And to @Hestia to fix your cabinet.  You have two liberals -- Crawford and Scott -- you can only have one.  Crawford has already acted as envoy in this Texas business, so you need to replace Scott as Secretary of War.

I've removed Scott's title and popularity point, both of which will go to the Conservative of your choosing.

I'll give it to Roger Taney

Alright, given that @Hestia and @Timur were the ones who got it to Congress in the first place, that's unanimous!

1 Popularity to @Hestia President Daniel Webster and Texas Ambassador @Timur William H Crawford.

Public Support moves 1 toward the liberals (but is still conservative).  Reserves drop by $10 million.

And we have some lovely new land that is technically in Mexico.

Eh, minor detail.  Should be fine.

;c)

@Pringles Secretary of State Dallas, you will need 3 IP to deliver the petition for Texas statehood to Congress per the President's wishes. You can spend your own faction IP, the President can donate @Hestia and/or you can turn to other factions to see who might donate to the cause.

We will offer one of our 2 IP to get closer to the goal.

I'll donate the rest. Dallas appreciates it. 😛

Texas statehood is ratified with 30 in favor and 9 opposed. Spreadsheet updated @MrPotatoTed

+2 popularity each to President Webster and Secretary of State Dallas.

Texas activated on Electoral map for next election.

Mr. President you can call for Issue #3 or ask your Treasury Secretary to propose enacting a Tax, enacting a Level 3 Tariff, or repealing a Level 2 Tariff. @Hestia

ISSUE THREE!

1839

You've annexed an entire country -- the Formerly Independent Republic of Texas -- and surveying is underway to construct new towns named after the Secretary of State and Ambassador who made it happen.  Everyone is super excited about it!

Everyone, that is, except the Mexicans.

But that's hardly any concern of yours.  Mexico is still reeling from their own expensive revolutionary war against Spain, preparing for the possibility that Spain may attack again from their stronghold in Cuba, and really just doing a pretty shit job of uniting their newfound country together -- there is significant infighting and the possibility that the Mexican factions that united against Spain may turn against each other now, further fracturing the country.

This might be a perfect opportunity to deploy a few soldiers into the land we purchased from Mexico -- you know, just for "peacekeeping" -- and see what happens....
