Obviously we all want women's suffrage early but the game's penalty is simply too serve. If we passed it, party preference would have gone done to +1 Red and we might have lost Congress.

Yeah the GOP cannot let the Democrats have a branch of government....that would be like too fair

In this game, if I've learned anything, it's that it's a fine line between having a big edge and losing the whole thing. We let them win Congress, they repeal Reconstruction and make a few other moves and then suddenly we go into the next election with it being Blue +2. That's how this game seems to work.

True but in 1884 reconstruction ends anyway so you got what 5 more election cycles?

All on trying to block Naturalisation of African Decent despite the fact it won’t change the result:

William B Allison

Elihu B Washburne
Vespasian Warner

Schuyler Colfax

Robert T Van Horn

all of them hold 5 votes

Each one could only target one person.  I rolled randomly.

Haha. Fair. On the flip side, if you take reconstruction out of the equation, this era is actually very friendly to the blue side when you look at state leans.

To explain why I only allowed 2 people to try to debate and convert:

Any member of a Senator or House Committee with “debate” can also give a speech, but they will convert only 1 US Senator or 5 US House votes (depending on the debater’s house of congress) of a faction of their choice that is not led by a “Puritan” faction leader. Speeches have a 5-6 die roll chance of being successful. A politician can only give one speech per half-term

Haha yeah, you were right. Block was the only one to notice it. Of course, even after we figured it out, some of the people in our Party still voted for it. We're playing very different games on the Red side.

Yes you seem to be playing super liberal republicans and dictatorship republicans. But anyway if we get an economic crisis you might lose the house anyway. The senate we have no chance of taking for a good couple of rotations.

What with iron fisted Grant and his goons no longer in power the GOP is breaking apart?

No, we're just not jerks. We don't penalize people in our Party for being free thinkers.

You've given us an economic crisis in 2 of the first 3 turns of this playtest. How about a boom period for a change, lol. We've gotten the meters to where they are no simply by having a world class treasury secretary and trying to manage the economy through legislation.
