"I Think Something's The Matter With Ted," - A 1772 Playthrough

Yes, unless you’re able to reprogram PV without it.  When I deleted it it could no longer calculate PV.

I think I've got it figured out now. The MASTER sheet is all wonky, since the new statesman cells include "White", "Straight", and the "Total Interests". Those haven't been captured in MASTER yet.

There's definitely a joke in there somewhere.

I hid them because they're the default and never referenced/needed in the game, so it would make looking for something in the player sheets more manageable.  But we can unhide them if that helps at all.

Heck, we can even delete them (not total interests though, the PV formula uses that) if that's helpful.

I've updated everyone's sheets accordingly.

@OrangeP47 @Murrman104 @10centjimmy @Ich_bin_Tyler

Action to everyone to name your new faction leaders!  (Most of you can probably keep yours, but I imagine @OrangeP47 in particular will have to change his because he changed faction ideologies.)

I also imagine most of you are asleep, so I'll do the CPU teams for this.

@Murrman104 has to keep Continental Congressman Samuel Adams.  Adams gains Manipulative and Crisis Manager.

@10centjimmy has to keep George Clinton.  Clinton gains Charismatic.

JohnDickinsonCPU has to keep Continental Congressman John Hancock.  Hancock gains Charismatic, Disharmonious.

PatrickHenryCPU has to keep Continental Congressman John Sevier.  Sevier gains Disharmonious.

TomJeffersonCPU chooses to keep Thomas Jefferson.  Jefferson loses obscure.

@OrangeP47 You have to drop George Wythe.  You can choose Continental Congressman Francis Hopkinson, Judicial Career Track Oliver Ellsworth, Legislative Career Track Benjamin rush, or painter Charles Willson Peale.  Remember if you choose someone on a career track, they'll exit it (for no gains, as nobody has been in one for the full four years yet).

@Ich_bin_Tyler You can keep Benjamin Franklin or switch to Continental Congress President John Adams.

GeorgeWashingtonCPU has to keep Continental Congressman George Washington.  +1 Command.

JohnJayCPU has to keep Continental Congressman John Jay.  Jay gets +1 Admin (now has four!).

HenryLaurensCPU has to keep bastard baby William Franklin.  No gains.

I'll choose Francis Hopkins.

Also just a heads up Ted,  Most everyone in the other playtests I'm in know this, but I don't respond while I'm at work, so that means I generally don't answer things until 3:30ish CST every day.

No worries, I always give people at least 24 hours to respond.  And if something comes up where that's not possible for a day or two, just let me know and we'll work around it. Thanks!

Hopkinson gains +1 admin (now has 3), Leadership, Disharmonious, and Civil Rights.

Okay, sheets are current including the history tab.

GENERAL EVENTS 1774-1776 (I've added @vcczar's new events to this tab -- descriptions and instructions are missing for some of them, but there's still enough info there for us to utilize them.)

Random Politician with Likable gains Command: @Ich_bin_Tyler Artemas Ward gains +1 Command -- his first!

Random Continental Congressperson gains Command: HenryLaurensCPU Continental Congressman Thomas Tillinghast of Rhode Island gains +1 Command -- his first as well!

Early Retirement:  We've been able to confirm reports that Samuel I Hopkins wants to step down from politics. We would have liked a little more warning.

@Murrman104 Continental Congressman Samuel I Hopkins of Virginia decides this whole congress thing isn't for him, and resigns from the game at the age of 56.  The Virginia seat will sit empty until the next appointment phase.  Notably, @Murrman104 now only has one Continental Congressman left: his faction leader, Sammy Adams.  This also tilts Virginia Red (2/3, whereas it was previously a 50/50 split).

Return to Normalcy:  If there's one thing I'm gathering in the papers, it's that the people just want things back to normal as well as some calmness in politics. We have an opportunity here. Let's run our guys everywhere across the country.

JohnDicksonCPU's moderate faction gets a +1 in all races in the 1776 elections.

Finding Their Call:  I've been looking at our younger crop of politicians, and ______ is turning out to be some sort of efficiency wizard. This kid handles almost any issue like its childs' play.

HenryLaurensCPU Continental Congressman Charles Coatesworth Pinckney gains efficient.

Scripted Events 1774-1776

DECLARATION OF RESOLVES
Members of the Continental Congress are increasingly supporting a Declaration of Resolves to object to the Intolerable Acts and to outline a Colonial Bill of Rights.

Action to @Ich_bin_Tyler
John Adams to choose a response, which will then be voted on by congress.

COMMON SENSEAn anonymous pamphlet titled Common Sense is advocating American Independence from Great Britain. We know the author to be Thomas Paine, currently of Philadelphia. Within days, the pamphlet has been read in taverns and meeting places throughout the colonies!

@Murrman104 Thomas Paine gains celebrity and loses obscure.

Action to @Ich_bin_Tyler to propose a Congressional response.

Congress will immediately vote on legislative proposal "Lee's Resolution" -- I'll wait until @Ich_bin_Tyler gets all his decisions in, so we can vote on everything at once.

LEXINGTON & CONCORD:
British troops have been miraculously repulsed by volunteer American colonists known as "minute men." If not for being alerted by the daring rides of Paul Revere, William Dawes, and Samuel Prescott, our troops might have been caught off guard. There is no doubt the British Regulars will be tougher next time. We might need to consider sending troops from other colonies to aid our friends in Massachusetts.

Revolutionary War officially begins!

Action to @Ich_bin_Tyler to propose a response.

PROCLAMATION OF REBELLION:
King George III has announced a formal rebellion within his Empire. Royal officials are ordered to rebuff the rebellion and to punish those involved in partaking in the rebellion.

@Ich_bin_Tyler to propose a response.

WILLIAM FRANKLIN DEFIES FATHER AND COLONIES BY SIDING WITH THE BRITISH:  Despite being the son of Benjamin Franklin, William Franklin has defied his father and declared his loyalty to the crown!

@Ich_bin_Tyler, your bastard son is an idiot.  HenryLaurensCPU's faction leader resigns from the game at the age of 44.

JOHN BARTRAM RECOGNIZED AS WORLD'S GREATEST BOTANIST:
Carl Linneaus, the world famous Swedish naturalist, proclaimed Bartram the "Greatest Natural Botanist in the World." [Historically, the Founding Fathers made frequent trips to his garden in Philadelphia.]

@OrangeP47 Everyone's favorite botanist gains celebrity, at the age of 75.

LAVOSIER DEFINES OXYGEN:
French Chemist Antoine Lavoisier defines and proves the existence of oxygen. Some are calling this one of the greatest discoveries of all time.

@OrangeP47 the science faction gains +50.

(Having gone through the full list and not hit 10 events yet, I now go back to general events)

RANDOM POLITICIAN WITH PURITAN GAINS COMMAND: @OrangeP47 Kingmaker and former faction leader George Wythe gains a second level of Command.

PRESIDENTIAL AILMENT:  President Adams, we're so glad to see you alert again. You suffered a terrible fall. The physicians are still trying to determine the issue, but your recovery is likely to take a long time. We still support you, of course, but the vice president is willing to step in.

@Ich_bin_Tyler Continental Congress President John Adams loses 1 from all abilities, leaving him with zero Command, two legislative, one judicial, and one admin.  He may resign from the Presidency if you wish (in which case, we'll need to elect a new Continental Congress President.)  Regardless of whether you resign or not, you can still respond to all the events above this line, as they happened prior to your fall.

SENATOR OR REP ON COMMITTEE GARNERS ATTENTION:
We're certainly glad _____ is representing us in committee. ____ could be posturing for a run for higher office. Maybe we should take advantage of this?

HenryLaurensCPU Continental Congressman Henry Laurens gains +1 Legislative (tied at 4 for most in the game) and gains +1 in the 1776 elections.

Man a third Wilson event?? And still not assassination???

And only a 5% chance to fire in this era!

This one makes sense though, it’s already been precedent for John Adams and Thomas Jefferson to suffer in these playtests

Right?  I was so excited that this was going to be John Adams' big playthrough.

I suppose there’s still hope for Thomas Jefferson, though I can’t say I’m holding my breath

Was literally trying to nurture Adams to be my all star. Maybe someday...

Will get responses to events in the next few hours.
