“Awakening the True Unionist Spirit: The Launch of a Just Path Forward” - DUP Campaign Inauguration in Belfast

Ladies and Gentlemen, cherished citizens of Northern Ireland,

I stand before you today, amidst the resilient heart of Belfast, a city that has witnessed the unyielding spirit of our people through the annals of time. Today is not merely a campaign launch; it’s a clarion call to awaken the true unionist spirit that courses through the veins of every citizen of Northern Ireland!

The Democratic Unionist Party is not just a political entity; it’s the embodiment of a legacy, a legacy of standing unwavering against the storms of compromise that threatened to erode the very fabric of our union. Our resolve has been tested, our principles challenged, but here we stand, firm and undeterred, for we carry the mantle of your hopes, your aspirations, and the undying dream of a united, prosperous Northern Ireland!

In recent times, we've seen the tides of opportunism sweeping across our land. Parties like the UUP have veered off the path of true unionism, entangling themselves in alliances that dilute the essence of our struggle, our identity. They now stand as pale shadows of the unionist cause, swayed by fleeting political winds.

Our opposition seeks to paint us as obstructionists, but we are your protectors! When we stood against a protocol that threatened to sever our ties with our cherished union, we stood for justice, for fairness, for each one of you!

Today, we unfurl a plan that echoes the heartbeats of the countless souls who yearn for a harmonious, prosperous homeland. A plan that replaces the chains of a flawed protocol with the wings of a fair, equitable arrangement, securing a thriving future for our land while upholding the sacred union!

Our message resounds through the valleys, across the hills, reaching every hearth, every home that cherishes the unionist ethos. To the dedicated voters of the UUP, who feel the sting of betrayal, to the valiant supporters of the TUV, who carry the torch of uncompromising resilience - we extend our hands, inviting you to join us in this noble endeavor!

Now is the moment to rally under the banner of true unionism, to cast aside the veils of deception, to reject the seductive whispers of transient alliances! Now is the moment to affirm our unbreakable bond, to pledge allegiance to the cause that binds us, the cause that transcends fleeting political gambits!

Let the drums of a balanced, robust unionism reverberate across the land! Let the heavens bear witness to the unyielding resolve of the Democratic Unionist Party as we embark on this sacred journey towards reclaiming the honor, the dignity, and the prosperity that is rightfully ours!

We are the beacon of hope amidst a tempest of uncertainty, the steadfast guardians of a union that has weathered the storms of time! Stand with us, march with us, towards a horizon where the sun of justice, of unity, of prosperity rises to herald a new dawn for Northern Ireland!

Vote for the Democratic Unionist Party, vote for the future brimming with promise, vote for the indomitable spirit of Northern Ireland!

Thank you, and God bless our cherished homeland!

Event One: Enough is Enough

Jim Allister sat in his office, amused. He had just got off the phone with Nigel Farage. On the eve of the TUV launching its assembly campaign, who else would he talk to except the titan of British right-wing populism, and an expert on Irish issues at that? Jim knew the advice Nigel provided was sage, and he intended to implement it fully in his upcoming campaign. To come into its own, the TUV must step out of its role as an agitator, a fringe unionist sideshow. It must instead become the champion for the fed-up, the vanguard of the revolutionary conservative position on all matters, yet still centered on correcting the mistake of '98 and tearing down the undemocratic power-sharing system. Jim finally got up, prepared for the day to come.

North Antrim, TUV Campaign Launch:

"Ladies and gentlemen, the TUV is standing in this assembly election because there is a rot at the heart of Northern Irish politics. This rot is not limited to the contrived, undemocratic, and failed mandatory coalitions which have stoppered good government, or to the terrorists who for two decades have been allowed to stand in these elections. No, this rot is much deeper, and now threatens the very soul of Northern Ireland. This rot is found in the open border to our south, marking yet another of our capitulations to IRA terror. It is found in the erosion of Christian, family values, as Islamic fundamentalists pour across our open border and social experimenters attempt to rewrite the definitions of marriage and biological sex. This rot is discovered in the parties opposing our cause, be they faux unionists, anti-family liberals, or radical socialist terrorists. And finally, this rot is uncovered in the very document defining Northern Ireland's devolution, the wicked, terrorist-enabling, and failed Good Friday Agreement. Well, in tearing down this rot in our politics, the TUV recognizes the only solution is to tear this entire political system down! The TUV will bring the mandatory-coalition system to its knees with the fury of the voting public, and with the power of the ballot box, we will force a proper peace for Ireland which does not concede to terrorists and socialists. If you think Stormont has been dysfunctional these last few years, fear not, because the TUV will send Stormont crashing down, and from its ashes, we can forge a truly democratic system disallowing dangerous radicals. The TUV is the voice for those who have seen our broken system, our society's collapsing morals, an invasion of migrants, and deranged socialists and liberals, and who are ready to say enough is enough! Thank you!"TUFZMTQwMjkxMDk1.jpg.1f16a07f074363833dfa10ea3f6f5496.jpg

Traditional Unionist Voice Launch: [91/100] Uh oh. The unionists are angry. And Jim Allister, you have just tapped into it. In the day after your launch, unionist paramilitary groups march through Londonderry to quite a stir from the local republican population. You have successfully stirred the pot and shown that it isn't unionist against republican anymore - it's the TUV against everybody else. A successful launch is key to your strategy of being able to disrupt the DUP from the get-go. There is a long campaign from this point on, but you have staked your position and in so doing, made yourself a target.

The Alliance Party’s campaign is kicked off with a gathering in Belfast East, which Party Leader Naomi Long formerly represented as an MP. Dark yellow posters with the Alliance logo, and campaign slogans adorn the drab gray walls. ‘Step Up, Stand Together’, ‘Everyone Else Is Talking About The Union; We’re Talking About Unions’, and ‘Alliance: Government That Works For A Change’ being just a few examples. Alliance’s commitment to inter-community unity is succinctly visualized when the opening statements of the event are given by Naomi Long – a Protestant – and Stephen Farry – a Catholic.

“Our party rejects the divisive view that there are two Northern Irelands. We don’t believe in an Orange Ireland, or a Green Ireland. What we believe in is one Northern Ireland, where people are able to set aside their differences, and work together to improve society for everyone. That is why we are calling for the rule dictating that the first minister, and deputy first minister must come from either a republican, or unionist party. This broken system only allows division to fester, and impedes good governance.”

“Sinn Fein, and the DUP say that a vote Alliance is a wasted vote, we say that any vote not for Alliance is wasted. Sinn Fein, and the DUP have both proven themselves incapable of ruling, as evidenced by Stormont’s perpetual collapse. The Alliance party is uninterested in petty squabbles, or divisive sloganeering. What unites us is far greater than what divides us. We are all Christian. We all pray for our children to inherit a better world than we did. We all need a roof over our head, education for our children, healthcare when we’re sick, and an affordable cost of living. We’re the only party talking about the everyday issues affecting everyone in Northern Ireland.”

“We are calling on all of Northern Ireland to reject the lie of division, and to join arms in the march towards a better future. A future where children are not maimed by paramilitary brutes. A future where we celebrate our diversity. A future where no one must suffer through poverty. That kind of future needs leadership, and Alliance is the only party interested in actual leadership. Vote for the future you want, vote for Alliance.”

Alliance Party Launch: [61/100] The launch of the Alliance Party goes off without a hitch. There are no screaming unionists or republicans coming in to disrupt the proceedings in Belfast. In fact, it feels rather matter of fact. The campaign is launched, and everyone gets off the stage. It's not flashy, but you don't need flashy. Alliance benefits more greatly from a slow and steady approach, something that you have started. It's just whether or not you can emerge from the campaign unscathed - possibly with angry unionists dominating the storylines.

Doug Beattie Announces UUP Campaign Effort in Upper Bann.

"Ladies and gentlemen, people of Northern Ireland. Today we begin the effort to ensure that Unionism, positive, unifying unionism doesn't fall dead in its tracks. The last few years have been a chaotic time for Northern Ireland. But under my leadership, I promised you that we would form a party that reaches all voters. Of any religion, creed, sexuality, or philosophy. I am still committed to that promise. I come into this election issuing a grave warning to you all: If we fail to stop Sinn Fein, unionism may be dead in its tracks. The 2023 local elections were a tough lesson. However, there is also significant blame to place on some of our fellow unionists. The DUP, with its harebrained leadership over the last couple of years, has led to the crisis we find ourselves in today. I'm calling on voters across the entire political spectrum: Reject demagoguery and division, reject harebrained antics, reject opportunist parties who take no stance on the defining issues of Northern Ireland, vote for principled Unionist leadership, vote for positive unionism, VOTE UUP!"

Ulster Unionist Party Launch: [42/100] There wasn't anything wrong with what you said, Mr. Beattie. In fact, it was a decent enough launch, hitting the right notes to keep the kinds of unionist voters that you already have under your tent. But the whispers are there - it's a launch worthy of another 4th place. Of the status quo, of continuance. You may be energized and ready for this campaign, but your party is not. The launch was largely overshadowed by the TUV's a few days earlier, and your launch has served as an implicit backhand at Jim Allister. That in itself may serve you fine, but much remains to be seen.

Michelle O'Neill opens Sinn Fein campaign in Craighavon

"I'm honored to have the opportunity to be here with all of you today. As you all know very well, the people of Northern Ireland have continually handed Sinn Fein a clear and concise mandate to govern our province. But that doesn't matter to the unionists in this country! They would rather sit down and deny the will of the people than come to the table in good faith. And frankly, it's embarrassing to the people of our nation! They couldn't deal with the mandate we were given, so they threw a hissy fit and let Stormont remain in shambles. The English are laughing at us as the good people of Northern Ireland attempt to strike each other down rather than band together as a people of one history, one culture. We can not let this happen! We can not let our nation be embarrassed, we can not let our culture be erased, we must fight, and we must win! Right now, Sinn Fein is the only party that is truly fighting for a better future for Ireland. And the people know it! twenty-nine percent, thirty-one percent, these have been our best results ever. But you know what? It's not enough. We need a bigger mandate, an even clearer mandate! We can make history this year, Ireland. And you know what? I think it's about time. Vote for a Sinn Fein that understands the past while moving towards the future, a Sinn Fein that stands for every Irish man, woman, and child. A Sinn Fein that wants to govern this as a serious country! Vote for Ireland, vote for Sinn Fein!"

Confession time. Lads, I fancy Michelle O'Neill. There I said it. I fundamentally disagree with nearly everything Sinn Fein are about but....these are the facts. I think she's just lovely. : r/ireland

Sinn Fein Launch: [18/100] Ms. O'Neill, your launch was going swimmingly. Until...the one history, one culture line. Grimaces in the crowd were enough to let you know that the damage had sunk in. Even though you kept going quickly, it was enough to stick in everyone's minds. Ardent republicans claim that there is not one culture in Northern Ireland, but two. There isn't one history, but two. The unionists that encroached from London, and the Irish that were there before. Now, you couldn't have foreseen this becoming an issue, but some lip service to the firebrands may be in order.

Democratic Unionist Party Launch: [32/100] Mr. Donaldson, you clearly tried to stake out the unionist ground before the campaign had begun - normal for a DUP politician, of course. Your entreaties to both UUP and TUV voters is a typical one for the DUP, but usually those kinds of words are best kept in the planning meetings and not in public. The incident in Londonderry earlier this week has cast unionists in a negative light and many moderates are loath to be counted among the same group as the TUV and their paramilitary allies. Republicans are beyond nervous, and Westminster is watching with a careful eye. It may be best to turn the guns on the TUV before they get much bigger and supplant you in the same manner you supplanted the UUP.

@Fbarbarossa SDLP Launch: [6/100] Whether or not the SDLP officially launched their campaign was anybody's guess. There was a speech, to be sure, but there wasn't many who deigned to show up. They sort of just stumbled straight through into the campaign, whether or not anyone was really paying attention was anyone's guess.

Starting Momentum: -4

Note: Points were strictly based off rolls. Since the SDLP had no events, they automatically got the lowest score amongst the numbers. The others went in order from first launch to last launch otherwise. The advice/commentary afterwards was solely for flavor and was not actually determined to be a grade of the launch, just fitting the roll how best I could. There will be a turn update with polling and an official turn one soon.

Event One: Find a Life with the Traditional Unionist Brigade

Jim Allister knew the TUV could only succeed in its mission to break Stormont with the triumphing will of the Northern Irish voter. Jim also recognized that this will would only be unlocked with a fine-tuned, powerful organization in the streets during the weeks leading up to the assembly elections, inspiring unionists to throw off the chains of the wicked Good Friday Agreement and vanquish the Fenians once and for all. With all this in mind, Allister knew exactly how to build ground support for the TUV during the party's assembly campaign, calling on that vast reserve of fed-up, angry young men to defend Ulster from the onslaught of socialism and liberal degeneracy destroying it. Soon enough, after orders flowed through the party machinery, Allister's little army was assembled.

TUV Launches 'Traditional Unionist Brigade' with March in North Antrim, New Organization Pledges to Defend "Faith, King, and Country"

Allister smiled and clapped from the sidewalk as he watched his Brigade-men troop along, waving Union Jacks and singing old unionist tunes. This was by no means some return to the hyper-paramilitarization of The Troubles, as none of the Brigade members marched with weapons. However, they did march in military formation, and soon enough, Allister knew that chapters of the group would be launching across Northern Ireland, forming under the broad commission to organize on behalf of the TUV and against the Fenians, socialists, liberals, terrorists, and every other brand of wretched soul infecting Ulster. The Brigade would protest and disrupt Sinn Fein's events, canvass and march on behalf of their parent party, and serve as a social bulwark against degeneracy and Islamism in their communities. Suddenly, out of the assembled Brigade, a young man clad in all-black and sporting a shaven head would yell, "Christ is king, and we'll make those Fenian heads ring!" As his fellow Brigade-men yelped and hollered in affirmation, Allister's grin grew, as he saw the makings of a true force in Northern Irish politics. 71ab29fe-967b-11ed-b6da-0210609a3fe2.jpg.4b038ba4c5c3ce39aa2588c3179b7394.jpg

Event Two: No Quarter to Terrorists

Jim Allister will campaign in Strangford, holding a rally promising to bar Sinn Fein from elections in a hypothetical post-Good Friday Northern Ireland. "I ask you this: Why should a party with deep roots in the terrorism of the IRA, which despises our country, its ideals, and our King, be allowed to hold power? Why should an openly socialist organization, espousing an ideology responsible for millions of deaths abroad, be permitted to experiment with its failed ideology on Northern Ireland? Let me promise this: Once the TUV's struggle against Stormont has succeeded, with the broken mandatory coalition system discarded and the Good Friday Agreement cast away, Northern Ireland will throw Sinn Fein out of this land. Put simply, we will provide no quarter to terrorists!"

Event Three: Alliance for Doom

Allister will hit South Antrim, launching into a tirade against the Alliance Party while in a townhall. "Alliance lulls voters into this delusion that by sitting on the fence, they can disrupt our wicked mandatory coalition system. Put frankly, Alliance's supporters are laboring under a delusion which threatens the very future of Northern Ireland. As we speak, Fenian terrorists are allowed to parade in our elections and devolved government, degrading our society just as they bombed it in the '80s. Right now, liberal social engineering controls our schools and public life, as it's no longer permitted to speak the true definitions of marriage and sex, or to challenge the invasion of Muslims overrunning our communities. And since time immemorial, it's been declared a pipe dream to attack the root cause of these issues, the failed Good Friday Agreement, and to propose a definitive path towards proper democracy and good government in Northern Ireland. Yet, in response to all these existential threats, Alliance believes we should all just get along and be friends! That we should forgive the people who terrorized our communities and still seek to destroy them, and who hate our British nation and Christian faith. That we should forget the betrayal of '98 and simply lay down as Muslims take over our nation. The Alliance Party is merely a mirage, a false escape from our broken system! It is an alliance for doom, marching in lockstep with all the other corrupt parties leading Northern Ireland to destruction! The only true means of breaking our undemocratic Stormont system are through supporting the TUV! Because we aren't afraid to say we're unionist, that we are British, and that we love our King! We are not afraid to fly the Union Jack above our heads, to fight back against socialism and Fenianism, and to defend our faith, communities, and country! Vote for the TUV this January, because unlike the Alliance Party, we're proud to take a stand on behalf of Northern Ireland!"

Event One: Peace and Prosperity

Nothing about this was coincidental. Of course Farry, himself a person who had at one time been targeted by the paramilitaries, would be chosen to give the speech. And of course South Antrim, the stomping grounds of the Ulster Defense Association, would be the chosen venue. Farry looked out over the banks of the old Six Mile one last time, the cold Autumn air nipping at his skin, and let the moment fill him with a sense of duty before turning back to the crowd, and beginning his speech.

“The Alliance Party believes in prosperity, but in order for there to be prosperity there must be peace, and for peace to return to our streets, we must confront the terror that is paramilitarism head on. Especially with Jim Allister – no stranger to terroristic activities given his founding role in Ulster Resistance – filling the street with his brownshir- blackshirts, excuse me, fighting paramilitarism has never been a more pressing issue. How we’re not going to fight the paramilitaries, is by establishing diplock courts, or trampling our civil liberties, as some parties suggest. Never again should our communities have to live under the tyrannical rule of the RUC. The opposite of terror is not oppression, for oppression only empowers terror. No, instead the opposite of terror, is freedom, and that is how we fight terror. When we empower our citizens, and defend their civil rights; when we fight poverty through the use of pragmatic economic principles, and a compassionate social safety net; when we adequately fund our police force while protecting civil liberties – all the weapons of terror shall fall silent. For when people are truly free – free from oppression, want, or fear – the glorified gangs which are the paramilitaries shall have nothing to offer them. We must also delegitimize the radical ideologies which feed into these paramilitaries, whether that be the radical unionism of the TUV, or the radical republicanism of parts of Sinn Feinn. That’s the Northern Ireland the Alliance Party is fighting for, and if anyone wishes to debate us in a calm, respectful manner, we warmly invite them to do so. But if any cowardly bastard thinks that violence for political ends is acceptable, I say to you ‘Bring it on!’ and show the whole world your cowardice!”

Event Two: Stability, Leadership, Community

Naomi Long puts leather to pavement in canvassing Belfast South, taking the attack to Sinn Fein, and the DUP.

“Just last year we said that Sinn Fein, and the DUP were addicted to crisis, and conflict – unfortunately they have done nothing to prove us wrong.”

“The Alliance Party is dedicated to helping addicts recover, and become productive members of society – including Sinn Fein, and the DUP!”

“Vote for Alliance in January, or you’ll be voting again in May.”

Event Three: We Are All Christians

The Alliance Party will let the clergy (and the cameras) into their North Down regional headquarters for a Pan-Christian Saturday Brunch. The PCSB will gather Christian ministers of every denomination from all across Northern Ireland under one roof in a show of unity. The hope is that, if the event goes off without a hitch, then the Alliance Party’s non-sectarian ideology will be validated. Alliance Party elder statesman David Alderdice will serve as the event’s host, and open the event with a short speech.

“I’d like to take a moment to thank each, and every one of you for attending this event, which I hope fosters a sense of profound unity, and brotherhood within all of us. The Alliance Party believes in one simple truth: What unites us is more important than what divides us. Nothing makes that fact clearer than our shared Christian faith. Yes, some of us are Catholics, some of us are Protestants, but we what we agree on is far more important than any doctrinal differences. We all believe that our lord, and savior Jesus Christ died so that our sins may be forgiven, and that He commands us to work with our fellow man to improve our communities. I’d like to share my favorite passage form the bible, and then I’ll allow our leading ministers to say grace. ‘If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, but you shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be. Take care lest there be an unworthy thought in your heart and you say, ‘The seventh year, the year of release is near,’ and your eye look grudgingly on your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he cry to the Lord against you, and you be guilty of sin. You shall give to him freely, and your heart shall not be grudging when you give to him, because for this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake. For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’ Amen, thank you.”

Event One: Outreach to the Irish Diaspora

Michelle O'Neill announces a new initiative to engage the Irish diaspora worldwide. With the aim of strengthening their ties to the Irish abroad, Sinn Fein is launching a global outreach campaign, inviting individuals of Irish descent to become honorary members and supporters of the party. Sinn Fein is well aware of the influence the diaspora can have on shaping perceptions of Northern Ireland and Ireland as a whole. This initiative is not meant to be antagonistic but is a strategic move to counterbalance the influence of certain factions seeking to disrupt peace and progress in Northern Ireland. By fostering a sense of unity and a shared Irish identity among the global Irish community, Sinn Fein aims to build international support for their vision of a united and progressive Ireland.

Event Two: Transparency and Accountability

Michelle O'Neill announces that Sinn Fein would implement a comprehensive plan for transparency and accountability in government. Addressing a crowd in Londonderry, she declared her party's commitment to eradicating corruption and ensuring that the government serves the people.

"We understand that trust in government has been eroded over the years due to allegations of corruption and misconduct. Sinn Fein is taking a stand against this. We are committed to the highest standards of transparency and accountability in our government. We will implement measures to prevent corruption and ensure that the public's trust is not only restored but strengthened. The people of Ireland deserve a government that is accountable to them, and we are determined to deliver that."

Event Three: A New Path for Northern Ireland

In a spirited campaign event in Belfast, Michelle O'Neill directed her criticism towards the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) while emphasizing Sinn Fein's commitment to a different path for Northern Ireland.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it's no secret that we have our differences with the DUP, but it's time for a new path for our beloved Northern Ireland. For too long, we have seen a government held hostage by stalemates, division, and intransigence. The DUP's insistence on clinging to the past and their reluctance to embrace a shared future have held us back. But Sinn Fein is ready to move forward. We believe in a government that represents the diverse voices of our society, a government that prioritizes progress over stagnation. The DUP's constant rejection of compromise has hindered our progress, and it's time for a change. We invite all those who seek a brighter future for Northern Ireland to join us in this journey towards unity, equality, and prosperity. Let us put the past behind us and forge a new path that leads to a better Northern Ireland for all."
