G Harris for 109 votes

Progressive five term Rep John P Hale of NH is elected Speaker. Hale loses Obscure, gains Legis+1.

(As a side note, I would support leadership races to 5 ballots or have the CPUs all support on the 4th.)

The Silver Whigs are now in charge of both chambers of Congress.

Pres Howell Cobb is the Democratic Party Leader. Cobb gains Command+1, Gov+1. Cons +1  Blue. Leadership cancels ideology drops.

Whig

Former VP James Speed receives the endorsements of Chief of Staff James W Nye and Admiral John C Fremont. Mr James F Briggs and Fmr RI Sen Henry B Anthony will challenge.

Ballot 1 (need 50%+1)

  • Anthony: 1+13=14
  • Speed: 4+16+15(2+13)+13(3+10)=38

James Speed is reelected Whig Party Leader. Gains Iron Fist, Unlikable. Mods +1 Red. Leadership cancels ideology drops. Party Pref +1 Red due to Charisma.
